Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC Empty Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC

Post by Guest Thu May 27, 2010 8:22 pm

The known lands are divided into clans. These clans are divided by fear and prejudice. Wars have ravaged the lands for years, filling the empty plains between homesteads with the bones of the fallen. War is their way of life, the way of Man.

The prophecies speak of one who will reunite the clans under a single banner, a warrior of limitless power. This warrior will put a stop to the endless battles between the clans so that they can bring the wars to the lands beyond. According to the prophecies, this warrior will discover a way to cross the Rift, the great crack in the ground that separates their small world from the world beyond.

The time of this prophecy has arrived.

The chieftan of Udapak Clan, currently the strongest of the clans, steps out of his tent, a small bundle held in his arms. The entire clan, as well as its strongest allies, raise their arms and cry out in joy. The greatest moment of their lives is upon them. This child would bring an end to their suffering, and would bring the world into their reach.

The chieftan held one hand high above his head, the thick hide sleeve of his coat falling slightly to reveal his scarred arm. The crowd around him silenced, slowly.

The chieftan took a deep breath as he stared out at the assembled men.
"It is a girl."

The noise that erupted from the crowd was nothing like it had been moments ago: their joy had been replaced by outrage. Their hopes and dreams were shattered, the prophecy they had believed in for generations proven false. The warrior that should have been born this day was replaced by a useless girl. The crowd demanded justice.

The chieftan raised his hand high above his head once again, and slowly the noise ceased.

"She will die," said the chieftan. He lowered his hand to his belt and pulled free his bone knife. He stepped forward, the crowd made room for him. Still holding the bundled baby, the chieftan walked forward through the crowd, and the mass of bodies moved around him like waves against a rock.

Finally free of the crowd, the chieftan quickened his pace. His heart quickened in pace as well. The crowd stayed behind, not given permission to follow. The chieftan walked until he entered the sparse forest just beyond the encampment. He layed the bundle on the ground, and slowly began to unrap it. The child within began to cry as the cold, biting air touched her skin. The chieftan's heart cringed. He raised the knife above his head, both hands gripping the leather handle, twisting slightly as he tried to force the bone tip downward into the soft flesh of the child.

The chieftan's heart won over his scarred hands. He lowered the knife slowly.

"You will live," the chieftan said softly, the sound of his voice slightly diminishing the infant's cries. "You will fulfill the prophecies, and do what all before you could not."

The chieftan rewrapped the small bundle and moved it closer to the base of the nearest tree. He covered it again with leaves and twigs. The chieftan stood and turned back toward his home, where the crowd was still waiting just out of sight.

He would send his most trusted men to raise the babe, to teach her what she needed to know. She would fulfill her destiny, as the prophecies promised. He would see to it.

Characters:
The girl, the warrior of the prophecy - Miss Dagger
Warrior one, expert in close combat - quakernuts
Warrior two, expert in ranged combat - Skitzo-phrenick
Warrior three, knowledgeable in letters and history - Silvone Elestahr
Warrior four, knowledgeable in the arts of stealth - Open
Warrior five, a leader and tactician - Blackrock
Warrior six, silver-tongued - Inerio
Warrior seven, master craftsman - Skitzo-phrenick

The story will begin 20 or so years in the future.

The warriors are, of course, males. The clans' society is male-dominated. Females don't really have much of a place. Raising the girl would be done in secret, in an ancient city long abandoned by the nomadic clans. As the story progresses, the opportunity will arise to create new characters, including female characters. But this won't happen until the first step of the prophecy has completed: access to the outside world. I'm not sure how long that process will take either.

Their society is, obviously, militaristic. These people are warriors. Even the woman are hardened; any sign of softness could very well result in their death at the hands of the uncaring men. They live in a vicious cycle of self-destruction, which is why this prophecy is so important to them.

Warrior Character Sheets
Spoiler:

The Saviour
Spoiler:

I may or may not garner enough interest to fill in all of the character slots. If not, feel free to claim another warrior if you want. I may decide to do so myself. Also, NPC's may crop up now and again, depending on where the story goes. If you want to claim an NPC, you can do that as well. Obviously not anyone to central to the story, such as a main villain. I'm sure everyone would rather that remain an NPC.

Once again, I would like to stress the necessity of collaboration. Everyone has shared the same experiences since taking this girl as their charge. Maybe a few of them were absent from a few battles or travels, depending on circumstances. But, overall, they travel as a group.

If we don't live together, we'll die alone." /end shameless LOST advertisement through quote

Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC Empty Re: Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC

Post by SpaceWheeler2.0 Fri May 28, 2010 1:24 am

*Work in Progress...*

Name: Gydraug the Long-armed

Age: 51

Expertise: Ranged Combat (Warrior Two)

Clan: Udapak

Physical description: Gydraug stands at a good six feet and four inches in height. Although he is slender when compared to most soldiers, his trade with a bow has resulted in his arms being very well-built, his left arm especially so. Because of this, his upper body looks slightly large in proportion to his torso and legs, and the difference in arm size from right to left makes him appear lop-sided. He keeps his brown hair, which is now noticeably graying, at a length falling a couple inches below the shoulder, usually banded back loosely with a leather cord. Whenever possible, he shaves away facial hair, finding that is uncomfortable when drawing a bow if it grows too long. Gydraug has a fairly rounded facial structure, with a partially crooked nose, grayish-green eyes, and a long scar running the upper part of his left cheek from below the eye nearly to the ear.

For attire, Gydraug wears finely made clothing, though of a very casual style for his status. He also wears a hide tabard, only wide enough at the shoulders as to not hinder his draw of the bow. At almost any time, a decorated leather bracer is fitted on his left forearm, functional by purpose but holding a strong symbolism. He also wears a leather “shooting glove,” covering the entire hand, but thickened on the middle and ring fingers with the tips of the fore-, middle-, and ring- fingers cut off to allow smooth “loose” of the bowstring.

Mentality: Gydraug is a sharp, calculating individual, and particularly observant. These skills loan themselves well to his success as an archer, a hunter, and a warrior. Aside from this, he is a gentle and loyal man. He enjoys a good laugh, although he is not usually responsible for the jokes, and is often serious otherwise. He doesn’t mind company, but large crowds and condensed spaces make him uncomfortable. In battle the man maintains a calm demeanor, even after being forced to set aside his bow and arrows for a sword and axe.

Gydraug’s relations with his fellow guardians are mostly stable enough. He takes his duty with a silent pride and honor, as he cannot speak of it to most. He views the girl he has been charged with protecting as though she is a daughter of his own. The prophecy itself is something that he accepts with suspicion. These kinds of claims are made often, in his opinion, but the girl does have something special about her, and many talents. Regardless of whether the prophecy is real, Gydraug is bound by his honor and duty to serve the Chief of Clan Udapak, and he does not accept failure from himself.

