Re: Sephiris: The Price of Peace - OOC
I'm feeling a bit under the weather, you guys. Plus it's my mom's birthday. I am however still in the middle of making the post. I keep fighting for opportunities to work on it, but they've been annoyingly few and far between. *stops posting and goes to write*
Re: Sephiris: The Price of Peace - OOC
Aw. Hope you feel better soon.
I am also struggling to find some free time to write up a post for Mad Kate. But it WILL get done, god damn it!

Re: Sephiris: The Price of Peace - OOC
Here is the very rough draft, Kalon, for the treatise on the moons. As of now, it is just an outline for the information to put into the treatise. But it needs more of an elvish tone still, as well as the elvish words inserted into some of it (or all of it if you want a complete elvish translation to accompany it), and the moons need to be named throughout, perhaps differently for every culture, perhaps not. And please let me know if I left anything of importance out.
Also, feel free to edit it and add or take away whatever you think is necessary.
Edit: Wow...that is shorter than I thought. Yes...add more...

- Spoiler:
- The two moons of TĂșlaman have had an important impact on the developing societies of men, elves, and dragons throughout the many long years of history. While some of the tribal groups that roam the elven lands still attribute religious significance to the two moons, most advanced civilizations attach only ceremonial or cultural importance to their presence. The most important impact they have had on the inhabitants of TĂșlaman has been their cycles and tidal influences.
Elven sciences of proven that the cycles of the moon directly affect the tides of the oceans, as well as wind tides when the moons share the same hemisphere. When the moons pass over head, the tides rise as if the moons themselves were pulling at the great waters surrounding Telmar. When the moons are absent from the sky, the tides are lower. When both moons share the same sky the tides are at their highest, reinforcing the theory of their direct influence. What is less understood is their effect on the winds. When both moons are present in the same sky wind storms increase greatly.
The land itself offers the many inhabitants of Telmar a form of natural protection: high cliff walls form the coastal edge of most of the lands, or steeply sloping ranges that effectively hint at a high tide area. We elves have always had an understanding of these cycles, and our habitations, even the primitive remains of our ancestors, have always been in an area just above the reach of the highest tides. Of course, any evidence to the contrary would undoubtedly have been washed away.
Many of the coastal and high elevation forests have developed thicker roots, and seasonally thicker branches and leaves, to protect themselves from the harsh winds during the time that the moons share the same sky. This leads to rapidly changing forests from season to season. During the period that the moons share the same sky, the forests become thicker and stronger to protect themselves from the winds. They are harder to traverse, and harbor a wider range of creatures. But as the farther moon slips down beyond the horizon, the forests begin to thin, and the interior flora and fauna change as well.
Every species has assigned a different important to the moons, either culturally or religiously. The most ceremonious society, in regards to the moons, is the humans. Most of their society revolves around religious or cultural ceremonies, and it has been that way for many centuries. The human ceremonies that concern the moons mostly deal with cycles of time and events of importance attributed to the alignment of the moons.
The dragons see the moons simply for their beauty, and they tend to compare their caste-based society with the moons themselves. The more prominent and brighter moon, whose cycles are seen more often, is by far the greater moon and reflects the upper standings of their society. As a direct result, the smaller and dimmer moon is favored by the lower castes of the dragon society. However, they openly worship the greater moon for the same reason that they strive to remain in the favor of those dragons of higher status: a chance to be recognized and called upon to serve.
We elves, however, have recognized the natural beauty of both moons and their place in nature. We do not worship or celebrate the moons but for their unending service to the preservation of our way of life. There are those of us, of course, who attach unnecessary and absolutely unreasonable attributes to the moons, but they are simply elves who have lost their attunement with nature and have been affected by the mind-boggling fantasies of the human culture.

Re: Sephiris: The Price of Peace - OOC
It's good, Silvone, but I'd like it better if it was more consistent in regard to point of view. It should either be pure information, or all should be worded according to the elves' perspective. As it is now, it seems sort of half and half to me.
Couple minor errors here and there, as well, but I know it's still a work in progress, so no need to worry.
All the information seems good, except I'm not so sure about the extra winds. The thing with the forests makes it seem like the winds get really strong. I'm not sure if it would go to that extent.

