Paradise Amiss


Hundreds of years into the future, the world is now a desolate wasteland with diamonds speckled amongst it. These diamonds are Dome Cities that house thousands or even millions of humans. They are covered in beautiful sheets of white structures, glass and steel buildings, and an order that is almost as beautiful as logic itself.

The year is 3430.

Welcome to Eden. The perfect city of the Dome Cities, the capital of them all. Here, order is born, lived out, and buried. Here is where it all began...

Plot
A small group of people live day to day hiding their insecurities and questions about their reality. In this perfect utopia, there are those who hide from the punishment of even thinking those thoughts, so they keep it all locked up. But deep down a small seed of hope is sewn, as they find each other. And these people will find the answers, reckon the Wastelands, and save their people with the long lost hopes of faith, love, and passion forgotten.

Sidenotes


-Humans do not have sex to procreate. Almost the entirety of the population does not have sex at all, if they even know what it is anymore. Men when hitting puberty, donate four ounces of semen over a period of time, and afterward, are given vasectomies to keep them from reproducing with the women. They are put to sleep when the semen is taken from them as to feel no pleasure or be hinted at the pleasure that exists there.

-People pair off as spouses, and even legally bind themselves (marriage without religion). But love is an ever elusive emotion, most often these bound couples are not truly in love as you and I know of love. Instead, they are simply happy with someone, and decide to take it to the next level as to assure that they do not have to part again. Binding has it's good points, which include larger living spaces for two instead of one, and even opens up the option for a woman and man to request a child- which will be formed inside of the female as she is artificially inseminated.

-There are classes of people. High, Middle, and Low. A, B, and C.

--> A Class workers are the most intelligent, weeded out as zygotes by their excessively good looks matched with intelligence, social ability, and other determining factors of personality and good physical traits. These tend to be the scientists, high up engineers, politicians, surgeons, doctors, architects, biologists, Wasteland Scholars, and more. They are also the taller of people by a majority (meaning that lower classes can be tall, it's just that most A class are tall, between 5'6 - 5'11 for women and 5'11 - 6'4 for men).

--> B Class workers are the second of these, with the potential to be A Class, only with flaws and setbacks. These tend to be teachers, nurses, social workers, pregnancy assistants, Wasteland Studies, engineers, technicians, etc. They range of average height for men and women today, and have a vaster appearance range.

--> C Class workers are the strength. These have the mental potential to manage everyday tasks and are ''normal'' citizens as we might see them today, though in this society they are the rot of the crop, but the backbone nonetheless. They are chosen as zygotes if they have the ability to be strong labor hands. They tend to be cargo transfer, street cleaners, habitat workers, tailors, maids, store workers, sales clerks, assistants, etc. Though some are very attractive, they are known as not being as attractive as the other classes. Also, the women tend to be somewhat around average woman height today, and the men are a vast range of heights. Most C Class people are burly, or in some way obvious for their class.

-Order is kept through brainwashing. Everyone goes through annual mental ''cleansing'' to rid of bad thoughts and negative feelings. If someone steps out of line, they can get brainwashed completely or partially. Every time a person steps out of line and needs brainwashing, the strength of that wash is stronger than the last time. After five, you get demoted a Class and are given a new ''purpose''.

-Purpose is your job. You're given a job upon birth. When you are examined as a newborn, doctors will predetermine you your future. Thus, as a child you get either a basic, intermediate, or advanced education. Then as a teenager, you begin training for your life.

-Wastelands are the outer world, abandoned and aborted by the society of today. The Council foretells everyone and ''brainwashes'' them to agree that the wastelands are a horrible, wild place filled with the very brutality they had left behind almost a full thousand years ago when Eden began its construction. In truth though, beyond anyone and everyone's knowledge save for the Council, the Wastelands are a beautiful stretch of nature where the earth has taken back what the humans have abandoned and not touched. Though a lot of this nature is still showered with ash from the Great Wash that was the burning of most of the world's life after the central Dome Cities were established and the humans picked for restarting the population were escorted there. No one knows of the Great Blaze anymore, as they are not taught it, and those who remembered it were brainwashed.

-Intimacy between people of different classes is frowned upon, but not completely stopped.

-Sex is a whispered rumor only heard by the C Class, where as quite a few men and women there are fond of the activity since C Class tends to have higher sexual desires and appetites than the more perfect civilians.

Name: Thame Estevan
Age: 30
Gender: male
Class: C
Occupation: Cargo / Delivery Personnel

Brief Personality: A very kind, and quiet individual. He keeps a smile about him, and is favored as perhaps one of the kindest of the lower class workers within Eden. Though of course, being in his class, there's nothing much said about him and he is just a coming and going kind face that ships packages throughout the city. Beneath that, he is a very intellectual and curious man, who's questions outweigh what society should ever allow into question.

Summary: Thame was born with the chance of being an A class citizen, but he was quickly shifted down to B after having been found out to have blind upon birth. Though surgery was able to fix the problem, he was a risk of further disease in the future; not A class material.
At the age of 12, he questioned Eden. He got his first consequential brainwashing then. After that, he began to fiercely attack Eden's Council, only to find he was far too young and alone to do it. After five washes, he was demoted to C class, where he began a ''new'' life, remembering his past so very vaguely, and trying to keep his feelings inside after all his failings.

Occupation: Wasteland Scholar

Brief Personality: Aura is timid and to herself, keeping her thoughts and emotions inside. She's known for being solemn, cool-headed, and to the point. She never raises her voice beyond a whisper, and seems to be in the most total control of anyone every known to many that she meets. Logical, rational, and law-abiding explain her. But of course, that does not explain the thoughts bubbling to the surface inside of her... About... purpose, the meaning of life, and her heart's dimensions.

Summary: Born and bred perfection. She was smart, keen, and quick on her feet to be witty and logical. She was decided to be a Wasteland Scholar, someone who studied the workings of the world and rebirth of nature; though she was still kept securely in the dark about much truth. As a teenager, she finished school out early, and later began her scholar studies of nature and biology. Right now she is very early in the emergence of her field, but the more she learns the more she questions. And deep down, Aura knows that her field and level upon society make her a close watch and yet at once an easy slip by. Deep down she feels confusion and curiosity that she thinks eludes most.