Heritage: The family line that Gydraug descends from has only become known for its warriors within the past three generations. His father is Gylz, a large man known for his strength in battle, though not a particularly heroic figure of lore. His grandfather was Gylian the Eagle-eyed, a warrior of great renown who also became a wise tactician and general. Gydraug is the only son of his father, but has three older sisters. He had two uncles, the first of which died in the Battle of a Thousand Arrows, and the second, along with the children he had, is no longer ever mentioned within their family, as they disserted Clan Udapak after the prophecy was spoiled.

Gydraug owns many heirlooms, being the only son of his father. His most prized possession is the silver-banded bracer he wears. It is decorated in a grand fashion on the side facing outward from his arm. He also owns a bear-skull “helm” that his father often wore in battle for intimidation. Items such as old swords, and even a bronze shield, are in his possession, tokens of his father and grandfather from their days as warriors.

Most important of all, Gydraug learned his primary knowledge of the bow from his aging grandfather. Gylian the Eagle-eyed was one of the first men of Clan Udapak and its allies to try and push forward the importance of the bow as a tool of war. Gylian had traveled northward as a young man, eager for adventure and knowledge. When he returned after five years, he brought back unique knowledge that few had obtained prior. Gylian knew of the warfare in the North many decades before those clans would turn their attention South toward Udapak. He began a quest to develop new techniques for constructing formidable warbows, but these tools were rarely used by his fellows because of their over-utility for anything but killing men. Archers simply used their hunting bows in war, and that seemed satisfying enough for the times. When his grandson reached the age of ten, despite Gylz’s hesitations, Gylian began teaching the boy what he knew of the bow.

History: Gydraug’s childhood was the same as any other young boy’s up until the age of ten. Much to his mother’s and grandmother’s dismay, he eagerly began training with a bow under his grandfather’s tutelage. Only once every five days, he would practice target shooting, working on his stance and aim. Once each passage of the moon he would be allowed to follow his grandfather and uncle on a hunting trip. He learned quickly, enthused by the heroic stories his grandfather had of war, his own father being gone often for war parties or for meetings with allies of Udapak. This training went on until the spring of his twentieth year, and then he was given his first experience of war at the Battle of a Thousand Arrows.

The devastating range of the enemy’s masterful bowmen was thought to be the deciding factor of the battle. Despite the pitiful return fire by the few Udapak archers, there were two men capable of nearly firing back at the Northmen, even up the hill. Gydraug and his grandfather, having trained with warbows nearly on par with the Northmen, loosed their own arrows that day in defiance of the enemy. They had attempted to lead a band of archers to flank the enemy, though the group was quickly dispatched, and Gylian’s bow arm was pierced by an arrow, preventing him from fighting for the rest of the battle.

The next day, as preparations were made for Vroshk’s plan, Gydraug spent much of his time skirmishing with some of the enemy archers. He was likely considered a mere nuisance, as only a handful of the Northmen were charged with countering the lone warrior. One by one, Gydraug picked off the archers that pursued him into the forest, all but one, which became a sort of rival for the young man. Gydraug had nearly expended his arrows as he loosed one after another in feeble attempts at striking down his opponent. At some point, the two lost track of each other, leaving them to wander back to their own camps for the night. The day of the final charge, Gydraug decided to act as an additional factor of distraction with the main force, loosing his arrows from behind the protective cover of the shielded warriors. Just as the ambush force had broken the treeline, a single arrow found its way to the young warrior’s face. He had reacted just before being hit, but it cut a long gash across his left cheek, stretching from under the eye back to his ear. He refused to accept that any archer but the opponent he had eluded the day before could be responsible for such a shot. His feud did not end properly, though, as he never saw the man to slay him. Instead, Gydraug had to accept that his first true enemy, at a personal level, was probably somewhere among the many that died that day.

No, you don't. At least, not until we've come up with some more information concerning the clan. Since it is everyone's clan (except for the few that may not be a part of it) it is hard to say at the moment.

Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC Empty Re: Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC

Post by Guest Fri May 28, 2010 9:23 pm

Name: Xzadri the Saviour

Age: 16

Physical Description: Xzadri is 5 feet and 1 inch tall, but she still haven't had her growth sprout. She is gangly for her height and her muscles are lean, rather than bulky. Her skin is a shade darker than milk chocolate and most of her hair is black, beside the right half of her bangs, which is a brown-blonde color. For practical reason she keeps her hair only an inch past her shoulders in length and she always keeps it braided, beside the blonde bangs. Her face is still soft and round with youth. Her eyes matches her hair by being a light brown with yellow specks. Prominent cheekbones gives her face some angles and her upper lip is thin.

She usually wears clothing she can fight in. She have never owned skirts, and isn't really interested in getting any. Her clothes is mostly made of leather, the better to protect her than cloth, and it's not like they had a female that could make any kind of cloth in the camp anyway. On her belt she always have a sword and long dagger. The dagger have etchings on the blade. It's a dagger that she got from her father, through one of the warriors. If she ever have to prove that she is her father's daughter, she only has to show the dagger since it's rather famous among the clans. It's perfectly functional in battle too. Xzadri usually have a bow close by too.

Mentality: Xzadri thinks it's unfair that she couldn't grow up with her family because of a "stupid" prophesy. However, that doesn't mean she hates the warriors who raised her. She doesn's understand why a normal life was taken away from her. From time to time, she gets really angry about this, having temper tantrums even at her age (hormones doesn't help the matter). She enjoys fighting a lot, actually any physical activities. Moving around, using her body to its fullest potential is freeing. If she gets strong enough, she can do whatever she wants, and no one could stop her. She wants freedom.

Heritage: All through her childhood she was told about all the great things her father had done, but she could only think about what he didn't do: raise her. Sidnahg, the chieftan of Udapak and Xzadri's father, was a strong and wise leader. He knew that sometimes following tradition was not the right path, for example when he choose not to kill Xzadri. Sidnahg comes from a family of warriors and leaders, were almost all of the first borns have been the chieftan. After the "false" prophecy happened, a lot of the people in Udapak was very angry at Sidnahg and they wanted someone else to take his place. Before that could happen, one of Udapak's allied clans turned their backs to Udapak. Soon the rest of the clans, except Idan, followed. Udapak's clan members realized that if they wanted to survive the alienation, they needed Sidnahg, since he was the one that had gotten them in such good standing from the beginning. They reasoned that if he could do it once, he had to do it twice. Therefore Sidnahg has worked relentlessly for the last 16 years to keep the clan together and alive.

