Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
Yeah, I was kind of avoiding making this thread simply because I have a link to my Deviant Art account down in my signature and I'd rather you all go to that and give me pageviews and comments there rather than here, but I've come to realize that this is a rather....annoying method, so I'm putting my artwork here as well. Naturally both places will have different artwork in their galleries. All fan works not relating to the Roleplays I'm in will be here and I'll put some sketches up here that won't be available on my DA page.... even though my DA account could use the updates. >.>
Anyway, the purpose of this is to help with commission work as well as for people who do actually ask for commissions. I will post any finished works here and all rough sketches here. Also if you want commissions you can PM me or post here. Either works.
And to add ALL comments are welcome even constructive criticism if you find the time for it. Please let me know what you think.
So you have a better idea of how much having me draw for you will cost you here below are the following prices.
COMMISSION RATES:
(prices may go up with time and commissions will close as soon as too many come)
*Pencil Sketches*
Bust: $5
Waist up: $10
Full body: $15
*Inks*
Bust: $25
Waist up: $30
Full body: $35
*Full Color*
Bust: $45
Waist up: $50
Full body: $55
For 2 or more characters add $5 for each character added, unless it's a full color drawing. For Full Color add $10 for each character.
A complete background will be another $30 added to the original price.
Yeah, I know I'm asking a bit much for someone who you all have seen so little from, but for the type of work I put into these sketches all the prices seem reasonable and I hope that once you see the finished pieces you may assume them all to be a bargain. I'm willing to draw whatever you desire in whatever style you see suitable to your character whether it be Anime, Realistic, Cartoonish, or a more Traditional comic book look. You name it I'll put my best foot forward to do it.

Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
Putting up some work while the recently scanned pictures upload onto the Photobucket albums. Yeah.... this is the only stuff I'm willing to share. The rest needs to be edited down and such... but I'll put those up later.
Roleplay Characters I did a while back
Just sketches in my Sketchbook
Red Eyes
Drawn from Memory
Done with pencil and inked by hand with Copic Multiliners
Life Drawing with Model
Done with Charcoal (my favorite medium) on newsprint
Render of a Magazine Ad
Done with graphite on poster board about the dimensions of 8x5
Render of Afro Samurai
Done with graphite on an 8X11 sheet of paper

Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
Okay more uploads while I'm waiting. These are newer works than the previous.
I have no idea why I'm putting this up... this is a fail. It has two left hands and it was done at DA's 10th Birthday Party in LA in a makeshift art room that basically looked like the arts and crafts room of a daycare for children.
Done with mechanical pencils and black and white acrylic paints.
Eyes Practice
Done with my Cintique tablet in Photoshop
Drawings of Me (more of my anime style look but I drew myself like a child and chibified here.)
Done with pencil at work. >.>
Forsaken
An unfinished work that I don't think I'll ever finish in the future, but it gives more of an idea of my anime style.

Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
Alright!!! My uploads for Digital Muse are done!!!!
Okay, Digi, these are for you. ((All comments for the drawings are directed towards Digi.))
Page #1
These were taken right out of my sketch book. Most of the stuff on this page was done in practice which is why I was debating putting this up but most of it is pose work for the final product as well which is why I decided this would be good for you to see.
*Sketches of random body parts and such was practice as well as the fail avatar drawing. Naturally I hadn't picked up the pencil in a while and since you wanted some realism works I wanted to make sure I could put something of quality up. I did the fail head straight and that failed hard so I did some face part focus and the eye, nose, and mouth are for that.
*The stick figures are gesture drawings for the final pose the ones with stars are the ones I most likely will finish with. I don't like drawing stock characters just standing there much so I wanted to get T'ra interacting with something. In most of them I used a pocket watch.... which I think would be amusing to play off her curiosity. The others are a globe and a panel I imagined her using as a navigator. These are more for you to see the process work Digi and just stop me if you see somewhere I'm going that you don't like.
Page #2
And HERE is the work that was MEANT for you to see. I used all the descriptions you gave me on her appearance and did a bunch of sample sketches on the different looks I could go with. They are lettered for your convenience if you like the feature of one and hate the rest of it. Just tell me which one you imagine being more of T'ra and what features you liked and etc.
The eye size, 'hair', ears, neck collars, etc. are different in each. (A) and (F) were kind of throw aways and the focus was more on the body shape, facial structure, and color placement (for my memory). I haven't done much work on the designs for the clothes yet because I figured once we had her overall look worked out I'd find a theme to keep with and so on. Anyway, feel free to tell me what you think in a comment here when you want.

Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
I really like the feel of E though with a more elongated face. The neck collar on that one also works for me. I'd also like the nose narrower. Basically nothing but the ridges until th e4 small nostrils. He body would be VERY exagerated and long lombed as she's basically almost 7 feet tall.

Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
Okay. I'm glad you chose E because that's my favorite.
And by smaller do you mean her nose is more a part of her face, and are the nostrils visible then? Or do you mean thiner?
And with the length of the face do you want an exaggerated longation like here or is it just a slight length?

Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
Exactly. Ther is no bridge really. just a series of small ridges in a faint line to her 4 nostils (which are visible)
Unfortunately, your link didn't work....but everything about her is exagerrated in lenght. Very stretched out and gangly

Basically, the entire head is elongated, not just one section. But if any area would be highlighted, it would be the forehead

Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
Alright. I've got a better image now. Thank you. I'll do a few more rough sketches before I get to finally work on the final.
Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
Man this took me way to long.
My 3rd set of roughs of T'ra the full body was purely a body and design focus and the drawings on the left were practice works of applying the edits of her face. How does this work, Digi?

Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
The body is perfect. Just as I'd pictured. The vest would be nearly full length, to her ankles. ALso her 'hair' would be to her mid-back. The face in the small, lower inset is really good. Just sharpen her cheekbones.

Alright. I think I'm ready to start working on the final now since all your edits are really easy changes. Next drawing up will be the final sketch. Then I'll move onto the coloring and you'll have your picture soon enough.

Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
Alright!!! I've finally got off my lazy ass enough to type down the commission prices I made. For anyone willing to look into getting me to draw something for them. Please look into giving me some money in the future... I could use it.
The following will be linked to the first post for convenience.

My final set of roughs for T'ra. I wanted to figure out a good pose and design for her vest which is what we will mostly see since the drawing is torso/waist up. I think you can tell the ideas I've chosen. Also this is a last chance for Digi to fix something I'm doing wrong aside from when I start working in color (gonna need help with the color choices).
For a bigger version see my scraps in DA.
In case you weren't sure. I want to use the drawing in the upper right hand corner, meaning a slightly detailed drawing since I have her drawing on the ships walls with lipstick. XD But I also like the design for the vest that I came up with there so I tried to get a better feel for it in the bottom right and fix a few things... Also wanted to give it some embroidery since Digi said T'ra had a thing for it.
Of course the final will have more detail, but now I'm set for the final drawing completely so I'm for confident to but the final line to paper, and move it to color.

I do like the upper right one best, yes. Not sure about the lipstick tho. lols

Oh don't worry. I have no intention of her wearing it. The point is to imply that she doesn't know what it is, so she's drawing on the walls with it.

Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
Alright I'm no where near finished and I wasn't going to post up till I had the background done, but then I remembered promising to show you my progress, Digi, and I figured I'd give you this.
The red line is temporary and for me to remember the figure when I start doing the detail. Pretty much every line you see here will not be in the finished product because there is no such thing as an outline in realism, but I wanted to get the more distinct design work done. The rest of the detail will be done in the painting/coloring process. The next step will be to get the background finished and then from there color the figure.
It will take me a bit longer to get the works done now that everything is pretty much done from computer, but I'm working to get it to you as quick as I can.

OHMIGOD!!! That's absolutely amazing!!
The only question I have is the structure her hair cords are coming out of. WHat are those?

Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
I'm glad you approve so far.
Well I imagined it more as a typical headband rather than anything that she could use. It gave a much needed Sci-Fi feel to the look of her. I imagine some of the T'ra would have different ways of show casing their 'hair'.
When it comes to the individual hair cords themselves I'm thinking I may do something to make it easer to transfer the color from the blue of the skin to the green of the hair. I may have to do a gradual fade from the colors which would look pretty but might overpower the hair with blue so the green doesn't stand out OR I'm going to add small a small ring around the root of the 'hair' to help with the Sci-Fi look as well as let the green easily cover the whole of her 'hair'.

I like the headband idea better than the rings at the base of each cord, I think.
What was it you planned on having her writing on the wall again?

Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
I haven't actually decided on what she could be writing on the wall. It could be some form of alien symbols, actual english words, scribbles, or maybe she's drawing something. If you have any ideas I'm definitely up for it.
When I color the cords I'll have to show you an examples of what I meant.

Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
Another progress piece. The wall in the background is pretty much done now. Once I color T'ra I'm going to put a slight reflection on the wall and theres the obvious writing that's missing. Otherwise I figured I'd show you what I've done with this so far.
Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
That totally works for me.
Maybe lower the horizontal section of the background to reinforce her extreme height.

Re: Skitzo-phrenick's Art Asylum
I actually can't do any editing to the background unfortunately, but there is quite a bit more that was cut off in that progress pick.
Hopefully with the full of the background done it will have that effect. I just know that when I lowered the horizontal part of the wall it looked less like a ship and more like a house and effectually lost the Sci-Fi/spaceship quality of the piece. It was my major problem with the other backgrounds I designed before it.
