Happy 4th of July!
Happy 4th (to all you Americans)!
Have you seen fireworks yet? What are your plans for the day? Are you celebrating or just relaxing with your extra day off?
Axiom Awaits and I are going over to my family's house for lunch today and then are headed out to a party/get-together at his friend's house. Afterwards, we're supposed to go see fireworks.
I actually have to work in the morning, and I'm about 2 1/2 hours away from where I work, so I have to get up early and drive back and head straight to work. Oh, I can't wait till August when I can finally move back here.

Re: Happy 4th of July!
August will come sooner than you think! But it will take forever to get there...Lol. That is how it always is.
I am going to be hosting a swimming party at my grandmothers (where I live) and then heading over to my parents house to watch a few fireworks.
Spoiler for unhappy part:
Anyway, I've been trying to explain what independence day is to Theoden, but all I've gotten so far is "Let's go see the man with the white hair and glasses (Ben Franklin) and the man with white hair and no glasses (George Washington).

- Spoiler:
- This time last year was when my aunt had a surgery and died, and then we found out another family member had been trying to kill themselves via alcohol poisoning (what a shit coward way to kill yourself, I think) so 4th of july is not all exciting at my grandma's. However, we're still coming over during the day to spend some time with her, and then leaving at night so they can have some peace to grieve. That family member, who now lives with us, doesn't understand this and it's been annoying trying to get them to leave my grandparents alone (In fact, I don't know why this person is still here, for they are in no way grateful for what we've done to keep them alive or humble of the mistake they made). Anyway, I've realized that the 4th isn't really something you can just not celebrate...it's going to be all over the place whether we want it or not.

Re: Happy 4th of July!
It's Firecracker day!
The day we celebrate bombs!
Because we humans like to blow stuff up. xD
I wonder what America would have been like if they were English... *ponder ponder ponder*
We'd have awesome accents, but we wouldn't know they were accents because we wouldn't have "normal" because THAT would be normal.
So I guess the existence of America makes possible the epic British accent!
It's just too bad people had to die to realize this. Then we didn't even learn our lesson. Southern accents are awesome too! There should be a Intogethernce Day. (Or a States' Rights day, if they had won, but that's another story.)
You gotta wonder, right? Is that huge Atlantic ocean the only thing that made it work? New world, new start, let's make an awesome free country.
Makes me start thinking of alternate histories or derivative fantasy stories.
I think games unite the world. [/random]
No really! America, Japan, Europe, Australia... all those places have lots of gaming! And we're awesome!
There should be an Inintendence Day!
Seriously though, there's nothing like the ol' 4th to bring on the patriotism. The founders had the right idea, and I don't think we've done a good job sticking to it, but we've made some good changes over the centuries, and hopefully we'll get back to basics someday, get rid of the corruption and start in with some good old-fashioned common sense. Go America-spirit! Rise again! Be nice to your allies, stop supporting your enemies, be nice to your people, and help save the world.
That's the short, light-hearted version. ^^
Today I'm just going to relax. Enjoy a very long weekend with family and watch the fireworks from the top of the hill. Bring some snacks and stuff. ^^
Oh hey! Thinking of all this reminds me. I met SkyMan in person! This guy. A "Real Life Superhero" in the Seattle area, doing his best to make a difference. You go, dude!
Awesome guy, real friendly, man of conviction. He's real popular around this time of year. That was cool meeting him, a little while back. July 4th reminded me of him and what he does. Good average-joe going above and beyond sort of role model.
Anyway, Happy 4th of July!
We'll all have sore eyes in the morning! xD

Re: Happy 4th of July!
This is a little late (just a little), but I will share my experience anyway
I worked 8 am to 5 pm on the 3rd, and then 1 am to 10 am on the 4th. I was absolutely exhausted by the time I got home, and the swim party made all of my muscles cramp. My arm actually still hurts. I totally reach my physical exhaustion limit.
That night I saw a total of one fire cracker Taeo did not like them, so I took him inside and we watched the Big Bang Theory. But it was fine with me. I don't really care for fire crackers. I am just glad that I essentially had the day off. The first holiday ever, I think, even if I did have to work extreme overtime for it.
