Salutations!

My name is Attie, and I am a student at University currently. I am unemployed otherwise, living off of student loans. I therefor spend most of my time playing online forum roleplays and sewing.

I have been roleplaying for about a decade now, and would like to believe that I am above average. In college, I strive to be a kindergarten teacher, minoring in English or maybe something in writing. I plan on writing more stories, as I've already published one book just recently. It's just the beginning of a very big dream of mine.

I hope it's lively here. Regardless, if it isn't, but the stories are great, I see no problem. ;]

Welcome to FoG, Attie.

This is a good place to practice your writing skills in a fun and relaxing manner.

I think it's really cool that you enjoy sewing. I have a friend who loves to do it. She usually just turns something already made into something better, but she's recently begun trying to work with patterns. What sort of style do you have?

I hope you enjoy your stay.

Actually, I am into attending conventions and the like, so I like altering patterns so that I can make cosplay outfits. ;]

As far as dress and wear for casual times? I am working on it, hah!

Thank you for the welcome. I appreciate it!

Here's a question: I thought I put up an avatar, but it seems I didn't. How do I get a little picture to show up on the right with my name like you have?

Post by Kathryn Lacey Wed Feb 17, 2010 12:18 am

Ah. It really depends with my friend. Laura recently gave me a cute skirt that she made from pillow cases, and a neck pillow in the shape of an oversized cat-nip mouse that she made from a dress.

She's currently working on a dress made from a pattern for the Renaissance Fairs that we're going to attend in May and in September.

I wish I could sew. It would make my Halloweens ((my favorite holiday)) a lot more fun because I could always do exactly what I want. For instance, I was Alice ((from Alice in Wonderland)) in 2008, and last year I was an elf lady ((if you can't tell from my set-up)). My grandma sewed my Alice costume, but I had to buy the elf costume because it was beyond my grandmother's abilities. If I could sew, I would save a lot of money. heheh

Click on the 'Profile' button on the top navigation bar. Once there, click on the 'Avatar' tab. It will give you the option of uploading an image from your computer or from a url.

From one FoG newbie to another, hello and welcome! Now, here, you better take this...

Salutations and Best Wishes Lantern
The fog can get pretty tricky at times. Just follow the footsteps set out before you and you'll do just fine! It's a good group of ghosts around here. Well, so far from what I've encountered.

Safe travels,

Hold the phone, you're the model in your avatar and your signature?

You are gorgeous! (and your friend sounds very talented, and resourceful!)

As for the lantern I've just received, thank you! But I've found that light only makes fog brighter and more blinding, rather than clear. But the thought is appreciated ;]

I would love to publish my books! I was told that I have to write them first, however. And that seems to be causing problems.

Wecome to FOG, Attie! I'm sure you will enjoy your time here. There isn't one of us that doesn't enjoy a good story.

Well, gee! Thanks, you guys. ;] I feel very welcome. What a nice crowd 'round here!

Yes, I did publish my first book; however, due to severe social anxiety, I only published very few of them as a trial run to see who's interested and who's not. If you live in North Texas, you may have come across it. ;]

(No, I will not tell you the title, though! Or my pen name!) I get paranoid too much about people hating my writing - Yet, here I am on forums, wanting to story tell so badly.

Odd. That's a good way to describe me! And a little ray of sunshine 8]

Kalon - I was just given a link by my friend to your Avatar / Sig making? I had asked him why everyone's avatars look so awesome, and how they are humanoids! He sent me there, and I have to SAY! You said you thought being published was nice? I couldn't DREAM of making things like this!

May I ask you to make me one some time?

Salutations and Best Wishes Empty Re: Salutations and Best Wishes

Post by Kathryn Lacey Wed Feb 17, 2010 9:06 pm

Attie, yes. The female in my set-up is indeed myself. My friend ((the seamstress)) took the signature picture, I took the avatar picture, and Ryona Noel kindly created the set from those.

Thank you. ^^_^^ I don't really hear that all that often. I always feel that I'm just average looking... I guess it's a little different in real life because I have horrible skin issues ((scars, stretch marks, acne, eczema)), but PaintShopPro has enabled me to get rid of those and leave the photograph looking decent.

I still see flaws in them all the time... I guess that's the way everyone is... I'm only an amateur when it comes to photography, but I like my photographs to look their best - or at least as good as I am able to make them.

I was actually interested in what you had written, but I didn't want to ask and give off a stalker vibe. XD

In which genre is your book written?

You are such a stalker, gosh!

