Flight of the Mecury Strike OOC(CLOSED)
The year is 3500 A.D. and as foretold by scientists of times yet forgotten, our world is no more. At least, not the world that we ourselves know of. Although it still exists and our people still thrive on, reproduction at it's finest and yet limited all the same, our planet, our beloved Earth has become overrun by pollutants and chemicals that have otherwise drowned out the continents in a great smog that is both as deadly to humanity as it is to the planes on which it roams and thrives upon. They warned us, and as a result of our failure to listen and comply our people have been suffering for the past thousand years. In response to the smog, and in a great attempt to save what was left of their people from extinction, at the beginning of the 3rd millennium the world leaders gathered together and began what was originally known as Project Zero and later renamed Eden - a mechanically engineered empire that floated above the smog through the use of the toxic fumes themselves. Eden was the first, but certainly not the last and in due time all over the world these cities began to form, elevating our numbers once more to what they used to be.
But within that safety and progress, mans greedy nature began to fester under the surface once again. Soon Eden's government began to rot with greed and the lust for power until it finally fell to the charismatic leader, the General Magistrate. The city of Horus had been the second city in the sky, and was quick to rally the other free cities against the large armada’s of newly named Magistrate. But no city had the Magistrate's numbers, nor it’s weapons and slowly the other cities fell under his control. Horus stood alone, and with such impossible odds it was only a matter of time until it fell and freedom was snuffed out of the world forever - or was it?
In the city of Horus a brilliant inventor Hector De la Cruz has just constructed a new ship which design and engines make it the fastest and most maneuverable in the world. However like most in his city he is unwilling to help the General and Horus is brought into the war with an attack by Eden. The smaller city has few defenses and is quickly over run. Hector made an fateful choice and "convinced" his children who had fought with him during the battle to take the ship and run. The children named the ship The Mercury Strike and have used their fathers invention to wreck havoc on any Eden ship they find. Something bigger is coming however and the future of the world will depend on the crew of The Mercury Strike.
Important Locations:
Eden - The first and biggest city constructed. It's population exceeds well over 2 billion people with its standing military force exceeding 750,000. It's population was mostly comprised of citizens of North America, England and the European Union. Because of this the city was very quickly able to consolidate it's power and wealth. It is here that the General grew in power and here that the greed of the city lead to his rise in power. It's population is made mainly of those from North America and Europe, though some of the more influential Japanese and Chinese citizens were able to buy their way in as well.
New London - New London may not be a pretty as Eden or the late Apollo but it is just as important to the world. It the manufacturing center of the world, however it is not a city of smoke stacks and ugly walls. This city uses the power of steam, as the other cites. The most important product that New London develops is the core power engines that use the toxic fog of the earth as fuel to keep the cities in the air. It also produces smaller parts of the engine and also mass produces many weapons of wars depending on who is in control of the city at the time. It was developed soon after Eden for production of goods but has a more diverse population.
Quetzalcoatl- Quetzalcoatl is not like any other city in the world, and that could simply be because it is not much of a city at all. Only a few buildings and homes stand in this place, the rest of its surface is taken up by rescued forest farm land and animals. It is last place on earth to see any bits of the world that existed before the smog. It is also great place to go if you want to get lost, before the rise of the GM the city was a favorite hiding spot for criminals. However now it is the home of the “revolution” though the many hunting parties and patrols have never run into any of these freedom fighters. This was the second city brought up by the UN as an answer to food shortages as well to keep some of the old worlds plant and animal life.
Apollo - Also known as "The Fallen Sun," Apollo was once, aside from Eden, the most prosperous city in the skies. Apollo was the first city raised by the UN council and the most diverse city in the sky with people from all races and nationality living among it's walls. However, during the rise of the General Magistrate, the Apollo people gather the other cities as allies and launched itself in a decades long war with the dictator. but Eden's power was too great. The Eden forces drove deep into the lines. Right at the front door of Apollo and in an effort to make it an example destroyed the city engines causing the giant city to crash to Earth. Out of the billion who lived within Apollo's walls merely a quarter survived. This catastrophe went on to be recorded in Earth's history as The Fall of Apollo.
