Well, since the prelude didn't go down so well, I'm moving on to the regular plot and hoping that, since it has more selling points, it'll go over better. Again, this is set in Illyria. If you want more info, look here. DON'T read the whole thing, unless it's just for fun. It's FAR too much, and so little is relevant at the time-- it's intended to be used as a reference in the RP, not as preliminary reading. I don't mind if you DO read the whole thing, but don't feel obligated. Just setting, races, tech, some of the history, maybe skim the organizations. Setting, races, and tech are the most important, in my opinion.
Now, this RP will be following a new organization, one called Rainlands. The Illusti Association took a government contract to create super-soldiers, soldiers that had been physically merged with an enchanted crystal, allowing magic to come more naturally to them as well as to rob them of emotions and free will. Rainlands was iteration one of this program, imperfect in almost every way. Their crystals give them minor affinity for magic, enough to interface with other crystals utilizing the Illusti Network or other open interface methods, but most of them could barely light a cigar with their magic (ie- if you want a magically-inclined character, the option is there, but don't go nuts-- You'll still need to fight a fair bit using the "standard" means). Furthermore, the members of Rainlands still held their free will and emotions, which only made them more dangerous considering the aspects of their successes-- The crystals used for Rainlands robbed them of their memories, and granted them the experience (but not memories) of the now-terminated Valhalla agents. The members broke free from the facility, taking with them enough evidence to blow the story wide open if they were pursued. They stole a prototype ship and took to the skies, living on the run-- even though Illusti isn't after them (as far as they know), they discovered the hard way that Illusti "obtained" subjects for their research from death row, meaning that each and every one of them was a murderer or other criminal before their memories were wiped. They struck out on their own, forming Rainlands, the organization I've been referring to this whole damn paragraph. Working as a mercenary group, they became a family to each other, and started a comfortable life on board their ship, a Ranna-class prototype battleship/frame carrier they dubbed the Tempest.
Before I continue, I have to make something clear. Everybody dies. And by everybody, I mean everybody in Illyria. This RP is set in Illyria's final days, the end of times. The end will be a long time coming if interest lasts, but the story only has one end, and that's the end of the world. This isn't an end the world sees coming, but it has brought it on just the same. It probably won't even be a blip on the radar in the story until over half-way. (Note: This MIGHT be a small exaggeration. The way I have the plot planned out offers a VERY narrow course of events that could allow survival of some people, and an even narrower path that would allow most or even all the members of Rainlands to live.)
Relations within Rainlands are the main topic that I'm shooting to explore with this RP, how a group of people, devoid of their past, can join together to make a makeshift family for themselves. How they bond, how they struggle, how they grow as people. How they react as all they had is slowly taken away, and finally how they (probably) die, when the plot finally reaches it's end.
Now, a quick note on how this RP will play out. The RP will be broken into missions, which can be taken in various orders. Each mission will have a benefit to doing it over other missions, even if the benefit is not made clear until the mission is underway. After every mission, I will list those that can be attempted next, along with descriptions, rewards, etc. Then the CHARACTERS will vote on them-- ie: it should be an in-character decision process, if at all possible. Missions earn money, which can be used for better equipment and upgrades to existing equipment, and I will also award skill points after missions based on my personal analysis of how each player did-- If someone took on a vital action in the mission, they would be more likely to earn a point, but so would someone who just had several high-quality posts. These points can be redeemed for, you guessed it, skills and traits to expand the capacity of what your character can do before I consider it borderline godmodding and/or drop you a PM.
So, anyone interested?

I'm going to give this a bump, and just make one request: If you decide your not interested, could you at least make some suggestions about how I could improve this to garner a bit more attention?

Re: Planetrock
You're signed up CH.
As is, I'm waiting to hear from Kingmaker about something before I start this. I think I might just throw up another RP to tide me over until I can get this rolling.
