Quick Tip: Adding Muse to Your RPs
As many of you know, Forumotion limits our BBCode abilities, so we're unable to customize new codes for you to easily use. The following HTML may seem kinda... complex... but it'll get the job done and you only need to change one little part.
- Code:
<object type='application/x-shockwave-flash' data='http://s2.wp.com/wp-content/plugins/audio-player/player.swf?m=1268956802g' width='290' height='24' id='audioplayer1'><param name='movie' value='http://s2.wp.com/wp-content/plugins/audio-player/player.swf?m=1268956802g' /><param name='FlashVars' value='&bg=0xf8f8f8&leftbg=0xeeeeee&lefticon=0x666666&rightbg=0xcccccc&rightbghover=0x999999&righticon=0x666666&righticonhover=0xffffff&text=0x666666&slider=0x666666&track=0xFFFFFF&border=0x666666&loader=0x9FFFB8&soundFile={param}' /><param name='quality' value='high' /><param name='menu' value='false' /><param name='bgcolor' value='#a8a8a8' /><param name='wmode' value='opaque' /></object>
Okay now before you freak out; it's relatively simple. The ONLY thing you need to edit is the {param}. Having trouble finding it? Hit CTRL+F on your keyboard and type in {param} in the search box. It should jump you right to it and even highlight it for you.
Replace {param} with the full URL (including the http://) of your chosen sound file. I'll even demonstrate this with some fancy screen shots!
- Step 1: Find and Highlight {param}
- Step 2: Replace with your music file's URL
The fruits of your labor:
If you're comfortable with experimenting with HTML, you can change up the colors; but I'll let you figure that part out on your own. Enjoy listening to Daft Punk. Want a quick way to find music URLs on the internet? Check out beemp3.com!

This is really wonderful, Ghost! I'm sure a lot of people will want to utilize it at some point, even if they don't use it on FoG. Thanks for the advice!

This is such a great idea, Ghost! Can't wait to find a good excuse to use it in an RP post!

Youtube? Soundtracks? ...Do you guys really post music and videos right in the middle of your role-plays? As in, IC?
I'm just curious. It does seem like a really neat and convenient way to code music into forum posts. I'm just interested to hear how and why people are planning to use this for role-plays.

Personally, I like to create characters that are always listening to some kind of music (at least, in the modern aged RP's), whether this means they are wearing headphones connected to some kind of MP3 device or whether they have music blaring from a stereo in their room. Utilizing this I could convey exactly what feeling that character is getting while doing his actions. AKA, listen to the music they are listening to as they save the world, or as they walk down the street, etc.
I'd only do this in my own RP's, but that's just me. All in all, I used music to inspire my writing, and I'd like to see if other people would use the same music to see how I got to that point if possible.

Okay, I guess I could understand that. Mood and atmosphere. I always felt it was easier to convey that sort of thing using words, actually, but that's just me. *shrugs*
Thank you for explaining. ^_^

Ten, I know exactly what you mean. I would think this is something that would be best in the very end or the very beginning of a post or in the OoC thread for it. It will be interesting to see how it's utilized on FoG by members. =3

Yeah, I'm not that great a writer as it is right now. I have a bit of a hard time trying to explain feelings and the like with my words. I just need more practice though, and until I am all practiced up, I can probably use this as a temporary fix for my current ineptitude. Haha.

Ten, here's an example of how I've used it in the past.
First post of this RP.
