I had an idea that would involve a marriage between two hostile nations in order to bring peace. Both players would dread the marriage, but over time come to respect and perhaps love one another. It is up to the role players to decide if they fail or not. I imagine backstabbing politicians trying to gain access to the throne, angry commoners who take violence into their own hands, two contrasting religions with priests who refuse to bend, etc. Can a union of two people bring a union of two groups who hate one another?

There will be a focus on romance, but I definitely need help coming up with the back story behind it all. Magic/no magic, it doesn't matter to me.

I guess it doesn't really matter. I had it in my head I would be the female but I can play a male just as well.

Do you have any ideas for the world space this will be in? That is all still open for discussion.

Perhaps this would take place in a high fantasy world.
One idea could be that a power sacred to both kingdoms rests smack in the middle of their borders, both kingdoms have been feuding over it for centuries.
Now, tired of the fighting and the cruel hostility, these two royals are thrust together.
Or perhaps another scenerio, I am open to whatever you would like.

That's actually a really cool idea. This is what I love about role playing, having someone else fill in the missing pieces!

The woman would likely be shipped off to the man's kingdom, so there would probably be worries that his would take advantage of hers. I wish I could think up more stuff, but I'm really tired. I'll let it roll around in my head until morning.

When I get home I'll add you to my messenger. I think we should each create our own world spaces (mine in the west, yours in the east) with mountains seperating the two. We do need to agree on what the power is...and what race we are. Human, elves, other?

Mountains sounds fantastic, the sacred power could rest right in the center of the mountains, sealed in 'the holy caves'.
Perhaps this sacred power if the remnants of what the Goddess's power they both worship left behind so many millenniums ago when she returned to the heavens above them.
Both kingdoms would feel they have a right to it, yes?

Yes, but I think each side should worship this Goddess differently. They must have split because they don't agree on something. maybe how the power is treated? One side thinks it should be revered and never touched, and the otherside thinks that it should be accessible? So there is constant fighting over it.

Maybe the kingdoms each heard different stories from the Goddess's 'priests' about the edict left behind by the Goddess about her powers left behind. Perhaps the priests believed that the only way to awaken the Goddess once more was to incite war upon the world she left behind in favor of slumber. Therefore the priests told the royal family on one side to protect the power and never use it and the priests on the other side told the royal family to harness the power in order to protect their people.

Ooh, evil priest plot! I love it! I will assume that royal families don't know what the power is besides these abstract descriptions, and there is probably a crazy priest army guarding it anyway. The royal marriage is supposed to stop the war, but the priests want it to continue, and on such shaky ground that wont be too hard to accomplish.

Well, being as both sides mean no ill will in regards to the power, they have just heard different stories, I don't mind either way. You may choose defensive or offensive first.

alright, I am thinking my side of the area will be covered in snow and some rough terrain due to getting the northern winds and maybe your area should be the opposite with getting the southern winds.

Education: Liliana has been brought to study every language known to their universe. Advanced arithmetic, English, geography and political science was thrust upon the young princess as well.