Relationships:
Kilahi the Stone-Faced - Xzadri is never really sure where she stands with Kilahi. He acts as her subordinate and trains her well. She trains hard to please him, since the better she gets the more he seems to like her. When he told her his rule for engaging real opponents, she immediately wanted to do that. She got bored having to be hidden away from the world and just train, and study, train and study. Xzadri likes Kilahi, but she doesn't think he likes her very much.

Ranohg the Wise - Xzadri doesn't like Ranohg much, because she doesn't exist to him; at least that is what she feels. He takes the time to teach her, especially about the prophecy. The rest of the time it's just his studies. Sometimes he is social, but to her it seems so false. She's the prophecy to him, not much else. He keeps a close eye at her, to she what she does and if she's fullfilling the prophecy. That doesn't really make her comfortable.

Vroshk One-Eye - Xzadri likes Vroshk. He states clearly what he expects of her, and makes sure she does everything to the best of her ability. All the time he's trying to push her to become better. He's not an easy teacher, but neither is he cruel. He isn't easy to please, but when she manages it, she feels accomplished. She knows exactly where she stand with him, and due to this she feels compelled to work harder at his lessons, struggling to do the best she can, even if it isn't physical training.

Demroc the Forthright - Xzadri loves Demroc. He behaves as if she is his niece and in return he's like her uncle. To her it feels as if he treats her like a normal person instead of a saviour or object. For his sake, she works hard at mastering the bow and the crafts he teaches her, although she actually likes close combat better. Whenever she needs a shoulder to cry on, or just someone to make her feel normal, she turns to Demroc.

The Teller Barais - Xzadri loves the fun that Barais teaches her. The older she gets the harder it has been for him to do his pranks on her, and the better she have become of pranking the other warriors. Usually she focuses her pranks on those warriors she doesn't like as much and sometimes she tries to pull one on Barais for fun. This is one of the few things that can always lighten her day, although she doesn't like lieing to her teacher, especially Demroc and Vroshk. Xzadri likes Barais and takes what he teaches to heart, because she knows that when brutal force doesn't fix something her mind and tongue just might.

Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC Empty Re: Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC

I would like to claim Warrior 5, the tactician, unless someone else has already done so. The character sheet may or may not be up today, I like to get all things straightened out before I actually post it, so yeah. Depends on how much I decide to include. The CS will, of course, be updated to better fit those of other players (such as mentality, what my character thinks of the other warriors, etc.)

As for surnames, the way I view it - this society isn't so advanced as to have the concept of a family name. Besides, since we (or most of us) will be part of the same clan, the family...in this case clan name will be Udapak, right? For a de facto surname though, I think titles is the way to go.

Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC Empty Re: Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC

Post by Fluff Sat May 29, 2010 5:17 am

Name: Axel the Swift

Age: 46 years of age.

Expertise: Stealth Combat (Warrior four)

Physical description: Axel is a wiry little man, lithe and rather on the scrawny side. At 5'4", he is small enough to be thought a runt next to his larger clansmen. Although he bears much less muscle, his body's weakness has spurred him to find new strengths, and his skinny fingers have a finesse unrivaled by anyone for leagues around. His short-cropped hair is thoroughly grey, and he sports a small goatee on the tip of his chin which he likes to stroke when he thinks. He is rather devilishly handsome and doesn't mind playing it up from time to time, a trait which would have earned him a reputation if he wasn't so good at avoiding just that. He is soft-spoken and mild most of the time, unsually so for a clansman, but his easygoing demeanor belies his lethal precision with any object he lays hands upon. His hands themselves are incredibly scarred, and while the rest of his body bears not even a shaving scrape, his fingers are laced with intricate patterns of half-healed cuts and scratches from years past.

Heritage: Axel's father was a man renowned for his size, his strength, and his tendency towards violent intoxication; his mother died in childbirth from the same complications that brought about his unusually small stature. To say that Axel was a disappointment to him would have been an understatement. One night, in a drunken frenzy, he began chasing the teenage Axel through the camp with a spear and would have killed him had Axel not strangled him with his own belt. The taint of patricide, even in self-defense, is the only heritage that Axel bears.

History: Axel has proven himself as good as any larger man time and time again, riding into battle with weighted lassos, spiked chains, and barbed whips with an uncanny ability to seek out larger throats. While his post at the center of camp bears just as many kill-notches as any other warrior's, it is in less scrupulous warfare that he has truly shone. In the Year of the Black Clouds, seven years before the "false" prophecy, he garrotted the high chieftain Zakka Kjun in his camp the night before he rode to make war on the Udapak clan, in the days when Zakka Kjun ruled three whole clans and desired to rule more. His right-hand man would have continued to war even without him, but when the horsemen rode out for the camp of clan Udapak, they found that the trees had been strung for miles around with thin lengths of sharp wire. The attack failed, and the three clans fell into disorder. Clan Udapek and its allies routed them and sent them limping back to their own land, and Udapek went on to become the greatest clan over the rest. It was this service that earned Axel a place as one of the chieftain's most trusted men, and ultimately led his path to cross with the infant's.

Clan: Udapek.

Mentality: Axel is almost always calm and reserved. Rumor has it that all the while he was strangling his own father to death, he wore the same friendly smile that he wears listening to stories around the campfire. His mild-mannered ways are considered highly unnerving among the clans' aggressive, blunt-spoken society, especially given his capacity for unseen violence. In battle, he chooses a single target and stalks it until it breathes no more, then casts his attention towards new prey. He is the same in romance, in jest, and in camraderie, never breaking his silence until he deems a woman worth pursuing, a question worth answering, or a joke worth finishing. Inscrutable and attentive, he is also extremely patient with his young charge, and has never been seen to lose his temper with her once.

Great job, everyone! I'll try to have my character sheet up by the end of the weekend, if not sooner (hopefully). And then I'll try to get this started near the end of the week. Depends on how school goes for me. If we don't have all of the slots filled by the time we start, the remaining warriors can just be NPC's until someone is ready to join and take over.

Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC Empty Re: Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC

Post by SpaceWheeler2.0 Sat May 29, 2010 7:23 pm

All right, so does anyone have any ideas to collaborate on? There are several areas we need to work together over, especially the history portion.

From how I see it, there will be more than just service during the past 16 years of their duty to protect and raise the Savior. I'm sure that those of our characters that are of Clan Udapak would have fought in wars together prior to the task, and possibly even a few since then (albeit not possibly all of us and a child at once for the latter). The characters couldn't simply vanish from our heroic spotlight without someone noticing.

Also, I'm contemplating whether the character should have a particularly rocky past with one of the other warriors. It's just an idea, and I haven't really thought of details or how to work it out, so it's wide open at this point.

