Is it possible to increase the number of posts visible in a thread per page?

Best bet would be to have an option in the preferences, for example, I'd like to view 50 posts per site.

It is possible, yes. 50 posts is an awful lot per page though. The most I've ever seen per page is 20 on all the message boards I am/was a member of, which is what we have it set at here. Especially for the role-playing boards, where posts can get very long (pages and pages typed in Word), seeing 50 posts per page in a thread would mean an endless amount of scrolling.

I'm not prepared to change it from what we have currently unless I hear more from others that may be interested in having the amount increased.

Yeah 50 is a lot of scrolling, but you also have to take into account the fact that people with big signatures and GIF avatars and sigs can really bog down the loading time for those with weaker connections. Thus, page rendering time is increased by at least 50% and whenever you have to scroll, those with weak CPUs, will have to sit and toggle with their mouse and beat on the desk several times just to get the page to actually scroll fast enough to keep up with their eyes.

On the other hand (as I like to view both sides of an issue as much as possible):

We have a better continuity of a roleplay. Scrolling through a plethora of text may seem intimidating to some, but this FOG - a community of advanced roleplayers that like to READ BIG WORDS. I think we can handle it as far as that goes, and with less scrolling-to-the-top-to-click-next-page-button=ness (oh look a BIG WORD) its easier on the wrist and works as a nice patch job for those deep plots.

So, either way, I don't mind - though I like it the way it is.

Well, the way the other board handled it, they simply had it as an option in the preferences: 15, 25 or 50 posts a page... or something along those lines..

slower connection guys don't have to switch to 50, but I don't like to have a new page after every some posts.

Ahh, having the option would be nice, and I'd definitely would be willing to give members the ability to choose which they preferred, but I sadly don't have control over that here.

Well, I upped the post amount per page from 20 to 30. The highest this board lets you set it as is 50, so I think that 30 sounds like a good number. I hope this compromise will work for everyone.
