The Hotel Lobby

On the corner of fifth and McGuire is the Jamais Vu Hotel. While acclaimed as one of the nicest hotels in the city, perhaps in the state, all guests claim to feel uneasy when staying in their rooms. Some report supernatural activity, while others simply say it’s the general atmosphere; all residents say they feel as if they’re being watched. This is part of the reason why many people staying in the Jamais Vu can be found in the hotel lobby, keeping one another busy.

The Jamais Vu has several odd occurrences some of which being reported sightings of ghosts wandering the building. Two of these ghosts being the "Shadow Man" and "The Gray Woman". The Shadow Man, though not actually a shadow, is said to be clad in a black suit and walks about the hotel as if he has "some sort of business to tend to." Many people who have seen the Shadow man claim to feel as if "something is off" often reporting feeling cold. The few who see him long enough to take note of his black eyes claim to feel as if he can "see right through them".

Reports of the Gray Woman are much vaguer, considering most people who come into contact with her seem to suffer trauma shortly thereafter. Supposed side effects of coming in contact with the gray woman are memory loss, panic attacks, blackouts, and in extreme cases sleep walking back to the hotel. The Gray Woman apparently appears as a woman in her early fifties, clad in ragged gray fur coat. She only appears to guests and staff when they are alone, and often sticks around for long and often cryptic conversations.

On top of the eerie feeling of all these strange situations, various cases of people up and vanishing without a trace seem to center around the Jamais Vu. One minute they’re sleeping their beds, and the next minute they’re gone. Wives have fallen asleep next to their husbands, only to wake up and find them gone, children are tucked in and nowhere to be found in the morning. At least once a year a “kidnapping” or “abduction” comes up in the papers with the hotel at the center of things.

On March 5th 2008, twenty six year old Marisol Blanch inexplicably went missing during a blackout in the Jamais Vu. Officers stated that someone had tampered with the power, and suspected that whoever caused the blackout could have been connected to Marisol’s abduction. However, the clues ran dry four months into the case and it was dropped until further evidence could come up. This, however, didn’t appease Marisol’s fiancé, who suspected that the police hadn’t even scratched the surface of Marisol’s disappearance.

So just what the hell is this all about?

I can’t go too far into detail without giving away what I have planned. The Hotel Lobby is a mystery based roleplay where everything really isn’t what you may be inclined to think it is. The plot will center on Marisol’s fiancé, the permanent and non permanent residents of the Jamais Vu, and whatever detectives may be involved in the case. Side plots are encouraged, but the main plot with center around the character slots I’d like to be filled below. . .

As far as residents go, there’s no limit. You can also assume staff positions. For every character I will think up something that connects them to the story, and then PM you with the details so that we can work something out. As for myself, I’ll be playing one major character and a few NPCs here and there. I figured I'd put this up here to see if anyone would be interested before I go about making an OOC.
