Nice to meet you all
Hello, it is a pleasure to meet you all. I am, of course, new to this role playing site and decided to join after being invited from Role play gateway. I think I'll rather like this sight. It seems like a good place to push my boundaries.
My role playing days started when I was in the sixth grade, so about six years ago, after meeting a friend who participated in the then very lovely gaia. I was on that for a few years, but alas, things started going down hill and trying to find a role play that wasn't titled "Cruise rp" or "Kids get locked into skool and get killed!" was very difficult, nay it was nearly impossible. So I shed myself of the site that started my role playing fervor and found myself at role play gateway where I currently role play on a regular basis. My account there is .The-Red-Queen. so if I know any of you or we have role played together then let me know.
I often find myself in another world, drifting off from the now and into the fantasy that is created by me. I am a writer, and for the most part a very good one, and I enjoy it more then anything. I have written short stories, novels, children stories, a plethora of different genre. I fall in love with my heroine's and also with my villian's.
Of course I didn't start out like that. I struggled with reading and writing until I finished second grade. That summer was what started my love for reading. That summer I read the first Harry Potter book and I was in love. I couldn't stop reading and by the summer's end I was reading advanced books. By the end of my third grade year I had finished reading, and fully understood, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea".
Though I didn't fall in love with writing until the fourth grade. And it wasn't really writing I fell in love with, it was storytelling. My teacher was a great storyteller, a genius man and a kind man who I adored. He is by far my favorite teacher and he inspired me to write. He had us create these paper mache dolls that we called Wall Dolls. We created our own characters and our own lives for them. It was my first sample of role playing and I loved it. I constantly thought of my character and what I could make her do next. All through fourth grade and beyond I've been writing stories.
Anyways, now that that tirade is finished I hope that I can further my abilities as a writer through this sight and that we all get along. Thank you and please take good care of me. :3

Welcome, that fourth grade teacher certainly seemed to think outside of the box, I'm sure I would have loved that project. I used to have a wild imagination back in elementary, still have one, but it is a lot more focused and I'm not living 75% of my day in an imagined world/scenerio... I miss those care-free days >.>

Greetings from the boards first "super hero". I do hope you enjoy yourself here. I myself had joined just the other day as well and so far it's been a pleasure to get to know these people. I also started off struggling with reading and writing. But that was thanks to the fact I grew up in the varrio of East LA. So really English was my second language growing up. In fact I spoke almost none by the time I finished the first grade. (This was before the government cared if Latino children could speak english.) My parents sent me to a summer school class that summer and as they put it, "haven't stopped reading or writing since." Yay to those who overcome their poor starts in reading and writing!

I know. I remember the days when playing pretend was just another part of life. I do miss those days too. And also I had to go to summer school in first grade to help me, but it didn't work. And it's great that your parents sent you to school, it must have been difficult not knowing the language.

Actually almost everyone in the school was Latino, so almost everyone spoke Spanish. I'm sure our little child like minds actually thought we WERE speaking the language of America. It as all kinds of culture shock when we went to the zoo and all of a sudden we realized, almost everyone who wasn't in our group spoke English! Luckily it is so much to learn another language when you're young. Hmm my most missed childhood game is Tag. Good times.

Wow, I'm sure that would be a big culture shock. I can't imagine. I live in Washington so almost everyone here speaks English. It is really good though to learn a second language when your young. Going to college level Spanish from one year of high school Spanish is quiet difficult now.

Washington? Near Seattle by any chance. I miss that city so much! Yeah I have to agree I've been trying to teach myself Japanese. Good luck with Spanish.

Hellow, Literate Angel, and welcome to FOG. :]
That was really an inspirational story about your background, and it's lovely to see where you've come today, from once struggling, to learning and being inspired along the way. I think that was a really neat idea your fourth grade teacher had. I'm betting that would have been a lot of fun.
I know how hard it can be to find decent role-plays on some sites. I was once a member of Gaia myself, though I could never bring myself to role-play there, as I did see many of those unfavorable-types, like what you described. (Eventually, I ended up giving my items away, lol, and now my account remains for the sole purpose of getting the word out about FOG to any literate writers that may still dwindle there.)
Well, I really look forward to seeing you around the boards and in any future RPs!

Not just for the writing, but "storytelling?" *nods approvingly* I like you already, and to celebrate your arrival:
Just for you, and don't worry. It's not a lie.

Welcome to FoG, Angel. I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here.
I still play on Gaia, but only for the paper-doll-like avatar. I don't role play there any more. I'm glad I did for a while or wouldn't have met my current lover. ^^_^^

Re: Nice to meet you all
I can relate to the 'not really reading until second grade' thing. I actually became a devoted in sixth grade, when I was living in Germany and the TV sucked. I fell on books because it was either books or cannibalism. Now I hardly ever watch TV. It's just not as good as a book.
Anyway, howdy, and I hope you enjoy yourself in this-here community.

I actually didn't read my first book until first grade. It was The Foot Book by Doctor Seuss. My next door neighbor helped me read The Prince and the Pauper that same year. It was neat. I don't remember what it was about.
I actually became obsessed with reading in third grade. I read as much as I could. Then the Harry Potter books were published, and my brain ate them like my mouth eats candy, so yeah. I can relate a bit.

Re: Nice to meet you all
Thank you all for the warm welcome, I really appreciate it. And thank you immensely for the cake, it was positively lovely. And after gaia started making those new items and taking away the items that I used to have it became extremely difficult to get the angelic stuff that I wanted. I still attempted too, but after I got my account hacked and lost my angelic headband I decided to quit.
I think that is amazing that your spreading the word of this amazing site because it really does seem like a saving grace for those who strive for true literacy. So keep on bringing others to the holy land. :3
I am so jealous of those who have been around the world. I would like to travel some day so that I can better understand their cultures. And congratulations on meeting your lover on gaia, it is always nice to see successful couples. :3

Well, let's see. She's a child, and she's a girl...so she's a middle-aged, stinky male FBI agent.

Thank you for the cookie kaislynn. And yes fluffball I am a seventeen year old girl, not a middle-aged FBI cop. But I'm not quite sure how my age would set you all up for a trap unless your thinking something perverted.
