I just want everyone to have a heads up, I will be making a Breale survivor and will be role playing with our newest member, Lady Despair! She is making a worldspace on the other continent but will end up in Sretin with me. So, Sretin will be taken care of!

I should also mention that our beginning posts are going to be considered Later That Day if you are posting the same day as the council. If you are posting of something in the past then date it as A Few Days/Weeks/Etc Earlier. When you get to the morning after the council, then it is Day 1. If you do not want to role play of your travels to your destination, use the information on scale and travel time provided in the information thread to guesstimate how much time would pass for you to reach your destination and start on Day X, X being the amount of days you calculated. If it ends up being more than a month of travel time, then contact me but we will probably assume your chapter will be two months long.

@ Everyone: I have updated the Information thread; the Notices section now marks our completion of the first stage of Emoria, the Council. Congrats to everyone who made it this far! And welcome to those who joined late in the game, Spectre and Lady_Despair. I can't wait until you two are really into it (sorry I take so long to post, Spectre...)

I've also updated the In Character links, so that Fermata is there and it shows that the prologue is now closed. I will continue to update that section as more chapter threads are created.

@ Ryona and Hello Danger: I have posted the beginning of the Fermata chapter. I left it open for you to do and say whatever you feel like Hello Danger. I'll just follow your lead. I suppose, after our conversation, that we should go meet with Ryona's character at the inn (though I don't know if we will look for her intentionally or not, or if we will just run into her).

I'd love to post and the like, but...I'm afraid my hands are tied until the Evil Council concludes, and until I get some general time ideas for when folks might come kicking into Korun Otak.

*drums fingers on desk* I might be inactive till chapter 2, from the look of things.

There is always options to make other characters to participate in other RP's while you wait, if you are interested to get moving. Lady and I in Sretin would not have a problem having other people join.

Might I suggest making it specifically for Kvatch? That way the three portions of the southern continent can be split into three separate threads so that the stories don't get all muddled?

Of course, you're probably already doing that, but...better safe than sorry, right? Right?

Actually, all I wanted to know is this: Are the forces of good going to win or will they falter beneath the darkness?

I have been under the impression that would depend on the events of the RP.

That depending on what happens the fate of emoria will be decided. If we are realistic we allow that either side could win.

Emoria: OOC - Page 31 Empty Re: Emoria: OOC

Post by Dax Sun Aug 29, 2010 5:53 pm

Yah I was thinking about that but then I realised: that's impossible.

Say in a RP we say "Alright, these guys are going to fight those guys... who wins?"

Answer is: No one knows.

I was thinking that if we have a final objective, we can negotiate battles and lose/win some all while knowing who wins the war. This would seriously ease up tensions because would it matter if X person lost this battle or won that one if he knows he is going to lose/win the war?

This is coming from the perspective that determinating battles and 'going with the flow' is very hard considering the near impossibility of detereminating who wins battles by a neural standpoint.

The only way I see getting out of this pickle is either deciding who wins beforehand to make everyones life easier or add to the RP stats of a country so that we can realistically determine battles and 'go with the flow and let things happen.' Or else its a nightmare and very, very argument prone. I would like to avoid that. Smile

Due to requests of a second worldspace and species, I had assumed that Morgarath will at some point be defeated, since Raptorman can't have his second species until his first is destroyed, as per our agreement. However that is a long way away. As for smaller battles, I leave that up to those who are collaborating to make a decision.

Emoria: OOC - Page 31 Empty Re: Emoria: OOC

Post by Guest Mon Aug 30, 2010 2:57 am

I think it might be wise to follow Dax's suggestion, since we all seem to be of different minds on the issue. We should come up with stats and such of each country, and then use those to determine the outcome of any particular battles. Again, larger numbers does not always mean victory; there are dozens of variables that must be taken into account. And then, everyone is going to try and make their country unbeatable because, lets face it everyone, who doesn't? Even tiny little North Korea wants to dominate the world.

So, if we decide to do this, we will need to put in some sort of system, like a points system or something. Everyone has a set amount of points with certain categories pertaining to military and population and other factors that a nation relies upon. Every character can put however many points they wish into any of those categories. And, also, perhaps each nation can have its own unique category (or two) that will give them an edge over another. Otherwise it would be too easy for multiple nations to have the same stats, which would leave us in the same position.