Kidding, of course. It is in the Sci-fi to Traditional Fantasy genre.

(Basic Beginning: Earth in 3024 is in World War X, and this time, the mother land isn't going to survive as long as the humans will if ANYONE 'wins'. So, in a desperate hunt for another planet worth living on, a space craft of the likes and is similar to that of Firefly (Series) or Serenity (Movie from Series) is sent and caught in a black hole, sending it to an entirely different universe, crash landing on a new, but magical planet (which is where the Traditional Fantasy comes in to play).

I thought the whole beginning to the book up when I heard a song called "Major Tom" by Shiny Toy Guns (Originally by Bowie) off a car commercial, and that is when I began to write it.

The end!

I actually am blessed with a family who knows people. ;]

-- On another note, but certainly not to derail you from the topic, before I bother writing in the Written Work, that is a -me- writing only thing, yes? As in, I can go up there and post a story on a thread and continue by commenting on my own thread?

I should stop being lazy and lost and just go look through everything.

I think that's how it works. I don't really know. I've sort of been too busy to really do anything. I know that if you post it in the Critiques sub forum, others can comment on it to critique it. If you don't want people to write in your thread, I think you can say that in the first post or something. Sorry, I'm not very helpful with that area. =3

If you'd like to create a thread for your own work that won't receive comments, simply request at the beginning of the first post that people not comment. While the critiques section is specifically for asking and writing critiques, people might also feel inclined to make commentary on what you've written if you leave the option open, even if it's only to say how much they enjoyed reading it.

So, it's really up to you. Do you want a thread where you can submit stories and receive commentary, or do you want a thread where you can link the chapters of your story together, one after another, without interruption from other users?

If you decide on the latter, you can always later create a Critiques thread asking for member commentary on what you've written.

With that out of the way...

Salutations and Best Wishes WelcomeToFOG

On behalf of the Administration (namely our dear FOG Mother and Queen, Fate Foretold), as well as the other members of staff who don't frequent the introductions forum, I welcome you to Footsteps of Ghosts!

Using an image seems kind of cliché when you're the third person in a single introduction thread to do it. [Sighs forlornly.] Alas, I wouldn't feel like I'm doing a good job of keeping Fate's seat warm if I didn't put forth that much effort!

It's good to know that you've already had a novel published. In the end, the act of getting the first one published is possibly the biggest obstacle for an aspiring novelist. After all, once you know that you can get published, you're inspired to write more amazing stories in the hopes that you can dazzle an even larger audience, right? I'm sure you'll find that the users here at FOG are more than willing to support you in that endeavor by roleplaying with you, critiquing your work, giving some general commentary, or even just talking over references and the like.

Is crochet considered sewing? I guess that would be knitting, actually. I have a friend who does that, but despite her overly conceited personality, she's can only make things like blankets and scarves. Still, the fact that you cosplay is the most exciting part! I am intensely interested in seeing the types of outfits you've made, or even the ones you've worn to conventions.

In the end, I'm a complete nerd. Despite liking anime more than your average child (made all the more troublesome by the fact that I'm in my 20s), I apparently don't qualify to be an otaku without owning paraphernalia depicting strangely dressed girls in mini-skirts and jump suits. Alas, the way of the world is beyond my comprehension.

Point being: I don't know if you're interested in anime, but if you are, there's a lot of potential for conversation between us. In making that statement, I have created the foundation for the following shameless plug.

If you're interested in chatting with other users in real-time, feel free to drop by the chat room, the link to which can be located at the top of the forums! While it isn't usually packed, it has been a lot more lively lately thanks to a bit of campaigning. It's my goal to help bring the community together by giving everyone a way to get to know each other in a more active social environment. The chat room gives users a place to chat about this and that with no set topic, as well as allowing them an instant means of communication for discussing roleplay ideas. So, drop by if you get bored!

Again, welcome to the FOG. I hope you find what you're looking for and enjoy your stay!

-coughs- Is that yet another shameless plug I see Weiss?

First of all let me congratulate you! It's absolutely awesome that you managed to get one of your books published - what a great achievement!

Secondly, welcome to FoG Attie! We're a pretty cool and zany bunch here, so I'm sure you'll fit right in! I look forward to seeing more of your work and I hope that you find your own little niche here with ease.

Oh and about the chat Weiss mentioned... I will admit that it is quite fun when you've got a few people in there. It's a great way to get to know fellow Foggers that bit quicker so if you ever wanted to chat don't hesitate to pop in!