Horus - The last great sky city to break the deadly fog. It’s construction was made at a fever pitch as the cloud of deadly began to descend on the last of the remaining cities. Because of this much of the buildings and even the large platform itself is badly put together. However the engines are still strong and because of its strategic positioning between the city’s of the east and west made it quite the powerful player. It was also one of the most liberally functioning cities in the sky. This attracted many of the best and some times morally questionable scientist. It's population is made up of countries which had to wait till the last moment because of a lack of funds which include counties from South and Central America, South East Asia and so on.
The Dark Lands - The name for the poisonous fog covered lands of old. Little is known of it since society has moved to to the clouds. Many even question if any humans still live beneath its shroud. Any humans who do find themselves down in these forbidden lands have only minutes to find an oxygen mask before the fumes causes them to pass out. Followed quickly by death.
---------------------------
NPC's/Important people
The General Magistrate - Real name: General Alex Hamilton. A top general before humanities move to the sky, Hamilton was a 20 year veteran of the Air Force. The General from an early career was a vocal about his opinions that the military was much more suited to governing humanity in it's dark times. This view did not change as he moved into Eden and in fact became more vocal. Using the democratic governments from the "old world" as scapegoats he quickly began to gain power with fiery speeches and loose facts and a promise to make Eden live up to it's namesake. It was exactly what the people of Eden wanted to hear, and the General and his party was elected into office in a sweeping election landslide.
--------------------------
Technology
Many items from the old world are still prevalent in this world in the sky. However because of the lost of the worlds natural resources humanity has had to use what it can. And what it has is a lot of metal much of it left over from building the grand cities. Guns are also prevalent in the sky, however because of the lost of natural resources gun power has become rare. Weapons are now fired by other means including guns fired with high pressure steam and electromagnetic pulse. Ships come in all size and uses, from large transports to personal transportation. Ships like the Mercury Strike are the fighters of the new world, but with battles all their own. A mixture of dog fighting and boarding the enemies ship is key, with the goal of bringing the ships crashing down to the Dark Lands. But there is a larger threat in the sky's for the crew of Mercury Strike. Giant ships which are nearly 4 times the size of aircraft carriers of old, their decks holding 4 to 6 smaller ships for combat. These Titans are the deadliest crafts in the sky.
--------------------------
Types of Aircraft
Personal Aircraft - Example 1 Unlike the cars of the old war, personal aircraft are few. Most often only the very rich can afford them and taking major transports from one city to other is expensive and crowded. This means most people stay in the same city their whole life.
Titans - The Terrors of the Sky. These giant ships strike fear in all ships who oppose them. Introduced midway through the battle of Apollo, these ships were major game changers. Suddenly these giant ships came onto the field with their guns blazing, and 6-8 fighter ships on it's decks ready for immediate back up. Those the Titans were game changers, war's could not be won with them only. They were slow and without protection from fighters; very vulnerable to attacks on their rear engines. Today they patrol the sky's for rebels and of course, the crew of Mercury Strike.
Fighters - The aces, the heroes, and the most important element to war in the new battlefield skies. These ships are armed with cannons, for both city walls and enemy ships. One of the quickest ways for a ship to take down its opponent was with one devastating to the engines with cannon fire. This however was not the most effective. The cannon's ammunition is large and slow, and some fighters could even our run the ammunition. Yes though a cannon to the engines was the quickest way to end the battle, no ship worth it's weight in salt was without its boarding crew. "Getting on is easy, killing is easier, getting off. That will get you killed." No one is sure which boarder said this but it describes a boarders job rather nicely.
The Mercury Strike - Hector's concept drawing. The fastest, most maneuverable fighter in the world. Able to out run any other fighter in the world, it escapes cannon fire with ease. This comes at the draw back that it's own cannons are smaller and may sometimes have trouble penetrating the armor of other fighters. This however is not a problem, because the Strike can deliver boarding parties in an instant and also make pick ups, quite literally "on the fly." The boarding parties are often led by Fidel De La Cruz, who keeps in radio contact with his sister via micro radios in the ear. A technology lost in the move to the sky but rediscovered by Celeste. This makes the Strike's boardings and exits quicker, more organized, and more deadly.

