Faith Divides Us. Death Unites Us. (OOC) *Closed*
Between the years 2023-2031 society was ruptured world wide. Political events, economical crashes, and natural disasters began to tear the structure of every nation apart. In 2046 a new religious order broke off from the remnants of the dying Catholic Church. As the world’s oceans and land masses shifted they waited, peacefully building up a following of survivors that grew with each year as they offered the visions of hope and stability the very church they removed themselves from had done for centuries a thousand years prior. 2052 marked the year they truly came into power, ushering for a beacon of hope in the midst of the declining human race.
In 2068 a city was finished near the center of a peninsula that formed some distance of the coasts of what were once northern Spain, France, and southern England. Here the Council of the Cross took totalitarian control, residing in a large structure deep inside the city that looked like well over two dozen European Cathedrals had come together to form the outer wall. A shallow dome, from which grew a steeple that aspired for the heavens, covered the inner sections of the building.
Here the Council thrived and society itself flourished again, even as it continued to fall everywhere else in the world for the next five hundred years.
In 2589 the council faced their first true problem. Up until this point everyone within their grand city submitted willingly, kneeling to the Faith of the Council. The only persecutions that had ever been needed (to public knowledge) were over crimes such as theft and murder in the slums. In that year, however, one man stood against their faith. In time the ‘Ungodly Freak’ was banished from the city. In the wake of his banishment the Council found a new problem. The man’s actions had incited within the disgraced and the poor, who have always been looked upon in scorn by the Council.
The year is now 2601…
Information regarding Arkhangelsk:
Arkhangelsk rests on and around a steep incline surrounded on three sides by jagged cliffs. The districts get increasingly wealthier as one climbs the ascent. At the top, resting on the relatively flat plateau is where the structure housing the Council of the Cross sits.
Around the rising cliff, sprawled out in a crescent shape with rise in its center, are the slums. Half shambled towers with numerous people making them into the best communal homes possible often filled with tents for privacy. Shops mingled right alongside the makeshift homes in every building. Both home and shop stalls spilling out and covering the streets in most places, especially in the several town squares (which are generally spherical or oval in shape).
Council Soldiers: Uniforms bear an uncanny resemblance to that of the Vatican’s Swiss Guard. Weapons are magazine fed, semi-automatic rifles modeled after the American M1 Garand. Officers carry semi-automatic pistols modeled after the 1911 Colt on their hips.
Rebellion: Weapons range from those modeled after the clip fed, bolt-action British Enfield and the internal magazine fed, bolt-action Russian Mosin-Nagant. Many also use revolvers and what semi-automatic pistols they can scavenge or manufacture in private.
*Note about weapons: None of the firearms in this role-play will be identical to those aforementioned. They are modeled after such, but not exact replicas. There are also other guns out there, some more powerful (such as modeled after the browning automatic rife, aka BAR, and so forth) but are not nearly as common. Those listed are the most widely used.
Technology of Arkhanelsk:
Electricity is supplied throughout the entirety of the upper distracts. Much of which comes from small nuclear reactors with other sources such as solar panels and geothermal. Wealthy citizens have access to lights, refrigeration, heating/cooling, radio broadcasts and so forth. Transportation, for the most part, is limited to the military force, though wealthy civilians have access to shuttles provided by a few competing privately owned companies (who must manufacture and maintain their own shuttles).
In the slums electricity is a rarity and serves as a source of light more than anything. Underground freezer rooms have been constructed for preserving food, although ancient methods of curing with salt has come back into style among these people. Both in the towering buildings and the streets it is likely to find barrels as a source of warmth and both lanterns and candles used for lighting. Communications are improvised radios that have, in recent times, been used purely for the resistance.
Credits: Original influence derived from the concept behind the Still Life album by Opeth. Further developed in collaboration with Gunneh.

**Final Notes: This role-play will allow for what my good friend Plaguewalker calls ‘Gun Fu’. However, I will keep a close watch on things and this is limited… there will be no Gun-Kata or any of that. Basically, running along walls, flips, etc like seen in The Matrix and Resonance of Fate. *** EDIT: Somehow it skipped my brain, but Quaker reminded me of it. Basically... Parkour. That is what you are allowed to do.

The IC is now up. Just a side note to everyone, anyone can do free running/parkour. However, if you're going to be doing wall runs and flips and such while still firing a gun you need one of the implants Mathias' is recovering from getting.

Wrote in a bit of an edit to the first post. Just two scenes.
Gunneh, the first bit was to see if it could help you with a post. Thomas is nothing more but a near-dead minor character, so you can have him find Viktor and fill him in on how bad the situation is and go from there. Thomas being more or less an NPC so you can do whatever with him.
