Hello to all :)
Well, as the title says~ Greetings all ;D I'm a newbie here! I'm not the biggest fan of introductions, but yeah, have to start somewhere, right? Mainly I found this site when I searched for a literate Roleplaying site, and well.. from some RP's I've seen so far... You people are amaziinggg... i don't think I can scale with you people just yet, but hey, practice makes perfect ;D
My name is Gerben, but please call me Gerpie. I'm 16 years old and live in Holland, yep! I probably am one of the younger ones on here, but I hope that doesn't matter ^^' I just graduated from school, and am going to college! Some of my current hobbies are.. Obviously writing C: Otherwise I wouldn't have searched for a place like this. I also love taking photographs! My dad has an awesome camera, so I borrow it at times and take photo's of things that I like ^^.
I've been a literate RPer for slightly over a year, so I know my way around longer replies! And yea, I will do my best to type a proper reply up whenever I get to RP with someone ^^ For now I'll probably stick to one on one RP's. Oh, yes, since I'm Dutch... Please expect my grammar not to be perfect... I'm doing my best though!
My favourite type of roleplay's have to be fantasy based. I've started as a dragon roleplayer and do not hope on getting rid of these kind of roleplays, though, I'm not sure if there are a lot of Dragon RPer's here. Bascially I'll RP anything, though.. I dislike sci-fi and futuristic kind of roleplays... Well.. You can't like everything, can you?
So yea! If you think you want to RP with me sometime, please contact me somehow :]
I hope I haven't rambled on for too long... At times... I just can't stop! Hoping on hearing from you all soon!

Re: Hello to all :)
Welcome to FoG, Gerpie! (That's such a charming username, by the way! It's fun to say!) You're definitely in the right place for literate role-playing. Don't worry about your age being a factor. We've had plenty of writers your age come through here, and they've been great.
If you like fantasy RPs, then you're in excellent company because that's a very prominent genre around here. And speaking of dragons, I freaking love them! *points to avatar/signature and coughs loudly*
Enjoy your stay at FoG, ask if you have any questions, and...um...watch your soul. We sometimes nibble...

Re: Hello to all :)
Who else finds it oddly awesome that the first two people to respond are the ones with dragons in their avy/sig setup?
Personally I've never done an actual dragon RP, but I DO have some anthropomorphic dragons in a RP I'm hosting here. It's in the Advanced section though. You're welcome to join and I'd be happy to help coach you, but the requirements can be steep when you're just starting out.
Welcome to the FOG!
It looks like you've already had a nice look around, so I hope you're enjoying yourself.
If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask. We're all pretty handy with answers around here. ^^
Looking forward to seeing what you can do and how you develop.
Happy writing, and enjoy the swirly mists!

Thank you so much for the heartly welcome ^^ And actually, I have seen you around! Because well.. To a RPer like me.. You kind of stick out xP And I hoped so! I don't mind being the younger one, but it's a good thing if there are more people of my age though~

I think that's normal though xP By the way! If you're really interested in dragons, which you probably are xP I got a shortstory about dragons on DeviantArt, though it isn't the best, you might like it C:

Thanks so much as well x3 And well, if you don't mind me asking...What is the post amount you have to have before sending PM's? I tried pming some people but I couldn't ;c It didn't allow me. So yeah xP And, why aren't there people in the chatbox? I think it'd be great talking to some people there C:
Andd the requirements for advancened RP's are 4 paragraphs of 10sentences each, right? As long as I get the time and people inspire me enough, that should be easily reachable ^^ But as I said before... People that are out of my scale kind of discourage me when I RP with them... But yea, not much I can do about that D;
Re: Hello to all :)
For being Dutch, you're actually quite proficient in the English language, and I'm sure you won't have a problem at all with grammar. Shoot, we all say "screw it" sometimes and toss the rules out the window. I do it all the time when I'm tired!
Welcome to FoG, Gerpie! I'm one of the global moderators here. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the eerie-blue, bloody-vanilla, skinned-peach, or ectoplasm-green people (<--- that's a link; don't let the colors fool you).

Thanks! x3 And well, that mainly is because I got an interested in both English and writing, when writing stories in English, especially roleplaying, you can improve greatly.. Especially when your primary language isn't English.. since I started RPing I've improved a lot.. Thanks to a few people ^^ I hope I'll find the same expereince here as well!
and let me guess... You're always tired? And sweet! I will! I have contacted Fate before ^^

Haha I thought so ^^' Can't blame you for that, right? C:
Though, mind me asking some stuff? C:
1. How many posts do you need to get PM's?
2. Why doesn't anyone join the chatbox at times? :C
3. Are there example sheets you can fill in for your character(s)?
4.... Does it matter if my posts are a bit short at first?