The Crew of Mercury Strike
Fidel De La Cruz and Celeste De La Cruz by Squall Reyes and Shadow Moonseye
- Spoiler:
- Names: Fidel De La Cruz and Celeste De La Cruz
Age: Fidel: 28 Celeste: 26
City of origin: Horus
Bio: The children of Hector De La Cruz, Fidel and Celeste were brought up by the most brilliant mind of the time and in one of the most diverse cities in the sky. Fidel was born with Hector’s fiery spirit and quick wit but not his fathers overall genius. Celeste grew to have their mothers kindness but stubborn strength and also their father’s genius level of intelligence. Fidel as a child grew to feel as though every scolding by his father was not because of his rebellious actions but because his father was disappointed that his son was not as brilliant as him. Celeste tried her best to keep the rift between father and son from expanding but the division seemed immanent.
That is until the war with the General. This proved to be a major bonding experience for father and son. Mostly. Celeste hoped that the rift between her brother and father would heal with the common goal of winning the war drawing them together. At the age of 18 Fidel wanted to back up his words and passion on the battle fields of New London and Apollo. However, Hector and Celeste saw the war only winnable by creating a superior fleet. Only 16 at the time, Celeste didn’t want to see her brother running off to die and tried to convince him with the help of her father to stay with them, to help them construct Hector’s ultimate achievement. Fidel reluctantly agreed, and for a time Celeste’s fears were eased. The trip dived into work.
They worked hard; often Celeste and Hector would stay up till the wee hours of the morning pouring over blueprints and ideas, sharing them with Fidel once he was awake. Fidel watched--growing jealous of his father and sister--as the two geniuses grew closer than ever because of the project. He disappeared one night to join the fight over New London.
After waking to find her brother gone, Celeste spent the next week asking after him, hoping that he had just run off to another part of the city. She knew deep down that he had left to join the war, but hope is never reasonable. When the week come to a close, she accepted that there was nothing more she could do short of going after him. She dove back into work with a single minded determination, dead set on helping her father see his project to completion. She worked until she was beyond exhaustion, and then sat out and scan the skies for any sign of her brother before finally falling into a dreamless slumber.
Such were her days, each blending seamlessly into the next.
Fidel would return the day before the attack on Horus to warn his family of the coming attack. On that day, everything changed and the siblings futures were set.
Personality: Fidel: Posses his father’s ability to lead, a strong and dominating spirit that is at the same time pleasant and charming. However this is contradicted with a fiery temper and supreme hatred for the General. He acts more on impulse than his sister, trusting his gut and the ship to get them out of tight situations.
Celeste: She is kind, if not a bit forward; she sees subtly as a waste of time and because of this always speaks her mind--no matter who might be around to hear. She could be considered eccentric and is always working on some project or invention. Far from the stereotypical quiet tinkerer, she is very loud and a bit nosey. She has a stubborn streak large as they come; once she sets her mind on something it will be done. Friendly with nearly all the crew, she uses them to test out her inventions--whether they’re willing or not.

- Name: Madison Magnolia Zafirah
"Zephyr" |"Maddie" | "Mad Zephyr" | "Red Magnolia" | "Magna"
Age: 23
City of origin: Apollo
Bio: Madison was born to a family of street urchins. Her father was a thug who did low merc jobs and her mother was a gypsy who ripped people off for their fortunes; though many times her predictions were fairly true. Maddie's first impressions of life was that it was a cold, cruel place. But she didn't linger hard on those little things when she was a kid. She had fun playing in the streets, and thought that life was a game that she had to cheat to excel at. But the game was over when Madison turned eleven, and came home to find her parents both murdered viciously, beaten to death by loan sharks seeking revenge. Maddie then found herself alone, suddenly thrust into the world alone.
