It looks like we’ve got most of the profiles done, hehe. I have to add them to the first post still. -has been jump from one thing to another all day-

Ok, answers to your questions, Lara:

1) Yes, they are considered descendants since all of the original “Gods” are long gone. Like the Collector, I never gave them pulls since they have their powers already and I could never think of anything for them.
2) Age range, I don’t really have one. It seems that everyone falls in between 18 and 25 though, so we’ll keep it at that.
3) Your character can be from wherever you’d like. What I usually do is have the group meet up at some area (Philly’s Independence Hall, some random carnival somewhere, Paris, etc.). I haven’t figured out where to have us start yet, I was going to ask you all what you thought. But the first post generally consists of them waking up or on their way to the location that we pick thanks to the Collector’s persuasion. They’ll have a sudden urge to go to wherever we decide upon. But say someone’s in the US and we wanted them to start in Ireland, that person would have felt this persuasion for a few days, or even weeks.

I hope that answers your questions! I, surprisingly, don’t have this role-play down to a science yet, hehe.

I'm really sorry I made everyone wait!

-----

Descendant: The Light-Hearted
Name: Jordan Erinae
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Weapons: Jordan has never had the need, nor the desire to carry a weapon around with her. After all, why would anyone bother to mug her when all they had to do was ask politely?

Personality:

When Jordan was younger, she was quite the pushover. All someone had to do was spin a little tale about how they forgot something, or that they didn't have enough money with them, and she'd help them out. These days she's not quite as naive, but it's still rare for her to refuse to help someone in need. She's made a great many friends across the globe due to her caring heart, but for the same reason she's made a few enemies.

As she grew older, Jordan found that she began to get extremely edgy in crowds. True to the word itself, it felt far too crowded, and the larger the crowd (not to mention the longer she was there), the larger the headache by the time she got out of it. Because of this, she started to avoid groups of people as often as possible, forsaking her dislike of them only to help out at the soup kitchens, or other similar events, on the occasional basis.

In addition to her dislike of crowds, Jordan also found herself avoiding people who were known to be in mourning, as well as places such as funeral homes, due to the fact that both made her feel extremely uncomfortable and upset whether or not she knew the person who had died.

Generally, however, Jordan tends to be a very happy and optimistic person. She's always been this way, and it's rare for her to be seen depressed or upset.

Physical Description:

Jordan stands around 5'5" and weighs in fairly average for her age. Her muscules have toned over the course of her travels, but she still manages to give off the appearance of a simple young woman. Her hair is such a dark shade of brown that it appears almost black unless exposed to sunlight, and comes down to around her shoulders in straight sections that taper off into spikey tips. Her bangs have grown out some, leaving her with all but the center of her forehead covered, and the longer ones line the sides of her face. To complement her paler skin tone, her eyes are a warmer shade of grey.

Her clothing is comfortably fit for her travels, tending to consist of light colored shirts and casual pants. The color has never really mattered to her, providing that it's easy on the eyes in terms of matching, but many of her outfits have combined the colors white and blue.

Background:

Jordan grew up surrounded by people who were the type to give back to others in some way. Her mother was in charge of the local soup kitchen -- and had been the one to organize it in the first place, for that matter. Up through her teenaged years, Jordan was one of the smiling faces behind the counter alongside her mother, though her involvement decreased as her aversion to crowds grew stronger. Her father, on the other hand, was a low-end doctor whose main objective was to help those who couldn't normally afford the treatment. Jordan didn't often spend time in his office, but the town she grew up in was small enough that she heard many tales of his good deeds.

She took after her parents in the sense that she helped others more than she helped herself, and it wasn't until her mid-teenaged years that she discovered that helping everyone she met wasn't necessarily the best thing to do. The event that sparked this realization was when her best friend at the time came to her, asking for a bit of money. Along with the request came the story that he had a loan that he needed to pay off, and that he would be 'getting the money soon, but needed it right away so he didn't get into trouble'. Naturally Jordan gave him the money without a second thought. Less than a week later, she discovered that her friend had instead used the money to buy drugs, and that he had no intention of paying her back.

She couldn't find it in herself to confront him immediately, but when he came to her a second time, she had tentatively asked about the loan. Despite the fact that he spun an even larger lie surrounding it, she still gave him the money he was looking for, wanting desperately to give him the benefit of the doubt. She was sorely disappointed when she found him in the same predicament a few days later.

That was when she stopped blindly giving money and support out to those around her. She still volunteered her time at the soup kitchen and brought canned goods down to the church's food pantry once or twice a month. For a while, she felt like that was enough, but after a time she found herself growing restless, as if she wasn't doing enough with her life. She tried to ignore the feeling, and even succeeded for a while, but eventually she found herself making the decision to leave her small town and travel.

She brought as little as possible with her, feeling almost selfish at the thought of bringing along the comforts of home. What money she managed to earn went towards getting her to the next destination; all that remained was given to church poor boxes, or other similar places, in attempt to feel as if she wasn't traveling purely for self-centered reasons. For a time, she was happy, relieved of the pressure that had come to burden her at home, but as her time out in the world grew longer, the restless feeling returned.

Post by LunarScorpio Thu Aug 06, 2009 3:06 pm

I'm having a really bad day. So, just to let you guys know, I won't be starting the role-play today. I'm having more car issues (GAH!) so I'm trying to solve all of that and I'm supposed to be going out with my friends. So, if everything gets better, or I at least feel better, I'll probably start the RP tomorrow.

I just wanted to keep you guys updated.

