A Random Question...
But one I haven't asked anyone in a while. I used to ask it to everyone I met, so I figured I'd throw it out there to the group and let it float or fail on it's own:
What's the most beautiful thing you've ever heard?
It could be a piece of music, a sound, a phrase, etc. Anything.
That's it.

The dead silence from the road out front, coupled with he different stars and constellations in the sky and snow on the ground all around me. It really put things into perspective; I only regret I couldn't have stayed outside longer.

Re: A Random Question...
It would have to be the sound of my husband's heart beat as we lay in bed at night. The gentle way he breathes in and out and steady rhythm produced in the process. To me it's the most beautiful thing in the world.
Re: A Random Question...
The most beautiful sound I think I have ever heard, or recall hearing, is the sound of a morning dove. I phrase that as "as I recall hearing" because I do not believe I've heard a morning dove's call since I was very young. It saddens me to think that perhaps they have all migrated from the wilderness-turning-industrial-park to greener pastures.
Although I cannot say I blame them if they did. Regardless, I miss their lovely sound.

What is the most beautiful thing you've ever heard, Misery?
These are such sweet answers.
This is not something I've ever been asked before, so you really got me thinking, Misery. ^^ I really cannot even think of anything. There are sounds that I think are pretty, but I can't decide which is the most beautiful. (This song by Moby though definitely came to mind.) I think that the most beautiful sound would be something in nature, be it the waves along the ocean (we've went to a few different beaches out in California), the songs of birds, or even just the insects on a warm summer's night. I don't think that I could really decide on one. I like a mixture. Music though definitely pulls on my emotions more so than many other sounds, and just listening to a song can bring back both good and bad memories. So, a certain pretty song may really be the most beautiful sound to me.

I've been thinking about this for a while, and I'm sort of in the same boat as Fate. It's really difficult for me to decide what beautiful sound I've heard is the most beautiful.
However, one of the things that comes to mind is the sound of the Chamber Choir from my high school. The first year I heard them, I got goosebumps all over my arms and legs, and it was soooo gorgeous. It was really moving. They chose a song that really resonated, and it was just... amazing... the other years I heard them, the songs weren't nearly as moving as the first I heard, so I wasn't so affected. However, that first song I heard them sing definitely qualifies for this. I wish I could recall what that song was...

This thread makes me miss my old voice, before it broke. I still have people who knew me when I was little come up to me and tell me how they cried the first time they heard me sang. :/ *sads*

Oh. Well, no. I'm not. I'm sad that it was a lie from her to you. The past women you've dated haven't exactly been the best.

On the contrary, the truth can be such a wonderful thing to hear, too.
I suppose in this context, though, it isn't.

It would have been beautiful if it was the truth, too. At the time I wanted it to be more than anything...
Oh well.

Re: A Random Question...
I read this thread, and it took me a while to think of a particular sound that struck me as beautiful. It was certainly a difficult question.
I'm a bit Thanatophobic, which is also ironic considering I'm fascinated by death. However, I do have a crippling fear of myself actually perishing and nothing happening after I die, that is to say I fear ceasing to exist.
So, the most beautiful sound in the world to me, would have be every time someone vocalizes their opinion on life after death. The most beautiful sound in the world to me will continue to change, until I pick an answer and a person that's my favorite.

Inerio - I think that's really cool.
Aww, Misery. That's so sad. Maybe, at the time, she didn't realize it was a lie? That's really beautiful and sad. But that has now led you to meeting Kathryn. :]

The most beautiful thing I've ever heard is the sound of my sons laughter. Nothing is more beautiful to me. I also love the sound of his breathing when he falls asleep on me while I rock him to sleep.

Yeah!
Seriously, I would marry any (any, as in any kind of looking, or even Inerio ) girl that could sing like that.

Re: A Random Question...
I <3 Anaris' answer.
Mine would be the waves of the ocean early in the morning, crashing against the shore. But the reason I love that sound is because it is interlocked with memories of the beach. I use to go out by myself, early before the sun would rise on our vacations, and walk the beach and listen to the waves, and smell the sea, and it was wonderful. It's the most peaceful thing to experience, and it makes you feel almost cleansed when you're standing before the ocean and letting your worries wash away with the sands...
Man am I a sap or what? XD