- Honestly don't remember. xD I think it's only 24 hours and three posts, but I could be wrong. I think someone should add that to the PM Rules for reference. *nudges Fate*
- The chatbox is still a slightly new feature to the board and it will take some getting used to for our members that are more IRC-knowledgeable. We have some plans in the future to bring a lot of activity to the chatbox, however; so if you stick around for a couple of months longer, you'll see an opportunity that everyone can jump in on. *hinty-hint-hint for everyone out there*
- Character sheet templates are typically up to the author of the role play, but we're pretty relaxed about them here. You are free to design your own template as long as it relates to the role play it's connected to (obviously). Characters can also be stored for safe-keeping in our Archives forum, where you are free to create one thread for all of your characters and use whatever template your heart desires.
- Absolutely not, so long as you strive to meet the standard given. Our IC moderators do a great job of ensuring the quality of our role play posts. They know how to "read between the lines" and see whether or not a participant is putting forth an honest effort. If you have trouble with meeting the standards, or are unsure about how you should construct a post to include elements such as character development or plot development, we have plenty of authors on FoG (myself included) that are more than happy to provide assistance to anyone struggling.
You can brush up on some great techniques and skills for role playing by visiting our Writing and Role Playing in General forum, wherein you'll find dozens of threads and topics about all sorts of writing experiences and solved dilemmas. You are also free to ask whatever questions you may have about role playing and writing in that forum.

Thanks so much for answering me ^^ These things certainly help me out C: Though, there is one thing you should know... I'd love to actually draw myself but I'm.. Not allowed to due some certain reason, that's one of the reasons I started writing as well... Though if you don't want to know about it, that;s fine..
and about the pm's, they're working now ^^ I think it's 5 posts because as soon as I hit the 5post mark, I was able to pm someone At least it works now ^^
Ah! Sweet ^^ Don't worry about me at all, I know how to extend sentences by just adding depth and describing stuff! 4 paragraphs will edfinitely be doable, at least, as long as I get the time! Though.. I definitely will learn from all of you! As long as I'm around guys that are above my level, I'll definitely improve one way or another, even if it means RPing with you, or just stalking every post you made xP
Oh, yes! another thing... This forum can include ALL kinds of roleplays, right? Because as said earlier, I'm used to dragon-type roleplays, but not only these.. I've been RPing animals, mainly wolves and foxes for quite a while too... I really hope I can find a partner to RP both themes with sooner or later ^^
Oh, yes... I think it'd be alright if I asked for help via topics, yes? At least IF I need it I hope I can ^^

Absolutely! You are more than welcome to role play anything you want, so long as it has a mature mindset. What I mean by this is: role plays and written material involving horror/gore or scenes of sexual nature are allowed so long as they have a purpose to fulfill in the story. Such scenes included in a work simply for perversion or "smut" are not allowed on FoG. If you ever need a clarification of this, just ask, and I'll be happy to explain in more detail.
As long as you adhere to the above (and, of course, the general rules of the site - accessible via the drop down menu on the top of main index), you are free to write whatever your heart tells you to.

I...stick out? Oh stop, you're making me blush... I could definitely see us RP'ing in the future! Please don't feel discouraged that someone will "outwrite" you. One of the best ways to improve is to RP with lots of different people and pick up tips and advice from all of them. And no one here is going to judge you or criticize you for putting forth an honest effort in your writing. We all just want to improve our art and have fun while doing so!
I'll make a mental note to check out your story sometime! I actually started planning a novel series involving dragons back when I was in college. Given my current time constraints, it might take a couple of lifetimes to actually finish them, but I like plugging away on scenes here and there when inspiration strikes

Mission accomplished >D Jkjk ^^ And heh, that would be fun ^^ I might even look forward to it C: And heh... I wish I could get myself to that, but it aint so easy.. Sadly... Though I do my best! I definitely do agree on that though, It won't help you improve to RP with people on the same scale as you, well.. I never will call myself better than someone else, except of course... If they're 'only' action RPers that can't even write literare sentences... I'll definitely do my best of improving, and one thing... Qaulity over quantity, right?
Yayy ^^ As said, it isn't the best, nor will my works ever be, but I like it myself, and other people seem to like it too! If I improve, I will fix the story a bit, or maybe even rewrite it C: Not that it's done though... In total it's just a few pages long.... After all I'm not very good at writing long bits just yet.
And yes! Fun definitely takes a part in learing and getting better! If I hadn't enjoyed RPing until now, I wouldn't have improved at all! But to me... RPing is like becoming someone else for the time being... A different personality and looks, even a different world or place to live! RPing can be soooo exciting...
By the way, I can just start a topic in the one-on-one RPing board asking if people would like to RP with me, right?