-
Maddie did only what she knew. She took her mother's old tarot cards and her father's sword and pistol, and she set off. Her life continued from there where she could only find, after two years of homelessness, to move in with a friend she had made named Draven James. He was more upper class than she in the fallen city, and he took her in. Draven was sixteen and she was thirteen, and he had become her greatest friend and a brother to her. But he only thought he knew everything of her. As they grew older, he becoming nineteen and she sixteen, he began to realize something. Draven found the pistol under her pillow, but waved it off. Then he found her blade, flecked with blood. A confrontation came to be between the two friends, and he threatened to make her leave. It was then an arrangement came to be. She would only work under Draven, as he had his own skeletons in the closet that came by his family. For the next two years afterward, she protected him, and soon they became lovers- as it is inevitable for man to live with woman without some form of string or trick.
-
At the age of 20, Draven had an affair with another woman and impregnated her with his child. Madison was heartbroken, but slipped away in the middle of the night after making him feel like it was all right. She went to the woman he'd slept with and murdered her in her sleep, killing the unborn child as well. Her rage was whispered of in rumors of the Red Magnolia after she left a magnolia blossom doused in blood on the stomach of the dead mother to be, a flower for the child Madison had thought. She then escaped, leaving the city as fast as she could...
-
Her destination was Horus, where she settled down a quiet life. But things were not peaceful. Her mind was forever at war with bloodstained hands and especially knowing of the murders of her lover's affair and unborn child fell on her shoulders. Madison only found ways to escape the pain of her past, mostly in the forms of training. She trained her body, becoming stronger than most mean with a shape that could both knock men out of their seat in both the manner of rich thick curves and strength too. She gained tattoos that ran ragged and tribal in black down from scarce marks on her left cheek to her throat, shoulders, chest, stomach, and thighs, tracing down the outer sides of both of her legs til they wrapped around her ankles in a small thin ink anklet. Her mind began to blur the edges of her pain, and she could only find things to put the blame onto. The economy, the people, the world. But as fast as she had dipped into her loss of sanity, she rose out that much stronger. She found the Mercury Strike, and knew that someone up in the polluted sky was looking out for her. A purpose, she thought, to redeem herself for all her sinful wrongdoings. And now she leads life as tough personnel onboard the ship, trying to ease back into a more social, lively state. Of course, easier said than done.
Personality: Madison is a cool woman, easily intimidating by her height of 5'9 or her tanned, lean mercenary styled body type. She's hard to make conversation with unless it's one on one conversation, which comes to her a lot more easily than group chit chat. A lot of times around people the fiery redhead can come off as feisty and awkward, tending to grumble about how socializing was the most useless thing in the world. It's not hard to tell she doesn't like people as a whole, and she's rather morose at times. But Madison, once you've gotten into her better graces, is the kind of person that will protect and fight for someone until death parts her from them. She's loyal, to-herself, stubborn, and unsure of her own emotions most of the time.
Specialty: Guard | Part-Time Gunner (she usually fills the space of a gunner on break or covers someone missing. If needed, she provides and extra trained hand)
Appearance:
- Spoiler:
- Name: Sunshine Walters
Age: 28
City of origin: Quetzalcoatl
Bio: Sunshine’s mother ran a ranch on Quetzalcoatl, raising cattle for dairy products and meat. Her mother never talked about her father much beyond saying that he wasn’t the sort to stick around for anything, not even his own child, but there were always plenty of ranch hands to help raise her as a girl. There were always an abundance of animals around too, and Sunshine grew up loving them all, which is why she eventually chose to go to a UN sponsored school to study animal husbandry and veterinary medicine. She had every intent to stay on Quetzalcoatl and help animals for the rest of her life, but things didn’t turn out quite like that. Sunshine’s then boyfriend was part of a group working to resist the General Magistrate and Eden and he roped her into unwittingly passing coded messages and information from one cell of the group to another. When one of the cells was betrayed and its members captured and interrogated, Sunshine was named as a member of the group, even though she was barely aware of their existence. A group of armed men from Eden’s forces came to arrest her and her boyfriend, and they both tried to flee, which ended badly for him. Sunshine got away though and spent some time hiding in the forests of Quetzalcoatl. While lying low, she stumbled across the fledgling crew of the Mercury Strike, who had landed there to hide out themselves and give an injured crew member a chance to recover. Although she’d never worked on a human being before, Sunshine offered to help and managed to save the crew member’s life, even if it was a bit of a patchwork job. With nowhere else to go, Sunshine accepted an offer to join the crew of the Mercury Strike and did her level best to translate her skills from animals to people.