Anyway, that is just an idea. Take it as you will

I was also under the impression that the good guys were going to win, however it would be interesting if they didn't. Perhaps we can make use of the other continent by having the survivors of this one flee there. Then maybe they can raise a fresh army to defeat Morgorath or perhaps just leave him be. It isn't decided yet, and probably shouldn't be. Though we do need to concentrate on this issue, now that we've reached the main body of the role-play.

I'm going for the good guys to win, of course, but it'd be neat to make things a little more precarious for everyone. xD Stats sound fun. I could help come up with a system, if you'd like. I'm sure we all have cool ideas and stats to add. ^^

My brain's going now; I'd better type this all out.

Speed -- some people do more walking, some do more horses, some are fast runners or have unusual mounts, and of course, some fly.
Intelligence -- let's face it: some races and classes are just smarter, wiser, or more imaginative than others.
Dexterity -- natural agility, cultural averages for physical training, that sort of thing.
Will -- mental fortitude which can be strengthened or weakened by different things in different situations for different races and classes. Religion, for example, can increase or decrease one's will depending on the religion and the circumstances.
Melee -- a combination of physical strength, combat proficiency, weapon effectiveness, and luck.
Ranged -- arrows, guns, magic.
Special -- unique abilities, such as the Valinyx miracle songs.
Luck -- high or low, decided by GM coin toss at the start of each chapter. Players should not know what their luck is.
Destiny -- determined by something... wordcount? postcount? ...affects influence during OOC discussions.

I'll probably think of more later. I usually get ideas after seeing other people's input on things. xD

I have a few stuff to say regarding that, but I can't at the moment. See, my PC's graphics card fucked up the other day and I'm stuck on this tiny netbook. Thing is, the keyboard is annoying me to no end. I often press two keys instead of one (damn fingers...), so I really can't type much. Unless it's something that can't wait. By the end of the week, I'll either have sorted out the problem or, at least, dug out an old warhorse from somewhere.

So yeah.....*goes to curse small keys*

Having stats for nations could be interesting, but that won't be needed unless we have a large-scale war break out.

Emoria: OOC - Page 31 Empty Re: Emoria: OOC

Post by Shadow Moonseye Mon Aug 30, 2010 4:40 pm

Okay, back with my opinion. Took a little longer to get it all thought out than I had figured it would. Plus I got distracted. >.>

Anywho, back to the topic at hand. Personally, I'd like for Morgarath to be destroyed. That doesn't mean that it should be a great 'good triumphing over evil!" moment. I very much doubt his death will end the "war." In-fact, it'd probably do the opposite; with the big threat gone, nations would turn their eyes to each other, the war could very well escalate. Which I think would be super awesome and fun.

Far as giving the individual nations stats, I don't know how well that would work. I almost see it as causing more arguments as people try to one-up each other, rather than providing a fair means to determine who is stronger. I think Ryona's idea of just letting the participating nations work things out between themselves would work best. And if a solution can't be reached, then perhaps Ryona or Silvone could do a dice roll or coin toss to determine the out come.

Hm. I think that's everything for now. If I think of anything else, I'll come back and say it.

EDIT: Just thought of something to add. I'd like to say I don't want to see either side win. Both sides take heavy losses and lose their great "leaders". Then leave the actual mortal beings to try and work things out among themselves.

Post by Gadreille Mon Aug 30, 2010 6:39 pm

I agree with you, ShadowMoonseye, and to repeat what raptorman said, I would not like to make any major decisions so that the role play may go along its natural course. Morgarath is going to kick our butts before he is destroyed, if ever he is. Like you say, that will not be the end of this role play, for Raptorman has another character lined up should Morgarath be destroyed, and we will find some other problem to face.

If two players are wanting to battle and both want to win, perhaps the stats would be a good way to make the decision. We are just going to have to be grown ups when it comes to fighting battles, and making decisions.

this seems like a worry now or worry later topic, and frankly I'd rather discuss it when the time comes that we need to. If you have a plot device that you are wary of using because of battles you would like to fight, you should take it up with whomever's worldspace it is.

You guys are welcome to keep talking about it, but please just PM me if there is anything unresolved. I'm likely not going to say much more on the issue here.