Re: Sephiris: The Price of Peace - OOC
No...it probably wouldn't. I was kind of distracted when I was writing it, so my mind was going off in places it probably shouldn't have. And I noticed the same POV thing, I just didn't feel like editing it last night. If you want to have a go at it, feel free. Otherwise I will rewrite it again.

Re: Sephiris: The Price of Peace - OOC
I would, but I'm still working on The Post. (It's getting pretty long.)
Edit:
Stayed up late to finish it. FINALLY!!!
Sorry it took so very long, everyone!
I've only had a chance to skim over all your posts. I'll read them in detail ASAP. I'll put it on the top of my online to-do list. ^^
Edit:
Just so everybody is on the same page (not that we're not, but just so it's been said), the shadow creatures are a widespread phenomenon. They may appear anywhere, but not necessarily everywhere. The locations are random, but the locations are also so numerous that the exact point of origin is more or less moot. They only appear at night. The tendency is to appear in numbers according to the level of resistance. They actually end up killing fewer people than one might imagine. The chance of survival against them, just off the top of my head, is usually somewhere around 60%-80% for each person.
Probably 30% of Telmar is visited by the creatures each night. Different cities may or may not have repeat attacks--one night after the other. It's random. If they do, it'll almost never be three nights in a row. Most people in the wilds, however, WILL have repeat attacks.
Edit:
There! All done reading! ^^
For Tuuli and Tuula, keep in mind the instructions I have for magic. They're in the first post of the OOC. Awesome characters so far.
Raptorman: I noticed a couple tiny errors, like one time there was a "Telmar" that wasn't capitalized. No worries, though. ( I was just about to type "I'm not picky," but then I realized that apparently I sort of am. ) Cool idea with the mace-y thing!
Great posts, everybody! xD
Was Stion going to make character summaries for me to put up for Tuuli and Tuula? If not I can do it myself, now that I've finally posted.

Awesome, sent.
Silvone: I will begin work on the next post, unless you wish to have some interaction with Simion. Let me know.

Re: Sephiris: The Price of Peace - OOC
No, go ahead with the next post. I will fill in anything later. It won't be anything that changes their course of action, at least not right away. So do whatever. I mean, I could step in with a short post, if you'd like, so we can get it out of the way, but that is up to you. I'm fine with waiting if you are.

Re: Sephiris: The Price of Peace - OOC
I will begin writing, then.
Plan for the next post:
Edit: We still have two days until we meet Z'ang. About fifty miles to go, at 25 - 30 miles a day.
Plan for the next post:
- Set camp
- Simion returns
- Beastie attack
- Magical phase to next day
- Set out
- Magical phase to Z'ang (As a post, not as us meeting him.)

Re: Sephiris: The Price of Peace - OOC
Man it going to be awesome as the story continues to develop. Further on, all our characters will probably eventually meet up, like as the REAL chosen. There could be many more besides our characters, too; not really sure yet.
Re: Sephiris: The Price of Peace - OOC
I think it would be interesting to have a few other characters how up that we hadn't known about, other Chosen, so that we have to find a way to incorporate them into the story. It will make it feel more realistic, like the story is alive beyond our own characters. Just my opinion.

Re: Sephiris: The Price of Peace - OOC
Exactly. We could even start doing that BEFORE we actually get to Sephiris. And then some more afterward, as well. xD
Re: Sephiris: The Price of Peace - OOC
Would we need to do sheets, or would they be NPCs?

Old tradition from Taleworlds forums.
EDIT: Your guy's head is shaped funny, or something. The hat doesn't look good on him. xD
EDIT 2:
Mad Kate:
(Perfect fit, I'm happy with the shape of her head.)
Sir Camlin:
(Looks absolutely amazing in a santa hat, by the way. Consider adding to your profile.)
I-forgot-how-to-spell-his-name:
(It's his ear... kinda sticks out. )

In fact ... yes! Please can you up a hat on my Succubus, Stion?

Here you go:
I had to paint over part of her bangs... but otherwise she's normal.
EDIT: I'll keep them on my account until well after the holidays, so no need to transfer them about.

I've barely even started with my post, Silvone. Apologies. I've been driving about, from home, to the high school, to college, collecting signatures, papers, and books.
EDIT: I'll work on it today, and finish it tomorrow (A day off, at last.). So, hopefully, we can get moving again.