Personality: Sunshine is very much like her name, bright and cheery, perky almost to the point of annoying some folks. Her glass is always half full, and she’s always trying to squeeze a few more drops out to make it more than half full. She’s also very motherly and tries to take care of everyone around her, whether they want her to or not. When under a lot of pressure she tends to get flustered and tends to just start talking in a stream of consciousness sort of way until she manages to calm herself down.
Specialty: Medic…of a sort. She’s actually more of a veterinarian, but she can patch up flesh wounds just fine and she’s really putting an effort into learning the rest.
Appearance:
- Spoiler:
- Name: Isaac (Bookworm) Belanoe
Age: 26
City of origin: Quetzalcoatl
Bio: At a young age the scenery of Quetzalcoatl enchanted Isaac's mind. His parents, a pair of biologists, encouraged and pushed onto him books describing the features of the Earth before the Rise. These books spoke also of the scars humanity left on the land's physical features, and sparked Isaac's curiosity again. At the age of fourteen he started to delve into history, first skimming mankind's family tree down to its oldest remembered roots before he climbed his way back up. He devoured histories and often spent large sums of his parent's money to own books and biographies of old world leaders most the world never heard of. This kind of lifestyle left him introverted from his peers, and he matured awkwardly. Never once in his life did tragedy befall, never anything more horrible than a grandfather he hardly knew dying.
A year ago he headed to Horus with his family, feeling emptiness and fear. They left behind all his books. So he flung himself into recording everything that happened to him when he got any moment of free time. This release allowed him to cope with Horus' inevitable siege. When the Eden Armada struck the city his parents struck a bargain with a godfather he never knew, Hector De la Cruz. They threw the hapless young man onto a ship and he barely got the flash of its name before they locked him in a cabin: Mercury Strike. He pounded on the door, screamed, hollered, and tried to kick it down. Then listened to the fighting go on for another four hours before finally someone let him out, he discovered himself to be aboard strange ship with a crew of hard-faced youths. He became alienated immediately.
Personality: Isaac’s closest friend is a journal filled with his hatch-mark handwriting. He doesn’t like crowds or confrontations, and shouting in general makes him nervous. He’s easily panicked and not reliable in a fight for he’s known to freeze, flee, or hyperventilate. Most strangers intimidate him and he won’t look them in the eye, the people he does know can still leave his voice stuttering if he knows they’re mad with him. He’s not empathetic, and believes if someone gets upset around him that it’s his fault. He often clutches his journal close to him for comfort, and finds it easiest to talk levelly when he’s reciting some excerpt from history.
Specialty: Mercury Strike’s Understated Annalist and Historical Expert/Scholar (Has a deep understanding of all the cities' inner workings and the times before)
Appearance: Isaac stands at an intimidating five seven and is naturally scrawny, but due to his inactivity a small pot belly hangs off his gut. His hair is long, oily, and disheveled when he doesn’t bother to tie it back. He stands with a hunch, and is naturally weak. His vision is perfect, despite years of constant reading. His hair is brown, his eyes a ruddy green. He grows facial hair poorly and it comes in scraggly, he shaves once a month. He has a small mole underneath his chin.
