Oh, hi!
Evening, all.
M'name's Notebookface. Christoph, another recent addition to the ranks, introduced me to this site, noting the quality of writing and general professionalism of the place.
I think I said, "Correct spelling and grammar? Professionalism? On the Internet? Citation needed, brah." (You must understand, I spend most of my time on Facebook and video game websites, where both are unheard of.)
But I must say, what I've seen so far of FoG seems really awesome.
Hmm, let's see. A little about myself... Well, I'm another transplant from Althanas. I wrote there on and off for about three years, participating mostly in one-on-one battles and IC barfights. My writing style can best be described as concise; but I think that's most likely due to my career and how important it is in it to make every word in, say, a thirty- or sixty-second voice clip matter. Oh, and my writings definitely lean more towards the darkly comic.
On the side, I'm trying desperately to get back into writing scripts for radio drama (perhaps forcing myself to participate in play-by-post RPs will help break my writer's block). I also do a bit of voice acting here and there. And, of course, I like to read. Used to not care about books as much, until I was on my own and had to start paying my own bills that I realized that books were cheaper, more entertaining, and new content was more readily available than my other big vice, video games. (That, and I believe the video game industry has been on a downward slope since last generation, but that's a rant that will be saved for another day.)
But anyways, your sandbox looks cool. Mind if I bring my toys and play with you guys?

Re: Oh, hi!
Hello...Notebookface. Welcome to FoG! That is an awesome name. lol I almost felt like I was calling you a name when I said it.
Ah, a friend of Christoph's? How nice! He seems like a very cool and smart person. I've been getting to know him in our ChatBox. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better now too.
One-on-one battles and bar fights? Sounds like a typical day in my life. No, I kid! That seems entertaining.
You write scripts for radio dramas?? That would be awesome! How did you ever manage to get both into that and voice acting? I think that would be really neat. You must have a pretty awesome voice. I actually kind of rediscovered books again myself, and I've found that the writing really inspires me and also helps me to expand my vocabulary. Hopefully reading has helped to kind of clear away the haze of writer's block for you a little!
Let's make sand castles together.

Welcome Notebookface! I just joined a few days ago as well, but FoG seems like a wonderful place so far. Plus I have known fate for a little bit, and you couldn't ask for a better Admin and founder! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact myself or any of the other staff here at FoG.

Re: Oh, hi!
Awwww yay! I love when friends bring even more friends to FoG, and then we become friends with them and it's just a whole big circle of new friends!
Wow...it's way past my bedtime...
ANYWAY! Welcome to FoG, Notebookface! It sounds like you've been seeking a literate role-play site for a while, and let me assure you that we love nothing more than good grammar, excellent writing, and maybe some soul nibbling here and there. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions! Any of the staff or admins are more than happy to help!
Oooooh...I want to make sand castles too! I'll even let you play with my bucket and shovel.

Re: Oh, hi!
I didn't expect you to actually join, amusingly enough. But then again, you've always been good at giving me the internet version of the "Meh Face". XD Glad you decided to drop in after all.

Sand castles are for sissies. I make sand citadels!
Welcome to the swirly mists, Notebookface. Like my partner in crime, SilvanArrow, I'm one of the global moderators here and will be happy to assist you in any way. You can view the rest of the staff here should any questions or concerns be in accordance to a particular criteria.
I think it's awesome that you have experience and talent in voice acting. Another member of FoG and I used to put together prerecorded podcasts for the community in the past. We're actually working on bringing it back right now. You can probably expect a PM from me later about it.

Re: Oh, hi!
Thank you for the warm welcome!
Christoph, making you second-guess yourself over AIM makes it worth paying my bills every month.
And Ghost Writer, funny you should mention doing a community-related podcast... A few years back, Althanas held this big invitational 2v2 writing tournament, and Christoph and I recorded a podcast at the end of every round recapping the results of every match, the next round's brackets, our thoughts on each match-up, and irreverent humor with a peppering of terribly outdated memes from Christoph. It was basically ESPN for a play-by-post site.
So, yeah, I've got a bit of podcasting experience. (And now that I think of it, podcasting is something else I really need to get back into.)

Re: Oh, hi!
Welcome to FoG, Notebookface. Do you mind if I call you Notebook?
I think it's really fantastic that you think so highly of FoG and that you've decided to be a part of it.
You've voice acted? I have wanted to voice act for a very long time - pretty much ever since I became obsessed with Avatar: The Last Airbender when I was sixteen. I've always felt that it's something I could do because I love to act, and training my voice to express things you can't see from my face would be a beautiful challenge for me. I do so love a good challenge.
Have you voice acted for anything of note or just small things here and there? There's nothing wrong with just doing small things, mind you. They can definitely be just as fun! If you can link to any videos or clips where you've voice acted, I would honestly love to hear what you've done!
Anyway, my name is Kathryn. I'm the "advisory" Administrator. You can just think of me as your friendly school councilor! If you have any questions or concerns, you can come to me, or if you just want advice on something, I'm here to help.

Re: Oh, hi!
I've only acted in small things here and there. I haven't done anything recently due to a big move and the end of my college career, but I dug this up on YouTube. It's about a year old.
It's called "Man Up!" Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3--with outtakes!! I play Gary. I don't quite remember if I'm in the first part; it's been a while since I've listened to it.
And if you're interested in voice acting, I would love to help you get you started. A good USB microphone is pretty cheap (if you don't have one already), sound recording and editing software can be legitimately downloaded for free, and I've got a list of sites bookmarked full of people like myself looking for parts and actors.
Look at me, hijacking my own thread. Whoops!
And yes, of course you can call me Notebook.

Re: Oh, hi!
That sketch was really cute! You made a great Gray! You had the perfect voice for him, and you did a really good job with the voice acting!
I don't think I have an actual microphone that plugs into my computer. I do have a mic/ear piece combo that came with my webcam though I don't know how good it is., and it doesn't plug into the USB so much as into the slots designed for them.
hahah I'll definitely scope around for a decent mic and decent sound recording software. Thanks for the advice!
It's not technically hijacking since it's your thread. Sure, it's slightly deviated from the original topic, but really, we're still just getting to know you. For instance, I've learned that you're into helping people achieve their goals if you can! heheheh

Re: Oh, hi!
Hey! Notebookface!
...best. call-out. ever. xD
You should totally wear an earpiece and draw lines across your face. You'd be a spiral-bound!
Welcome to the FOG, Notebook!
Nice to have you two aboard. Looks like you're already settling in nicely.
If anyone's wondering, one good program for audio is Audacity. It's a free download, and it has plenty of tools. I haven't recorded my voice much--I sound like the DM in Gamers--but I've done plenty of editing and messing around. It's pretty fun.
Looking forward to seeing you around, Notebook! You and Christoph seem pretty cool.
Welcome again, and enjoy the swirly mists!