The Decendants OOC - Page 2 Empty Re: The Decendants OOC

Post by Kestrel Mon Aug 10, 2009 8:00 pm

Saw there's one more spot in the title, so I hope it is alright if I'll apply for it.

Descendant: The alchemist
Name: Jean-Baptiste du Périphéries
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Weapons: An old fashioned pistol Jean calls ‘Ouverture’. It works surprisingly well due to certain ‘modifications’ which essentially makes it as useful as a modern handgun, but with different looks (and loading, buying cartridges in a store is impossible, he will have to create them himself). And secondly a ball of compressed metal, which, combined with his alchemy abilities can be used as a melee weapon of medium size and decent durability. The smaller the weapon is, the sturdier it will be.

Personality: You know those kinds of people? The very passionate, eccentric kind of person, that talks about his interests as if they were his first-born children? The kind that raises his questions all the time and seems to put a lot of heart and trust in every word that leaves his mouth and every motion he makes? The kind who cannot understand why someone disagrees with him? That’s the kind of person Jean is. Sometimes it is hard to believe he’s only twenty-five.

There are three large passions Jean has. One: Music. To him, going to an opera is like going to a temporary Heaven. It is when his greatest passion truly comes alive. He will laugh, he will cry, he will be even more alive than usual. Whoever prefers anything above the sweet sounds of what the classic scene has to offer, has to be reverted immediately, he’s like a fanatic Jehovah’s witness. A CD is not enough, God forbid an mp3, no. You will be dragged to the theatre the very instant.

On the second place, Jean is a technologist at heart. He is incredibly fascinated by old-fashioned machinery and when you bring him to the right museum, it will be like bringing a child to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate factory. Although he is much less pushy with this one as he is with music. Jean’s house is full of mechanics that have been deconstructed and reconstructed. Or sometimes they are too deconstructed to be reconstructed. He knows all kinds of little titbits about machinery.

Thirdly, there’s hunting. And guns. Basically, they’re on the same page and never to be confused as two separate interests. Although he can get carried away, Jean’s intention would never be to disrupt any balance in the wildlife. And that is not because they’d take away his license if he did.

Unfortunately these great passions lead to a complete disinterest for many common things. The eccentric Frenchman may be a loud talker, but his social and fatherly skills leave to be desired. And he has issues focusing his mind on common household tasks as well. His home is a complete mess, for one. And would not win any awards for hygiene. Jean is also a very careful… No, he is a very suspicious person. Jean has a sort of obsession with his own safety and that of Chanson. He’s not just caring, he is paranoid. Needless to say Jean is would absolutely vote against complete gun control.

Physical Description: First thing to note about Jean is that he has a permanent 9 ‘o clock shadow and grows a dark red unruly coupe he keeps out of his face by wrapping it into a ponytail. His hair engulfs his face like a lion’s manes, but it looks much less majestic on Jean than on the king of animals. He could easily be considered more attractive by most standards if he’d make an appointment with a razor and scissors. His face has soft, yet manly contours and simply beams his French heritage. Well, it would anyway if he’d cut that jungle off.

He is not very tall however, as his mere 5’6 tends to make him one of the smaller people in the crowd. His build is athletic, which somewhat compromises for his length, albeit mostly by the illusion of looking taller on pictures.

A fur coat and small rectangular glasses are part of Jean’s daily accessories. He loves the coat and cannot read without the glasses, but he keeps them on at all times anyway. The rest on him… tends to differ a lot. Although, most of his clothes do look worn and are no less than occasionally stitched.

Background: Although born in Paris, Jean has lived a significant part of his life in the United States. Mainly because he spent a year of his education over there. When you major chemistry, see, they let you go to all different kinds of countries if you sign up for it. And Jean simply never returned to France. But why did a man from Paris leave his beloved land and city for the faraway America? Jean had never been a very open person, because in Paris, many people, especially of older generations are still rather stiff when it comes to baring their souls. He grew up in an environment that considered such the norm, and so did he. But you see, when you move out and go to this crazy, half-witted America and you discover that everyone simply puts whatever personal thoughts they have on MySpace, where half the people thinks that France is a ‘state’ of Europe and is so sure of their own case they just spit it in your face… Why the hell would a guy like Jean want to stay?

Well you can’t really take a kid that only knows American English to a country where everyone refuses to speak any other language than his or her own and expect it to have a happy childhood. No, Jean was glued to the United States until Chanson would be old enough to find a place and take care of her own. That, or teach her to speak French. Which is a task that has been proven to be impossible for Jean.

Chanson is a girl that Jean found on the street when she was five. Or at least that is what Jean likes to believe. He had no idea what had happened to her before, but when she begged Jean for food, he took her with him for a meal and a shower and basically, she never left. Despite of Jean’s efforts, don’t get the wrong idea. But till this very day the girl refuses to give her real name and swears she suffers from amnesia. Chanson even worked against every attempt to get her a pair of foster parents. She instantly distrusts everyone scheming to take her away.

So nowadays Jean is stuck. Even with his perfect English, he will still remain the legal alien in New York. But his life is pretty solid, with a good job as a nutty professor at a university waiting for him in advance and in the meantime making a fair sum of money as a lab-assistant, his incomes are solid and his future looks certain. Chanson just enrolled high school and life seems to be quite normal, due to circumstances that is.

I'll see about reading and writing up a post of my own when I get the chance, but as I mentioned in the Away section, I've got band camp all this week... And it's more tiring than I remember it being. >.< I've also got very little time off, and when I actually get back to my room, I'm exhausted beyond being able to comprehend and write up a post. I'll definitely take a look asap, though.
