As Salaam-Alaikum, Greetings, and Namaste,
I suppose for the purposes of this thread I should be known a stateless person. More importantly; however, I am currently seeking asylum. In all honesty I have sought out this forum because of what one might be able to call a forced migration. I hope to find a certain level of cultural homogeny. I suppose I also have a few objectives of my own, which I won’t bother with elaborating on until prompted. Obviously, there is a great deal of creative opportunity to be had here. The heightened level of activity is also a big plus in my book. A lot of the forums and other mediums for role play I have come across resemble a cemetery more than a community. Furthermore I find myself on this forum because of some level of forced resettlement and a certain level of discrimination where I came from.
I’d rather not dwell on my location of origin. I believe it is only important for me to say that I have traveled the universe feeding off of one planet before moving on to the next without being able to find a single environment capable of sustaining my hunger.
I can say that my most active environment has exponentially faded over the past several years. The environment I grew up in was one that promoted education and improvement in the art of writing. After years of degradation; however, my particular style and people of my caliber have all been rebuked time and time again from a chaotic society that is foreign to say the least.
I hope to find the required amount of viable sustenance on this planet. Role playing and writing has always been a strong outlet for me to retain some level of sanity. More importantly, role playing has always inspired me to continue writing and expanding my ability as a writer. I also have aspirations of becoming a published author. I find this activity to be very important to me as a means of enjoyment, education, and mental stability.
Unfortunately, I find the level of proficiency on this forum as fairly intimidating so my stay may be relatively short if I feel I cannot adequately perform to improve my own ability. I still hope to be welcomed with open arms. I will welcome any inquiries. I will accept any challenges or invitations with wide eyes and a cunning grin. Please speak freely and without hesitation.
Thank you,

Hello, Calamity, and welcome to FoG.
Despite having been somewhat forced to find your way over to us here, I do hope that you not only find what you are looking for at FoG, but also can enjoy yourself. :] There certainly is a lot of creativity to be found amongst the board members, as you said.
Your background in regards to your education sounds like it was pretty incredible prior to what it has deteriorated to today, which is far too bad. (I've actually been discussing that recently with my boyfriend.) Still, at least you were able to get something out of it before its decline. You certainly come across as an intelligent person.
There's no reason to feel intimated, but I do appreciate you taking role playing seriously, though I'm sure you'll find a lot of humble, down-to-earth type people around here as well whose writing abilities don't necessarily reflect in their personalities. (Ie. No one's snobby or snooty around here!)
Thank you for your introduction, and I look forward to seeing you around!

Why would you leave if you felt you could perform well?
No fun without a challenge? Or a typo, perhaps? Maybe you meant inadequate? As if you think this forum could defeat you somehow? I doubt that, based on that intro.
Either way, welcome to the FOG.
Don't go insane on us, now; there's plenty of insanity here already. :p Plenty of Role-Playing to keep you going--promise.
Happy writing, and enjoy the swirly mists!

Thanks to you all for your kind words and warm hearted welcome. I will be perusing the threads for the time being if only for some arbitrary amount of time to get better acclimated with this place.
As it were, Mr Ordona was it? Well, it was a typo and I am grateful you brought it to my attention. I am sure now, it will make much more sense than previously.

Welcome to FoG, Calamity! You sound like a really interesting person with a fascinating writing background, so I have no doubts that you'll quickly find a home among our humble role-playing community. And I do use the word community deliberately. That's one of the aspects of FoG that really surprised me as well was the strong sense of community and how we help each other grow as writers. So please don't ever feel intimidated or that your writing doesn't measure up to a certain standard (And I think you need to give yourself more credit because it looks like you're a very solid writer!).
I hope you enjoy your stay and call FoG your role-playing home planet! Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!
Oh, and watch your soul carefully. We like to nibble... And sometimes crazy people will invade the welcome threads to wreak havoc. Just to be safe... *sets up bear traps, pit falls, and rope snares* There we go