Again, thanks so much ^^ And don't worry about my maturity, I can be quite a kid at times, but I can handle sexual related RP's.. I've done them before, and no! I do NOT and will NEVER do these for 'pleasure' that's just... Wrong... I'm okay if it affects the story, and will play them out if it adds up to the story, but for someone's sick pleasure? Never.
Re: Hello to all :)
To answer your question in the one-on-one board, we have a forum called one-on-one interest checks. That's where you would start a topic asking if someone wants to RP with you. It helps if you have an idea of what kind of RP you want to do. It can as general as "I want to role-play fantasy or medieval" or as specific as you want. Like, if you have a story concept in mind and need someone to play a specific character, then you can do that as well. Feel free to browse the interest checks to get an idea of what other people post. Just from lurking, I tend to see more people respond to threads where the poster already has a specific idea, but you can always brainstorm the finer points with your partner.
Hope that helps!

Hmm, yes, that does quite help! But just so you know, I quite was aiming for that board in the first place, but I kind of just... Got lazy But yush! I don't really have much ideas just yet, but I think just having a title+ some describtion of what I'd want could get a few people interested C: At least if there are people that'd want to RP with a newbie like me xP And a question... I know it differs for everyone, but what is the avarage posting time on this forum? If you don't have a clue, then it doesn't matter xP It probably is a rather awkward question as well... But yush.. I'm just quite the curious guy at times :]
Re: Hello to all :)
Curiosity is a good thing! Honestly, it depends based on the role-play and how much free time the players have. In the Viemera role-play that I've been with for over a year, we'll go through phases where everyone will post within a few days, followed by real life kicking us in the rear and slowing it down to maybe a post every couple of weeks. I'm also in a LoTR-based role-play in the advanced section that is very low-key, and it took me a solid month to write my second post because I was completely slammed with work. I usually don't recommend taking THAT long (It was certainly uncharacteristic for me because I like to strike while the iron is hot, so to speak.), but as long as you let your fellow writers know if you're going to be busy for a while, they're usually fine with it. It's only a problem if you drop off the face of the earth for weeks at a time and don't let anyone know. They may assume you've lost interest in the role-play and either continue without your character, or sometimes the story will just die.

Sadly, I've had that happen to me before... I wish I had told my partners that I was going to be REALLY busy and probably wouldn't reply for a month or two... And when I came back, it was locked D: and well, they were kinda pissed at me.. Not that I blame them, of course not.. It was my fault and I had to pay for it ;p With a new RP that was. xP But don't worry ;D IF I happen to disappear, I will make sure that I leave a note! ;D
Re: Hello to all :)
Hi, Gerpie! It's great to see you here after chatting a little bit over on deviantART. ^_^
How is Holland this time of year? You should post some pictures of it, especially since you enjoy using your dad's camera! I am into a little photography as well, and it's neat, since my dad is also the photographer in my family. :]
Whoa, that is awesome that you've done dragon role-playing. I used to get involved in dragon and animal-related role-plays as well! I don't know too many others that are into that for some reason. I actually started out doing all animal-type role-plays, from lions to wolves, to dinosaurs and dragons, and even horses, bats, and dolphins. (I'm a big animal-lover, so that probably helps inspire me to write about them.)
Well, have a good time here!!

(I'm a big animal-lover, so that probably helps inspire me to write about them.)
Well, have a good time here!!
Yeyy, getting welcomed by THE MOTHER<3 And yes ;D Twas fun talking a bit with you on dA ^^ And I shooullddd... I just don't feel like taking pics often lately xP I need to start writing again! I definitely need a dragon-partner on here.. That'd be epiccc x3
though.. I'm not very sure if I'll find a partner soon ;c I do hope so though~ Having someone to RP here with would be sweet... Especially if I could get medieval/animal or dragon based x3 I love animals too btw! Whaty's your favourite animal? ;o Mine is the arctic fox x3
