Are These The Droids I Was Looking For?
Shit, did I really just open things with a Star Wars reference? Way to go Jag.
Anyway, That's Great Bob brought me 'round here. He said something about recruiting some roleplayer friends of his, that's me. Jag. Known alternatively as Comrade. Look upon my works, ye mighty, and be jelly. Like my fine feathered friend Bob, I've been looking about for a decent site to roleplay at, as my main one seems to have fallen into a slump as of late and I have some free....er, energy (?) on my hands as a result.
Relevant shit about me: the whole 'advanced writing' theme of this site appealed to me so long as the atmosphere is friendly and free of elitism, which I can't quite gauge yet, so we'll see about that. I tend towards modern settings, probably realistic, with regards to roleplays, though I am by no means averse to a good sci fi or modern fantasy. Fantasy I'm so-so with, and you can count me right outta historical roleplays in general. With regards to writing, I tend to dive directly into my character and write a lot directly from their perspective (whilst, of course, staying in third person narrative), which has caused some problems with people who got pissed at me for the content of my posts being 'inaccurate'. It's more a matter of, a lot of the time in my posts, the line between reality and character perspective becomes blurred.
Erm, other stuff. I'm generally a nice guy. My sense of humour can run with me at times, but anybody who's been on the internet longer than a month or so should be more than capable of realising I'm not serious. If not...then, just go about things with the assumption that 95% of what I say isn't meant to be taken seriously. It'll help. :v If I type in all caps, or in all lowercase with crappy grammar, there's another indication that I'm being facetious. My passions in life are music, physics, athletics, and more music. Yeah, I don't put writing in there; writing in and of itself hasn't been a particular passion of mine in a long time outside of roleplay and writing lyrics for songs. Fear not though, I do keep my skills (relatively) sharp, and I don't suck. You may have difficulty with my writing style as I detailed above (as it can be crude, vulgar, aloof, terse, or completely random and batshit insane depending on the character I'm writing for), but I assure you, you won't see me all 'shadow raven brshed his niteblack hair out of his blod red eyes witch had no fear in them bcs he wuz a 2000000000000 yr old vampire who cn walk in daylite and sparkle and seduces high skool grls bcs thats not at all pedophiliac'.
...actually, that was pretty fun. Okay, you might see me do that. Maybe. Okay, probably not.Maybe just a little.
Yep, that's me. Jag. I've checked out the rules and whatnot, so no worries on that front, all good, kapische, pedal to the metal, what's for dinner mom?

Lols Jag? Meet Quaker. Quaker? Meet Jag.
Separated at birth? Maybe.
Welcome Jag. I hope you enjoy it here we have our share of serious writers, loons, elder statesmen (persons?), entertaining idea people and some pretty amazing concepts.

I'm confused, in what way am I affiliated with the Quakers?
I mean, there was that one night in Mexico back in '89, but...but they...

Digi was referring to one, quakernuts, whom you seem to have a passing resemblance to. XD
Welcome to FOG, Jag. I think you will find that we are not really the elitists you fear us to be we just have good taste.

Re: Are These The Droids I Was Looking For?
Welcome, Jag!
We've been very careful since the beginning of the site to draw the line between our brand of elitism versus the normal conception of 'you elitist pricks.'
Our angle is striving for excellence. The quality of being elite is not bad. It's when arrogance and inapproachability are thrown into the mix.
You'll find our community promotes drama-free development and serious fun.
I came up with a word to differentiate it, way back. We are the eliterate. ^_^
Anyways, do join in! Looking forward to seeing some of your work!
If you have any questions along the way, do feel free to ask. Right here in your intro thread is a good place, while we're getting to know you anyway.
And yes, you do put one in mind of our own Quakernuts. ^_^ Hopefully he'll hear the collective telepathic summons and wander in here for some off-the-wall antics of doom and cookies. If they serve grapenuts cereal on the moon, he'll be the one to human-cannon himself up there and hulk throw the crunchy goodness back down to earth. xD
Also, yes, these are the droids you're looking for. =

...well, that explains a lot...
ANYWAY! Welcome to FoG, Jag! I just finished responding to Bob's intro thread and encouraging him to bring friends, and...wow! It already worked! Yay friends!
I hope Kalon's explanation assured you that we're not elitist, at least not in the negative sense. We simply hold ourselves to a very high standard of writing because most of us have come from other sites with posts quite similar to 'shadow raven brshed his niteblack hair out of his blod red eyes' or something like that. I like to think we are very friendly and approachable...well, except when Quaker keeps blowing up stuff.
Speaking of whom...oh gosh, you really do remind me of him. I think if you two got locked in the same room, the world would not be able to contain the sheer amount of insanity and would just implode.
Enjoy your stay, and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!

Welcome to FOG, Jag! I always enjoy a good Star Wars reference. Is your name one as well? As in Jag Fel? If it isn't that will just show that I am the biggest Star Wars geek around.
My name is Marc and I am one of the Admins here at FOG, so if you need any help or have any questions feel free to contact myself or any of the other staff and we will be glad to assist you.

Ah, a poseur. /nods sagely. Well, I suppose I should not be shocked that others would aspire to my greatness. After all, it is oft said that placing impossible goals before oneself can be very motivational.
Well okay, nobody says that, but the point is made!

Yeah, my impression so far is that you guys aren't as elitist as the bit about 'advanced and expert role-playing society' might lead one to suspect. Y'all seem a pretty friendly, laid-back bunch.
They don't serve grapenut cereal on the moon, sadly. I was mighty disappointed. They do a beautiful peanut butter and halibut, though, once you stop wondering about where they get halibut on the moon.

Yep, my elitism radar has yet to alert me of any danger signs, and like I said above, the general atmosphere round here seems relaxed enough for me.

Au contraire. Us psychos tend to simmer down some when we're amongst our own ilk. You'd probably walk in on us discussing the relationship between the origins of the French Revolution and Voltaire's Candide ou L'Optimisme, and the effects of the latter on religious intellectualism in France leading up to the Revolution--this, of course, with regards to the implications of changes in religious thinking in France and the role they played in the outbreak of the violence.
We would then promptly turn on you and scream "BEGONE FROM OUR SAINTLY PRESENCE, PEASANT" whilst hurling copies of 'Fabio: Cross Cultural Examinations' at your head.
You don't want that book hurled at your head.
Believe me.
I know.

You're undoubtedly the greater Star Wars geek. I do have a passing sort of fancy for the franchise, though by no means am I the type to go and hoard every comic and video game they ever released.
And nay, I confess I am unfamiliar with that particular figure in the Star Wars mythos.
Thanks for all the kind welcomin's and such, my experience with this site thus far has been nothing short of spiffing.