So yeah, I'm working out my character sheet and will hopefully get most of my information all sorted out for the first part or middle of the coming week. This has a great potential for becoming quite the epic adventure!

I'd love to give you more input on the historical stuff, but frankly that's kind of hard to do when we only have two warrior sheets up.

Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC Empty Re: Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC

Post by quakernuts Sun May 30, 2010 10:55 pm

Name: Kilahi the Stone-Faced
Age: 49
Expertise: Close Combat (Warrior one)
Physical description: Kilahi stands at an ordinary 5’10. His arms and legs are decievingly small compared to the average warrior, but are built with wiry muscles that are meant for speed rather than brute strength. Several scars litter his body, none of which hamper his ability in any way. His face always seems turned into a frown, his pointy nose and average length hair make him look completely grumpy all the time. His eyes, a deep blue, are overshadowed due to an extended brow ridge. Grey definition runs along his temples, but otherwise shows no other signs of aging. Wrinkles have yet to show up on his person, and he works and fights like that of a spry young twenty year old.
Kilahi wears light leather armor all around his body. A bear pelt is used when he gets cold, and his scabbards are attached to his back. Spiked gloves are worn in times of battle, but are otherwise absent from his usual clothing.
Heritage: Kilahi comes from a long line of distinguished warriors. His name being derived from one of the first forefathers of his lineage. Kilahi grew up among the clan of Idan, a closely allied and often used clan of Udapak. His father, Hyrule, was a great warrior among the clan, living up to their distinguished heritage. From a young age, Kilahi was taught to fight and nothing else. His mother was pretty much non-existant. Kilahi doesn’t even remember her name or face. Hyrule died in battle through choice, not be being bested. He refused to succumb to old age, and went alone against another rival clan to a warrior’s death.
History: Kilahi’s childhood was brutal, bloody, and relentless. The Idan clan, who put their warriors above anything else, trains all their male children to be warriors of renown. Kilahi showed promise from an early age, and as he grew in age, power, and renown, the clan leader saw just what this one man could do. From early age of twenty one, he was initiated into the Brykers. Most men work their entire lives trying to enter this prestigious group, and the standard entering age for these warriors is late twenties and early thirties. From there, Kilahi only continued to impress. He lacked the skills necessary to be a leader, but as a straight forward fighter he was simply one of the best there was. It was not with arrogance or selfish pride that he accepted this, but with a confidence bled on countless battlefields. It was with this confidence that he fought in the Charge of Hero’s Gorge and the Battle of a Thousand Arrows.

Kilahi’s role in the Battle of a Thousand Arrows was small. He had simply been positioned with Udapak, waiting for a relief unit of the Brykers to come by. No less than three Brykers were to be with Udapak at all times per their alliance treaties, and Kilahi had spent nearly a week among the clan. He had not disliked the position, but was eager to go off and help his own clan fight their own wars. It was two days before his replacement came that the battle took place. When the Northmen had attacked, Kilahi had been among the first to try and rush the hill.

It was with great humiliation that Kilahi had to force a retreat. His allies and friends were being torn apart by the Northmen’s bows with such indifference that it was like cows to the slaughter. Kilahi had managed to escape with a few glancing blows due to the use of another man’s body as a shield. Once back at the Udapak camp, he found out that Udapak’s Master of Warbands had been slain in the attack. From there, a man had stepped up and came up with a plan. At the time, Kilahi hadn’t managed to grab the warrior’s name, but agreed with the plan. Being part of the Brykers, it was only natural that he would go with the ambush party.

So they had set out the next day, the bulk of the army rushing up the field while a small squad consisting of warriors from Udapak and the three Brykers made their way around. What happened when they got to the unprotected flanks of the archers was repayment for what happened to their warriors the previous day. The ambush party was cold, merciless, and remorseless. The massacre only lasted a few minutes, but managed to make it into Udapak’s history of battles. Kilahi was thanked for his service to Udapak, and was then relieved by his fellow Brykers to return to his clan.

The Charge of Hero’s Gorge is best compared a charging bull. Idan and Udapak had formed a united front against one of their rival clans, Hurek. Hurek had managed to increase in size to the point where their land was no longer able to hold the entire clan anymore. They went on a campaign through the land, choosing to grab what they could while they had the chance. They managed to take over many smaller clans before running upon Udapak and Idan territory.

From there, it was one battle that would decide the fate of the two clans. There would be no limping off to regain their strength. If Hurek won, they would erase Idan and Udapak from history so that they had room to expand, while if Idan/Udapak won, they wouldn’t allow Hurek to rebuild, and would hunt them to extinction. Many smaller skirmishes took place, but the only one that mattered happened on an expanse of land with two hills and a deep valley. As both clans lined up on their respective hills, it was easy to tell that it was a archer’s paradise. The Chieftain of clan Idan was at the head of the force. Twenty Brykers were lined up behind him, each one of them hefting their weapons of choice and ready for violence. The Chieftain of Idan raised his sword, and let out a war cry that was heard throughout the valley. The entire combined force of Udapak and Idan raised their weapons and roared as well, and then they charged down the sides of the valley like ants crawling out of an anthill. Archers released their arrows, but once both sides clashed, were forced to stop. The two forces had gotten so tangled up that it was impossible to simply fire at the enemy. If the archers were to fire, they would hit their own men just as often as they would hit the enemy. From then on out, it was an all out brawl.

The men of Idan and Udapak were more skilled than the men of Hurek, but the simple tactic of numbers was wearing them down too quickly for much of that skill to be put to use. Both sides were at a standstill, then Hurek started to slowly gain ground. Soon, Idan and Udapak were at the base of their hill. It seemed that Hurek would then simply force one last charge, and kill them all with their backs to a wall. Suddenly, a giant of a man cleaved his way through the ranks of Hurek warriors. He was swiftly followed by eighteen men who proceeded to open a hole wide enough for five cows to walk side by side though. Standing on the other side was the Chieftain of clan Idan and his Brykers.

The warriors of Hurek, stunned by this sudden charge, were blunted in their attack. Seeing the opportunity, the Brykers charged the backs of the Hurek warriors, and soon numbers didn’t matter. Hurek was quickly whittled down to a few warriors who tried to flee in terror. They didn’t get far, and then the rest was devoted to hunting the last remnants of clan Hurek.

After the battle and the hunting had been done, a great feast was held for the two clans to celebrate their victory together. Once there, everyone told of their martial prowess in the battlefield, but the Brykers remained quiet. When they were asked why they did not talk about their exploits, Kilahi answered for the group solemnly. “We did what we had to, so that our clans may live. We are not warriors of glory, but of dignity and honor.” Seeing as they were not going to speak up, the Chieftain of clan Idan himself stood up, and told of their glorious charge into the enemy. In total, the Brykers had lost only four of their men. If Udapak had any doubts as to the Bryker’s abilities before then, there were no doubts after the Chieftain had finished his tale. In the end, a salute was made to the warriors of the Brykers, who received with a simple nod of their heads and raise of their tankards.