- Spoiler:
- Name: Osiris Christeon
Age: 29
City of origin: New London
Bio: Osiris never had a calm life. Both of his parents had jobs making core power engines. Right from birth, he barely saw his parents due to the high demand that their jobs placed on them. Throughout his childhood, his parents did their best to instill a set of good morals in the boy, but without them around nine times out of ten, they were not around to enforce them. Osiris grew up with the wrong crowd, and was soon out on the street placing a lot of trust in strangers who called themselves his friends. By fourteen he was already in trouble with the authorities for vandalism and assault. Later, he found out his parents were the ones that called the cops due to overhearing him talking about it when they came home. Anger started to overtake his entire body, and when he got home, unleashed the rage on his parents.
Osiris’s father was well built due to his job, and easily held back the firey fourteen year old. He explained that in life, there are right things to do, and wrong things to do. When asked why Osiris had vandalized and assaulted the man’s property, he had no other answer other than, “It’s what everyone else was doing…” Osiris’s father looked directly at him, and told him to never blindly follow someone ever again. He wanted him to make his own decisions, and to make his own life. These words stuck, and soon Osiris had broken away from the group of kids he hung around with.
The next few years were uneventful, but when he was 21, he was hired as a bodyguard for a club. He stayed there for a good few years, unknowingly protecting a gang hideout. By this time, Osiris was well built, and a very capable fighter. When he was told to train in firearms to help with the protection of the club, he agreed mainly because of the contract he signed inclined him to. He stayed in their employ right up to the age of 26.
At this time Osiris was wondering whether to join the army or not. He already had experience with firearms and basic tactics, and heard that the pay was three times what he got at the current time. Finally, he convinced himself that the military was the better choice, and resigned from his current job. From there, he joined up with the General Magistrate, and quickly worked his way up to Master Sergeant. He fought in some of the biggest battles of the war, but none were as big as the one that made him change his mind about the entire war effort.
Osiris participated in the attack on Apollo.
During the attack, Osiris was seperated from his group, and they had orders to simply hold their ground. Doing as he was ordered to, Osiris bunkered down and waited for reinforcements to come and help him out of the mess. Bullets, rockets, and blood flew over his head in equal measure. When he tried to move back to his former position, a hail of fire flew towards him, preventing further movement. Suddenly, there was a large explosion followed by smaller ones, and the whole ground started to shift. Osiris wasn’t stupid, and knew that the explosions meant that had hit the engines keeping the city afloat.
Osiris couldn’t believe this. They were here simply to conquer, not condemn all these people to death. As he looked back, he was shocked to see every single airship pull off of Apollo, and leave him to his certain death. He cursed the General Magistrate, he cursed the other soldiers, and he cursed himself for following orders blindly. He refused to die, and due to this, broke from cover towards the rebels. No shots came out to greet him, as they were all too busy trying to find a way off the rock.
Making his way to the airship bay, thanking the fact that he had studied the layout of the city beforehand, he found that he wasn’t the only Magistrate soldier left behind. As he started to gather them together, he noticed that at least three squads of five, inluding himself, had been left behind. Osiris held the highest rank among them, and therefore took over the lead. He burst into the airship bay, and managed to steal a small ship to get the hell off of Apollo.
The group of magistrate soldiers watched as the city plummetted down to the dead Earth below, and an unspoken pact was created between them. This let them live with the mass homocide that they had just committed, and each said a prayer in their own way to the souls of those who did not make it. They had no idea what to do now. They were renegades, but also soldiers at the same time. They wouldn’t go back to the army, and they doubted if the rebels would have them. One thing was for certain though.
The General was going to die.
They ended up in Horus later, and after a few years as mercenaries for hire found out about the Mercury Strike. The thought of revenge was still very fresh in their minds, and they quickly signed up to join with the ship. There was a little tension between Osiris’s men and that of the Mercury Strike due to their past history as Magistrate soldiers, but they were allowed on board. Due to the nature of Osiris’s men not following anyone but him, he was appointed head of security, and has done everything in the name of loyalty to the ship and her crew. Not once has he done an action which has made anyone question which side he is on, and for the first time in his life, he knows he’s picking his own path.
