The Here and Now

All right then, I suppose I should start off by saying hello, so hello :]] My name is Michelle, but you may call me that, Overly, Ovie, Drm, or something other form of my username. I'm a scorpio and damn proud; I am not quite 21, but I will be on 11/11/11. I can be arrogant, but I am also a good person. This being said, I'm definitely a confident person as well. Got to love oneself, and all that jazz. Ignorance, rudeness, and complete idiocy do not sit well with me, so if you are any of the said mention things, I would suggest not trying to communicate with me in any fashion, please and thank you. Other than that, I'd say I'm a pretty open and laid back person. I like people, generally, so don't be too afraid, for I don't bite - well, not too hard at least.

Considering this is a role play forum and what not, I'm sure it would be handy to talk about some experience I have, why I am here at FoG, and any possible interests I have. Well, first thing first, I've been role playing for years. I'd say probably six years, but I did take a break from it for about a year and half, so I've only recently gotten back into it a few months ago (Let's say about March of this year). However, I'm fairly new to role playing forums all together. Actually, this would only be the second one I've belonged to. This brings me to why I am here. Frankly, I found out about this place from a friend who was at another forum with me. I vaguely respect his opinion, but he knows his writing so I thought I would check this place out. I took a look around, and low and behold, I decided to join this little party. Thank you, Christoph. Truthfully, I'm actually quite excited for this new experience. :]]

Now, lastly, what are my interests as far as role playing goes? Well, I suppose I should mention that role playing for me is a hobby, more of a casual kind of thing. It's fun for me and helps me handle my stress. Granted, with experience, people get better - hopefully - as they continue to write, so I view that inevitable, but it should be noted that it isn't my top priority. This, though, does not mean I'm not a damn good role player, but you are free to make your own opinions. :]]

As for what I like to role play, I'm pretty open. Though, I'm not big on role playing things like books, games, movies, etc. Basically anything where another author has already set up the story, if that makes any sense. I just feel limited and I don't like messing with another author's story line. I feel like I'm betraying them. Totally a personal thing. If you like it, more power to you. Other than that, I like to build a role play with another person versus myself or the other person coming up with everything by themselves. I tend to enjoy this role plays more. I also tend to enjoy more complicated, detailed orientated role plays, typically with some fantasy type of thing going on, more. I know I'm being vague, but what can I say, I don't like being put in a box. :]]

I want a community, a home, to belong to. Maybe this will fit me, so hopefully we can find out together. <3

I know what you mean about role-playing fandoms. You either Know What You're Talking About and make sure everyone else does, or you feel like you're ruining the thing you loved about it in the first place. It's also why I personally don't enjoy modern-day role-plays or even anything having to do with our world, really. It feels confining to me. I need more room for imagination. ^_^

Do you like world-building, then?

I'd love to see some of your writing.
We have a One-on-One section if you prefer just two people in a RP, but multi-player stories are often great experiences, too. I like both, but I haven't done nearly my share of One-on-Ones yet. xD

Well, well, well. Aren't you all just a lovely bunch! I honestly feel very, very welcome. Reading all of your replies has actually made me even more excited to be on here - don't tell Christoph this. The last thing we need is for him to get a bigger ego.

And Kalon, I do enjoy world building with the right mind, which I'm guessing there are quite a few 'right' minds around here. If your interested, I definitely am as well. As it turns out, I do have this role-play in the Advanced section that has quite a detailed setting. I've left room for players to add things to the world, so if you like what's already there and enjoy a lot of depth, we'd love to have you. ^_^ I've set it up so that it's easy for new players to join at any point in the story, and I'm taking steps to make it even easier for people to catch up on the individual characters' stories as they've unfolded so far.

Sephiris: The Price of Peace, is the name of it, just look in Advanced Role-Playing. If it's your cup of tea, awesome! If not, there's still lots to explore. When I first got invited here, I browsed a couple role-plays and was completely captured by all the great writers and writing. It felt like coming home. ^_^

As for sharing writing, we do have a section where people can post up their own work--Written Works and Journalism. Members use it for all sorts of things, great or small.

I just joined this place today (no recommendation, I just found it off another site in my ongoing quest to find good RP partners) and was pleased to see the last person to join before me also seems pretty competent, at least compared to the riffraff that makes up pretty much every other RP community I've ever tried out. :p "Eliteracy," that made me giggle. Well, here's hoping we both find what we want!