From there, Kilahi participated in many other battles, but none of them on such a scale as the Charge of Hero’s Gorge. Upon hearing the prophecy, the Chieftain of Udapak asked him to train the girl in the ways of close combat due to an oath made earlier on in his life. Kilahi accepted, and his sense of duty and honor will not let him fail.

Clan: Idan.

Idan is a clan closely allied to Udapak. So close, in fact, that they often share base camps and their clans mingle as if there were no difference between the two. Idan is more of a religious, lightning strike fighting force. They prefer to fight with swords or any weapon of fitness rather than brute force such as a hammer or an axe. They are known mainly for their specialized fighting force, named the Brykers, after the very first leader of clan Idan. These warriors are akin to Gods on the battlefield, their training and duty held higher than that of any neighboring clan. The force itself is small, due to the high casuality rates of the training, and the suicide missions these men are sent on. Kilahi is part of the Brykers.

Religiously, they believe that clan leaders who have proved their worth, die and become almighty beings that control the fate of clan Idan from the afterlife. Many times, chants invoking the names of long dead warriors will be heard from the camps of Idan, and many times, their faith has been told to keep their men going through impossible odds without losing morale. Due to this, clan leaders of Idan do not just fight in the battles, but must lead the Brykers in order to prove himself to their clan gods and eventually end up among the tribe of the chosen himself.

Kilahi, being part of the Brykers, was already a good choice for training the girl. Kilahi had fought in a few battles with the Chieftan of Udapak, and respected him as a warrior only could. Later on in his life, Kilahi found the strength of clan Udapak to be justified, and swore an oath that should the Chieftan ever need his aid, he only needed to ask. Well, the Chieftan decided to call in that favor, and while Kilahi wasn’t exactly to pleased to comply, his honor, duty, and oath to the chieftan compelled him to do so. He accepted without a moment’s hesitation.

In short, Idan is best compared to a well crafted sword. Their close combat skills are near unparrelled, while their ranged tactics leave much to be desired due to them putting more emphasis on fighting their foe face to face. Their leadership invokes high morale due to them eventually becoming gods, but their strategies and tactics are not any more advanced then the next clan. They are closely allied with Udapak, and would aid them in a moments notice as if they were their own.

Mentality: Kilahi follows the tradition his clan has set for themselves by fully believing in the clan leader gods. He can often be found praying to them, in hopes that they will bestow upon him some great battle in which to prove himself once more. He is not pleased that the prophesy turned out to be a girl, but realizes both from his oath and the legend, that he must do his duty. So, to make sure he never forgets his place, he acts like the girl’s subject. He never places himself above her, and when his patience runs out, he asks to be excused for the night so he can meditate and remove his anger from his thoughts.

Kilahi is not known for his social skills, and rarely finds the need or want to talk to anyone. If they were to approach him and start a conversation, he would respectably reply but not to the point where he shows interest in the conversation. His relationship with fellow soldiers is based upon just how strong they are as a warrior. If they are a warrior that has gotten by on luck alone, or by riding someone else’s skill, then he will dismiss them without another thought. The warriors he is with though, have all gained his respect, and he will treat them with such.

In battle, his quiet and cold demeanor turns loud and hot. His mind goes into a rage that connects to his arm, and projects through his two swords. He will often yell his name to hs attacker so they know who killed them. He is filled with confidence and pride on the battlefield, and for good reason.

Alright, so there he is. I’m leaving the history until we have some sort of idea as to what the battles are going to be. Other than that, I hope this is alright and I’ll probably be fixing it later on to fit in with the history and the lore of the setting.

Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC Empty Re: Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC

Right, here's my character sheet. Sorry for the delay, but I was at this birthday on Saturday, which carried on until Sunday...so yeah, I spent the remainder of the day sobering up. Monday was just horribly busy, so I couldn't finish it then. Enough excuses though, here it is: (of course, I'll add more as we start weaving our character together)

Name: Vroshk One-Eye

Age: 58

Expertise: Leader and tactician (Warrior Five).

Physical description: Vroshk is a tall man, standing at about six feet and three inches. He is broad-shouldered, with big, calloused hands - the result of his harsh, battle-filled life. That said, he is not overly muscular, age and vocation have seen to that. Nevertheless, he is lean and tough and can still stand toe to toe with younger men, despite the passing of time. Although he shares his clansmen's dark hair and dark eyes, Vroshk has fairer skin - from his father's side. A neatly-trimmed beard covers his face, concealing many a scar gathered over his long life. The once black hair, now mostly grey, is kept close-cropped. A black eye-patch covers his left eye, which was lost long ago. His nose is small and short, his forehead is wrinkled, but his remaining eye is still young and full of life.

He typically dresses in simple leathers or furs, along with a cloak, made from the skins of different beasts, to ward off the cold. In gentler weather, a leather vest covers his upper-body, while loose pants covers his lower. Regardless of the time of year, he always wears sturdy boots, reaching just below the knee. Vroshk is a man of simple tastes, thus his attire is always in earthen colours, mostly brown, or dark green. In battle, he wears a woven breastplate of overlapping leather strips. Leather shoulder guards offer slight protection, but do not hinder flexibility. A pair of leather braces protect parts of his arm, they are inscribed with runes - each marking a victory. Finally, a leather helmet with nose and cheek guards offers some protection to the head. He uses a sword, well-made but plain, which rests on his back. In addition, a round, wooden shield is used, bearing the markings of the clan.

Heritage: Vroshk's grandfather was a renowned hunter in his clan, a master tracker and a famous wanderer. He travelled far and often, leaving behind clan and kin for many days and nights. He was of the Frimar, who dwell north and east of the Udapak lands and are known for their height, fair skin and hair and icy-blue eyes. One day, when chasing a great boar across the forests, he came upon a young woman. He fell in love and stayed with her clan, the Udapak, who quickly welcomed the stranger as their own, thanks to his skill with the bow. In time, he had a son, who would, in turn, have one of his own some day - Vroshk. Vroshk did not inherit his grandfather's looks, save for his skin and height, but he has sharp eyes and good hearing, a common trait amongst the Frimar.