Personality: Osiris is quiet and reserved at most times, but friendly and outgoing with those who get to know him. He looks like a typical mercenary leader with no remorse or guilt, but the opposite is actually completely true. Due to his participation at Apollo, he refuses to talk about the city or the people within it, and will often times walk away from a conversation that even mentions the city. He is completely loyal to the crew of Mercury Strike, and would do anything short of costing them all their lives to get back at the General for what he has done. He is happiest when a drink is in front of him, and he can just talk to people. His temper is near non-existant except when in the heat of battle. He has been known to brutally kill Magistrate soldiers in a blind rage, and then mourn his own actions. He is a complex individual with a clear purpose in mind, and a driven determination to see it to the end.
Specialty: Head of Security
Appearance:
- Spoiler:
- Name: Ronas ‘Spectre’ Chekan
Age: 32
City of origin: Eden
Bio: Ronas Chekan has always had his eyes on the great blue yonder. His grades were good, but his teachers always said his head was often in the clouds. Doodles and poems littered his work, always about the same topic. This unquenchable desire to fly eventually lead him to join the Military forces of Eden.
From day one, he showed a talent most veterans would be envious of, and his skills only grew as the instructors groomed the young man to be one of the best, a true ‘Ace of Aces’. What his instructors failed to realize is that Ronas was in no way a violent individual. His desire to kill is all but non-existent, and he almost never strikes first in engagements.
When the time came for his final flight exercise, the young pilot shocked everyone by simply abandoning the airspace, and evading every single pilot they launched after him. Since that day, no one has really found him for long, earning him quite a few nicknames, the most common one being Spectre. The number of engagements between him and the relentless Eden military are without number, and it’s hard to believe that any one man could have survived so much. And yet, he still lives.
Ronas and Spectre are unlinked, with few truly knowing the actual connection between them, but everyone knows of the enigmatic pilot that wanders the skies, a ghost amongst the clouds who can fly anything, and do it better than any other man alive. The air is forever his home, and no one knows it better.
Personality: Ronas has a constant aura of calm, and his tranquility is utterly unshakeable. He rarely reacts to even the most extreme stimuli, beyond that of a wry smile and a light hearted chuckle. His passion in life is flying, and so long as he’s in the air, Ronas is perfectly happy, no matter the circumstance. He always has a word of advice and an ear, although people are often quick to label him as cold, due to his neutral nature.
Specialty: Ace Pilot
Appearance:
- Spoiler:
- Name: Al ‘The Mech’ Patterson
Age: 64
City of origin: Horus
Bio: Born to parents he never met, Al’s first memory is him living on the streets. He was, however, one of the luckier ones. When he was about 7, a local, family-less mechanic found him and took pity on the poor kid, taking him on as his own. Immediately Al grew accustom to being around machines and working, fixing and using them. He had an astonishing talent with it to. By the time he was a teen, he would spend his whole day in his adoptive father’s garage, tinkering and bickering with a whole plethora of machines.
When the fog hit, Al’s father was called to help build the ships that were supposed to save humanity. Al, during his dads leave, took over the garage, furthering his knowledge of the machines even further. Eventually, by recommendation of his dad and through lack of workers, Al was called to also come and work on the building of the machines.
Over that time period, Al and his father worked on the Eden, Quetzalcoatl and Horus ships. On the duos last project, Horus, Al and his father were one of the few humans left on the ground building the machines. Not only that, but the clock was working against them to finish construction. In the relative nervousness and confusion that was the building of the Horus, Al’s father succumbed to a machine accident, where a crane prematurely let go of its cargo, dropping it on the unsuspecting man. Al was devastated, but they were pressed to finish the job... and so he did.
Finally, hastily and shabbily built, Al took off in the Horus, opening his own, new garage, named in honor of his adoptive father. He worked like that, alone, in his garage for awhile. His workings and talent got him the nickname ‘The Mech’ from his customers and it stuck. Then one day everything changed. One day the news of the Apollo incident hit him. Now that hit him to the heart... for some reason. Al wasn’t really one to care about other people’s problems, but this thing was different. Al, for the first time in his life, wanted to do something about it.
It probably had to do with the boring life-style he had in his garage, mixed with the acceptance that he wasn’t getting any younger... and the generally-accepted pretext that he wanted to teach the Magistrate a lesson. But, he mostly decided to ‘do something about it’ just for the damn hell of it. I mean, why not, right?
So, Al ‘The Mech’ Patterson set off, selling his garage and joined up the first ship he saw: The Mercury Strike. Now this relatively aged man’s life was really going to begin.
Personality: Al has a very... odd personality. He is rather grotesque and knows nothing of manners or etiquette. He says what is on his mind and can be hot-tempered. However, if someone can, somehow, see past his unattractive demeanor, you can find in him a jolly-old companion who likes to sing some blues or folk songs from his ancestor’s home, New Orleans. He will also fiercely defend his friends with whom he is quite loyal to.
Specialty: engineer/mechanic/ pilot... he also really likes to use his shot-gun; ‘Betty’. Oh yah, he can also cook. Beware of that, though.
If it’s a machine, Al can use, fix or fly it.

I am interested in joining this, but before I write up a character sheet does my specialty have to be limited to just the four mentioned. What I have in mind is for my character to be an Annalist of our, well, adventures and scholar who's studied heavily the histories of Earth before and after the cities rose.

Oh no. Those are just examples I threw out. There are many more jobs on the ship than just those I threw out. That one wasn't one I had thought of but it sounds like a great idea.

That sounds great! I'll have my character sent to you by tonight or tomorrow morning.
*Edit*
I'd like to also have a basic idea of what the people of Horus look like, behave, and what kind of names they hold. If you have a character sheet for your character(s) will you have it posted here or in the archives so I may look at it and have a better idea?

Re: Flight of the Mecury Strike OOC(CLOSED)
Well I left little hints in each description as to the make up of each city. With Eden having the majority of the survivors of North America and Europe. While Horus being the last city was a bit of a social commentary seeing as most of it's people would be from countries who would have a much tougher time coming up with the money. So it's people would be made up of those from Central America, South America, African Nations, Middle East, South East Asia and so on. Apollo would be a UN venture hence it would house those from all across the world. I will have to make up a much longer history in a bit. But for now I am just wanting to see how many are interested.

Re: Flight of the Mecury Strike OOC(CLOSED)
Name: Madison Magnolia Zafirah

Well I sent a PM of my crew member. Not a member to normally inhabit such a ship (or any for that matter) but I think he'll grow into the crew as the story progresses...

Hey people. Added a few more crew members to the list including the son and daughter of Hector De la Cruz. Also added is some information on some of the air craft in the sky. Including the frighting Titans and of course our very own Mercury Strike!
Also know that we are at 7 characters, and will only be accepting 1 more. The rest of the crew will be made up of a couple dozen (expendable) crew members. So I repeat we have one more spot left.

Re: Flight of the Mecury Strike OOC(CLOSED)
Sorry if my post comes up a bit short, but I didn't want to expand it with any needless blah.
Two quick questions. Where exactly are we? At a city, or a floating port in between the cities? Maybe I just missed it when I was reading over everyone's post (and I did read a bit fast because all those posts at once caught me off guard) but I didn't describe the dockyard because I wasn't sure where we were. If I can get a better idea I'll go in and edit my post a bit if I get the chance.

Please feel free to edit the post. We are in a floating port between the cities. They are used as refueling stations. It is also a place for smugglers and general people of no good business get together to exchange jobs or trade ships for jobs.

Heh. Heh...heh...
Sorry about the immense wait. Writer's block is quite the bitch, eh? It's up now, good or bad, so we can move on, thank Nurgle. Also, Quaker, sorry, but I move the little pow-wow up to the bridge, as you said to leave the pilot seat open, so...the ship wouldn't be moving unless Spectre was there to fly it, right?
I figured I'd just shift it up there.
Again, sorry for the wait. I don't know what else to tell you.