History: Vroshk was born in the family of a warrior, Thingor. Thingor was a man of great strenght, both of the body and the mind, he possessed a fiery spirit and a stout heart. He was a very tall man, due to his father's heritage, and in time, won himself the title "Longstride". His father was from a different clan, but that did not stop the young Thingor from being one of the Udapak's best warriors. He defended the honour of his clan, both at home and abroad and was known to be a man of his word. When he had a son, Vroshk, he vowed he would make a great warrior of him. As such, from an early age, Vroshk was thrown into a life of violence. Harsh training, exercise - physical and mental, to strengthen his arm and harden his spirit. He learned to fight with arm and sword and axe and bow. But he also inherited his father's honesty and determination, which shaped him into the man he is today. When Vroshk came of age, when he became a man and a true warrior, by killing his first foe in a fight, his life would change. Thingor told his son that there was a place for only one warrior in any one household and that his time was over. The old warrior departed not long after, to die a warrior's death, fighting the enemies of his clan.

Vroshk followed in his father's footsteps. He continued honing his skills with the blade, while he made a name for himself as a warrior. But there was something his father and grandfather lacked - he could inspire others to fight with him. He was not a man of many words and yet, when his warcries roared, others followed. His cunning and keen wit soon saw him as a leader of a warband. And even though that was an important step for him, it was not the greatest. His moment of glory came some fifteen years before the false prophecy, it was the victory in the Battle of a Thousand Arrows, as it was known afterward.

The clans of the North, that dwelt beyond the mountains came down on the Udapak and their allies, during one chilly spring. The northmen were masters of the bow and they used it against the lightly armoured Udapak to great effect. During the first battle, many of their foes found their deaths, mowed down by the northern arrows before they even reached their ranks. In this battle the Chieftain's right-hand man, the leader of his armies, the Master of Warbands was killed, an inglorious death, dealt by an arrow. In the confusion following, one man decided to make a stand - Vroshk. He rallied those he could and went to the Chieftain with a plan. The northmen were positioned on a hill, a wide field in front of it, and a forest running down its western side. The frontal assault against it had failed miserably, but they had not yet advanced. The archers were waiting for another attack, another chance to bleed their foes from this defended position. Vroshk suggested that the majority of their remaining forces should advance up the hill again. But this time they would not blindly rush in to be killed. No, they would build shields. Not small, man-held shields, but bigger ones. Formed of stakes and vines and other such. With these shields they would draw the attention of the northmen, who would try to destroy them before the Udapak could reach them. Meanwhile, on the eve of the battle, aided by the cover of darkness, Vroshk would have led a group of battle-hardened men into the forest. When the assault was sounded and the shielded warriors advanced, this small group of master warriors would fall upon the hated northmen. The archers would not suspect this, Vroshk assured the Chieftain, due to the large number of men on the field.

Seeing no other alternative, the Chieftain agreed. In a day, the shields were ready and the Udapak would advance again. The battle developed much as Vroshk had suspected. The archers, arrogant atop their hill, began unleashing a storm of arrows against the shields. Some were set aflame, others did not prove to be as strong as expected. But it did not matter, for Vroshk's men had made their move. They descended upon the unsuspecting northmen, most of which did not even have other weapons apart from bows. The infantry they had was quickly overwhelmed. What followed was a massacre. When the northmen's ranks broke, the Udapak threw aside their shields and charged the hill, joining their clansmen already there. Trapped between these two forces, the archers were decimated. Few of them managed to return home. They did not dare to set foot on Udapak soil again.

Following the battle, Vroshk was made the new Master of Warbands. But nothing comes without a price. In the battle, an arrow had found his left eye and it would have cost him his life. A shaman, however, skilled in the arts of healing managed to remove it without further complications, save for the loss of the eye. The healer told Vroshk that he must surely be blessed, for avoiding death in such a situation was rare indeed. Despite his injury, the new Master of Warbands proved his worth many times over. Helping his tribe secure its place as the dominant power in the region. After the false prophecy, the Chieftain had a task for him. Along with others, he would help raise the young girl, Vroshk had to teach her to be leader of men. He accepted without a second thought, giving a solemn vow to do all in his power. And thus, he departed, leaving his wife and two sons, now grown men, behind.

Time may have left its mark on his features, but his wit is still keen and his sword arm has strength yet. It cannot be otherwise, for he has a sacred duty to fulfill.

Clan: Udapak. Despite his forefather being from another clan, two generations have passed since then and Vroshk is considered as an Udapak.

Mentality: Vroshk is not the most sociable of men. In groups, he talks rarely, rather preferring to answer. Instead he listens and makes note of most things he sees or hears, which could always prove useful later. His memory is strong indeed and he remembers names and faces easily. Despite his not-so-talkative nature, his demeanor instills a sense of respect. He is clearly not a man who would ask for something twice. In battle, he keeps a level-head and is not unwilling to sacrifice a life or two, including his own, if it would bring victory. Despite his position as a leader, he listens to his men first and hear their thoughts on matters. Sometimes merely agreeing with their plans, rather than making his own. Only when things spiral out of hand does he step in and reveals his second nature, that of an iron-handed warlord.

Vroshk is not certain on what to make of the prophecy. He believes that there is a power greater than Man out there, but he has yet to see it. Our paths may have been charted for us in advance, but it is still up to us to walk them. Those are his thoughts on matters, as such - he prefers focusing on the here and now, rather than depending on things such as "fate". He has told his ward likewise, warning her that the path before her will be long and hard and she may not even reach its end. The girl is more than a person to him, she is his duty and honour, for he swore to teach and protect her.

The other warriors he regards with respect because, like him, they are there to ensure the young girl becomes what the prophecy demands of her. Ranohg is a bit of a mystery to the warlord, like all learned men. While Vroshk cannot deny the power of knowledge, he does not understand how it can be a goal, not a tool. What worth is there in the ancient tomes if their hidden wisdom is not used for the betterment of oneself and the tribe? Regardless of his musings, he values and respects the old man for his wisdom. Kilahi is another individual Vroshk greatly respects, owed more to luck than anything else. Not only does he honour him as a Bryker, of their worth there can be no doubt, he also learned that they fought side by side once. When Vroshk came to know that another of the girl's protectors was present at the Battle of a Thousand Arrows, in his small force no less, his respect was assured. And even though the former Master of Warbands was present at the Charge of Hero's Gorge, his first real battle always has a special place in his heart.

Barais is a figure Vroshk would loathe, were the circumstances different. A man who hides behind words is no man at all, that is common knowledge to any warrior. And yet, while it cannot be denied that his methods might not be what a real man would do, the Saviour is no man at all. Having spent most of his years in a grim struggle with life, on the battlefield and off, Vroshk knows that every bit of wit and guile will be of use when the time comes. That is why he tolerates and respects this strange teacher, hoping that his methods will show Xzadri that the world is cruel and unjust. Demroc is a person that is easily liked by Vroshk. The warlord respects the stranger for his desire to learn the Udapak tongue and his growing proficiency in it. Not only that, the man is skilled in all aspects of his craft. A master of the bow, in all ways, is not a common occurrence. Seeing as Vroshk values skill above all else, it is no surprise that he respects his foreign companion.

If you notice anything amiss, do let me know.

Also, I was wondering - when writing about my character's weapons, I was thinking what material the sword was made from? From what I've gathered, the setting is pretty low-technology. Would the Udapak even know what iron, let alone steel, is? Would they work it? Maybe bronze then?

They may have knowledge of how to work iron, since there will be remains of ancient towns and cities they have long since abandoned, as well as other technologies. The problem is their limited access to it. I would imagine that some clans would have iron weapons, but they would likely disappear as time goes on. At this point there may be very few of them left. Perhaps some could be found, as well, weapons of an older time.

The materials they would frequently work now would be of less quality, like bronze. The less skilled fighters would perhaps be stuck with something as primitive as bone...?

Edit: I've read through what has been posted so far. I really love what you guys have come up with Smile This will be epic indeed! I'm working on my own character sheet now. Not sure when it will be done though.

Edit-edit: Because of the presence of a master craftsmen, as well as a historian, I would assume that they would have the ability to locate sources of iron and work it into weapons. While it may not be feasible on a large-scale, I can't see why our own group wouldn't have access to such materials.

Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC Empty Re: Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC

Post by Guest Tue Jun 01, 2010 5:18 pm

Name: Ranohg the Wise

Age: 60

Expertise: Knowledgeable in letters and history (warrior three)

Physical description: Ranohg looks far beyond his years, and this is the result of more time spent in mental training than physical training. While Ranohg was trained from a young age, as all boys are in the Udapak tribe, to wield and kill with a weapon, his area of expertise has slowly shifted from fighting to learning. Ranohg’s eyesight is failing, and his once-vibrant amber eyes are now a pale yellow. His long white hair is thinning, a result of constant tugging and swiping born of frustration or concentration. Several scars mark his arms, chest and face, though they are a testament more to his decreasing ability as a warrior than his bravery in battle.

Despite his shift in ideals, Ranohg can still wield a blade. His diminishing eye-sight has begun to cause problems for him, and many of his most recent battle wounds are the result of not being able to keep track of the blade he is striving to defend. Ranogh is far less worried about that, however. What he truly fears is no longer being able to read the ancient books scattered across their lands, testaments to the ways they have long since abandoned and forgotten.

Ranohg wears more armor than many warriors would consider wise. Thick leather armor covers his torso and arms, as well as his thighs. High boots nearly reach his knees. He wears thick, fingerless gloves (so that he can still deftly turn the page of a book, if not twirl a sword) that are reinforced along the palm and back with small strips of leather. Ranohg has accepted the fact that he can no longer fight as well as many of the enemies he will cross paths with, and has given up freedom of movement for pure, stubborn defense.

Heritage: Ranohg does not descend from a line of renown warriors or leaders. Nor have any of his ancestors shared his love of history or the written word. Ranohg’s father died in the War of a Thousand Arrows, fifteen years before the birth of the Saviour. He, among many others, was struck and killed by an arrow. His grandfather was killed sixty years ago, on the day of Ranohg’s birth, in a small battle between Udapak and a neighboring tribe. His grandfather was one of three losses suffered by the Udapak.

Ranohg was taught his letters by his mother, though she died before he turned ten. He believes his love for history and knowledge stems from her, and his lack of skill with a blade from his father’s own line.

History: Ranohg was treated poorly by his father, considered a disappointment despite his father’s own lack of prestige. Ranohg could fight just as well as his father, but his pursuit of knowledge over status in the clan was looked down upon by many. Ranohg discovered his pruprose three years after his father’s death, when he located the outer remains of an ancient city that had one time occupied the same spot as the Rift. Ranohg learned of the city by reading through ancient scrolls found across the lands, and inside these ruins was a large book, somehow unharmed by the nature of time. After months of effort, Ranohg managed to translate enough of the book to pinpoint the time of the birth of the child of prophecy, the savior of the tribes.

Due to the unnatural properties of the book, Ranohg often wonders if he didn’t discover a predetermined date so much as activated the prophecy somehow through the book itself. It is a thought he keeps to himself, however. Ranohg still carries the book with him, still attempting to translate the enormous text and learn of the secrets buried within it.

Ranohg believes that it is because of his ability to translate this book, as well as this books information on the prophecy, that caused the Chieftan of the Udapak to send him with the girl.

Clan: Udapak

Mentality: Ranohg is obsessed with the prophecy surrounding the girl and he has been charged with teaching and protecting. He studied the prophecy vigorously before the girl was born, and he was more than eager to take up the duty of protecting and teaching her. While he was as surprised by the birth of a female rather than a male as the rest of those in attendance, indeed in all of the lands, were, he has accepted it as destiny, and he strives to discover how it will play a part in future events.

Ranohg strives to keep a good relationship with his companions, though he is known for having a somewhat difficult personality. Ranohg can one day be social and outgoing, and the next be completely absorbed in his studying and irrationally angry with any disturbances. While Ranohg does not take his duty to raise the girl lightly, he is, perhaps, more attached to the prophecy surrounding the young girl than he is with the girl herself.

Unless we get more interest, I think I'm deleting the last two positions and integrating them into the existing characters (depending on who wants them). Or I'll just get rid of those characterists completely, as neither of them are essential. Let me know what you think.

I'll be greedy then and claim that, since my character has/had a respected position in the clan, he would be carrying an iron sword with him. I could even add a story for it, a war trophy or some such...hmmm, there's a thought. Now if only I had the time to actually write something. *sighs*

Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC Empty Re: Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC

Post by Guest Sat Jun 05, 2010 2:33 pm

I was thinking about this the other night and I came up with some ideas that might fill in the gap between the girls birth and the start of the story.

Considering that the prophecy revolved around the Udapak clan, they would have garnered a bit more power and status from that alone. They were going to give birth to the child of prophecy. That would have gotten them allies, at the very least. As well as enemies. But with a girl child born, rather than a boy, they would have been looked at as false. Most of the allies they had obtained during that time would likely have turned against them. The Udapak would probably be embroiled in almost constant warfare from that point on. They would have lost the one thing that set them apart from the other clans.

So, what do you think? It certainly gives us some material to work with, figthing in the background for the survival of the Udapak clan. If it even survived to this day. We can organize it into several different wars, based on what clans they are fighting, how long those particular wars take, and any particular battles of significance.

Edit: By the way, the only thing I have left for school is studying for my last final, which won't take long. If everyone is ready, I can post up the In Character thread so we can get started.

Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC Empty Re: Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC

Post by SpaceWheeler2.0 Sat Jun 05, 2010 3:22 pm

I think that sounds like a great idea, Silvone. It does make sense that many of Udapak's allies would feel that their devotion was betrayed in a sense. Making the clan non-existent isn't good, in my opinion. Perhaps the clan only consists of maybe a dozen of the core family lines anymore, being a vastly smaller group than it used to be? An important factor of the storyline would be the restoration of Clan Udapak, by proving that this girl is still as capable as the prophecy claimed.

Also, I just noticed something. What size are you viewing these "clans?" It occurred to me that I am thinking along the size of what might be called a Tribe or a Chiefdom in modern Anthropology... "Clans" in usual terms are simply extended families of a certain line, many clans making up a tribe. Of course, this is me over-thinking things, so feel free to tell me to shut up if need be! xD

As far as being ready for the IC, I don't think I'm there yet. I am devoting today to catching up on my character sheet. I have ideas, I just haven't had a very good streak of motivation this week to actually put the rest of it together. If everyone else is ready, then go ahead and put it up... I just need a little more work on my part, so I'll be one of the last to put in an intro post.

Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC Empty Re: Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC

Post by Guest Sat Jun 05, 2010 3:59 pm

I've been thinking about my character and a lot of her personality or at least her experience with people have been with the warriors who raised her, right?
So kind of my questions are these:
- Have she meet any other people? Have she played with, or even meet, children her own age at any stage? Or has she been hidden away from everyone?
- How was she raised? I'm guessing all warriors did it differently, all according to their personalities.
- Has she been tested in any of her skills? Like going to a minor battle or the like.
I think it would help me greatly to have answers to a few of these questions, also because they all have relationships from before. Maybe you can add another point to your character sheets, or at least brainstorm a little here and I'll write something up for mine. It would help to have it in writing somewhere.
I know most of you have written something about what he feels about the girl, but exactly what skills of his has he taught, or focused on teaching.
I'm sorry if my ramblings are just that, a little disjointed...

@Spacewheeler2.0: Clan size ranges depending on their power. Many of the small clans could only have a few extended families limited to a particular line. The larger clans would be composed of smaller clans that have allied over the years, essentially becoming a single clan under the banner of the dominant family. Those clans would then lose their previous identities becoming, in the case of the Udapak Clan, a member of the Udapak family. I think Blackrock's character sheet describes that process nicely, even though it is limited to a single person. I would imagine that could happen in the same way with a small clan.

@Miss Dagger: 1. Has she met any other people? Probably not. The Udapak chieftan led his people to think that the girl had been killed. So if she were to meet other people, it would have to be in the disguise of any other female, rather than the prophecied saviour. I doubt she would have played with any children her age. Being raised by warriors to become a warrior herself, that would have been...detrimental. So, basically, her true identity has been hidden, and when she is out and about she is disguised as any other mere female.
2. She would have been raised by each of the warriors based on their own personalities and skills, like you said. From the point of view of my own character, he would have raised her to be knowledgeable of the world around her. He would have taught her letters, and informed her of the details of the prophecy that shapes her life. Other than that, based on how I made my character, he wouldn't be too interested in actually raising her. As the cs says, he is more interested in the prophecy that surrounds the girl than the girl herself. I'll leave the other warriors' perceptions up to the rest to explain.
3. I'm sure her whole life has been a series of tests. I wouldn't doubt that they've had her fight any number of wild beasts or rogues or whatever. And I'm sure that, in her more recent years, she would have participated in a battle or two for the Udapak clan. I would also imagine that she would have been dressed as a male so that her appearance wouldn't be noticed.

I hope this helps you. If you need anything else, or something clarified, just ask!

Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC Empty Re: Exiled Saviour: The Udapak Child OOC

Ah yes that helps. I'm going to be updating my sheet soon, incorporating more. I usually read my own sheet before posting so it's easier for me if I have all the information in one place. So I'll probably add a space called maybe "Relationships with the warriors" or something like it, and then fill it in with how she feels about them. Since it isn't probable that she likes them all the same.
So it would really help if the others took the time to spell it out more clearly too.
Oh, and thanks!

My character would be a fairly strict mentor, I would say. Not cruel, but harsh and demanding. He would be teaching the Saviour matters of leadership and strategy. How to lead and inspire men, how to ensure their loyalty and obedience. And of course, how to actually command them in battle, from specific tactics all the way to global strategy (or what might pass for that in the current setting). Due to the nature of his teachings, he may overlap with Silvone's character. As he would teach her the history of some of the more important battles of his and her generation. Nothing overly grand or detailed though, as I said.

As for starting, I would say it's still a bit early. Give it another week or so. That way we can get more backstory fleshed out, as well as giving other people a chance to join. (from what I've noticed, joining an already running RP can be intimidating to some)

Thanks, Silvone. That's exactly along the lines I was thinking. So hopefully we'll get some more input as to whether we'll be making Udapak still a large clan or small and struggling... or even, as you suggested, maybe others will think it best if Udapak is practically vanishing at this point.

Gydraug, as I mentioned in my character sheet, views the girl more as a daughter than a student. He would be protective, maybe a hindrance when it came to letting her experience battles at her age. There might be some conflict there between both the other warriors and the girl herself because of this.

Also, I think that the best way to have involved Xzadri in recent wars/battles is as more of a "squire" type assistant. She (disguised as a boy, obviously) wouldn't be necessarily doing the direct fighting but rather supplying and aiding her instructors in their battles. That was just a thought I had, as squires (I know that's more of a medieval-era role compared to what we're writing at) were usually training with the Knights that they followed to battle.

Oh yeah, I forgot to actually comment on the Udapak. I think that having the clan be in decline is a nice addition. Maybe most of their allies abandoned them and they were forced into a series of brutal wars, that sounds right, aye. But for them to be completely destroyed, I dunno...In these types of plots, restoring the nation/country/whatever is usually a very symbolic moment. Then again, if we want everything to be a bit more dark, we can have the clan wiped out, this would add the motive of revenge.

I'm fine with both, either way.

Well, with the clan completely wiped out, they would lose their "base," and would be forced to survive on their own. They've been doing that the whole time, but they've always had the Udapak to fall back on, at least as far as those who knew of them. Without the Udapak, they would have nothing. It would certainly make things harder on them. So I say have them diminished, but not defeated.

Defeated is good, gone is bad. At least to me. The revealing of the Saviour has to start somewhere, and where better than with Udapak and getting them back to glory or so? Or maybe not glory, but away from being broken.
Oh and thanks for all the answers to far, I'll hopefully have time tomorrow or early next week to compile and finish up my sheet a little more.
