We Are One OOC
It's the year 2040 and the world has not changed much from our own. However one thing never changes, Century city is plagued by crime. But for several decades now that has begun to change. Not just in Century city but the entire world a rise of people with extraordinary powers. They are few in numbers, with many towns and cities not having anyone with these gifts. Places like Century city however seem to attract these heroes. That’s right. Heroes. Masked super heroes like the comic book movies that still dominate the box office.
Despite the power they posses many have decided to use their powers for good. Criminals are running and crime in places even as bad as Century city has been going down. These people are bringing hope to the world with their acts or bravery and their power being used for good. The people seem to believe that all those gifted with powers have gone to those of the most steadfast morality. Or perhaps the ones using powers for their own gain have just been that quiet.
The heroes do have one great flaw however, they never work together. Weather it’s pride or distrust, or maybe it’s a simple matter of competition. Whatever the reason they must find their way around it because a new evil is coming from Empire City, and whispers from the cities people claim that it has killed their heroes. But they whisper, because it is common knowledge that this force has full control of city and now its bored and has it’s eyes set on a new target. Century city.

Charlie Lango by Squall Reyes
- Spoiler:
- Name: Charlie Lango
Age: 30
Ability: Absorption: His powers are as simple as they are powerful. He cannot be harmed, and it’s not some sort of invincibility. That is a rather mundane power with no real use since you are still bound by the strength of normal men. No he absorbs punishment, namely the energy, and he uses this energy to increase his strength, speed, stamina and recuperation. He absorbs direct energy, from force of strong gust to the velocity of bullets and blade making his skin durable to all manner of punishment.
Fighting him is an uphill battle, with the hill being more like Everest. Simply because the more you fight him, the stronger and faster he becomes. To make matters worse for our heroes he has begun to develop the ability to fire the energy as a beam of light of devastating effect once he has gathered enough energy. However there of course is a down side, he can only gather energy from direct action, which mean he cannot simply gather the suns power and blow up the world.
Another more serious draw back to this power is overloading. Charlie is still just a man after all, and the human body can only contain so much energy before it overflows and renders him unconscious.
Side: Evil
Bio: Charlie’s future was set from the day he was born. It was the same as every poor son of a bitch who grew up in his neighborhood. Except Charlie was special and that was a bad thing for his rivals, which was pretty much every other kid in the neighborhood. How bad? Well let’s put it this way. Go to his old neighborhood, and you’ll see no one 10 years his senior and no one 10 year his junior. Charlie was young, powerful and stupid. He killed much of his competition violently and visibly.
He might have killed EVERYONE if it wasn’t for the law. Though he did manage to kill the two poor officers sent to check on the tip they were passed, Charlie knew better to stick around a city where you had the label of a cop killer. He had not quite mastered his still maturing powers. So he left for greener pastures as he would call it.
From the age of 20-30 Charlie had consolidated his power in Empire City. Along the way discovering and “nurturing” 3 more with powers. Charlie had also learned from his time in the old neighborhood. The body count is not much smaller, but the crimes are much quieter. Unknown to the people and the few heroes of Empire City, Charlie was setting his pieces. And then he made his move. Try asking Empire City about their heroes and be greeted with blank stares and teary eyes. Now he plans to do the same to Century City.
Appearance:
Faye by Plaguewalker
- Spoiler:
- Name: Faye
Age: 25
Ability: Photographic reflexes - Faye possesses the ability to perform any action she sees another human being do, so long as it is physically possible for a human to perform. Because of this, Faye is a master of countless fighting styles, swordplay, and gun fighting. She is an expert at parkour, and can perform stunts straight out of actions movies without batting an eyelash. She is constantly learning new things, and her repertoire of skills grows daily.
However, things that require her to stop and ponder out, like puzzles or math problems are difficult, and often confuse her.
Enhanced Agility - Faye’s reflexes are heightened beyond that of the normal human, allowing her to react and respond to things that normally would be unavoidable. It is difficult to land a punch on her because of this, as well as strike her with most melee weaponry. Combined with her knowledge of the Gun-kata, Faye is capable of dispatching most armed foes with a single well placed round, while simultaneously avoiding their bullets. She is still only human, and to keep up those levels of performance for an extended period is incredibly taxing on her body.
Side: Evil
Bio: Faye’s life before Charlie was difficult. Her parents discovered her abilities at a young age, and decided that instead of living in the middle class, they wanted the high life, and their daughter was their ticket to fame. At the age of five, Faye lost every friend she had ever had in her life, and the world of games and fun that she had enjoyed came crashing down around her.
Life on the road was hard, and her parents didn’t truly care about her, content in the fact that she could do everything they needed her to do, without so much as a complaint. Of course, if she did protest, she was beat until she gave in or lost consciousness under the heavy fist of her father. Almost everyday she was forced to perform for strangers and suffered through the ordeals of ‘stardom’ while her parents enjoyed the profits of her misery.
This was her life for the next 15 years; and shortly after she reached the age of twenty, he came into her life. Charlie Lango. The strange man appeared outside the RV that had served as her prison for so many years, and her parents had allowed him into her closed off little world. Faye could barely make out what they were saying through the doors, but soon enough she came to know what had happened.
They sold her. For how much, she has never known, but Charlie has told her it was a hefty sum (she has yet to decide if she truly believes him on the matter, but likes to entertain the thought that he paid a great deal for her.) He gathered her up, and brought her back into the world she had left so long ago. She was confused, and disoriented, but the man did not seem willing to let his investment go to waste.
He gave her challenges, pushing her to learn new things, and to perfect all that she already knew. She hated him at first. She was his property, and they both knew it. An item. A thing. Just like before. It burned inside her, snapping and snarling for a release off all the emotions that had been suppressed all those years.
As time went by, though, she found herself enjoying this new life. She had a full bed to herself, and a bathroom at the end of the hall that was hers. Food was plentiful, and there was no shortage of interesting things to do, or watch. It was bliss, and when Charlie asked for her help, she was more than happy to oblige him. She owed him so much, it was the least she could do after all of his kindness. A simple favor. Nothing more.
Soon, simple deliveries turned into arson. Arson turned into kidnapping. Kidnapping turned into murder. The slope was slippery, and she had not even noticed how far she had slipped. Never did she question his requests, his words and charity sweeping aside whatever morals she had with no resistance.
He was Charlie. He provided for her, kept her fed, and gave her a reason for living. And he needed her to help him. It became instinctive, and she found herself hanging on his very word, itching for the chance to prove her worth, to earn his praise, to earn her place as his possession, his item, his thing.
In the five years she has been with him, Faye’s eagerness to please has grown into devotion, and love. She refuses nothing, less she lose favor in his eyes. Her mind is devoured by the thrill of a challenge, and the bliss of his presence.
She is his possession. His item. His thing.
Appearance:
At 165lbs, Faye stands at an unimposing 5’4; There is an air of confidence about her and a smile of soft white is often etched across her face. Her hair falls to the small of her back with bangs, although it never seems to tangle or knot, simply content to dance across her vision. Her steel grey eyes are harsh on those they look upon(save for Charlie of course); Faye’s skin is soft olive, and she has never had any trouble with blemishes or scarring. She is modestly endowed, although the young woman still has her curves, and the lean muscle she has often adds to her appeal.
Joe Williams by Dax
- Spoiler:
Name:Joe Williams
Age:74
Ability: [explain the ability in full]
Joe’s ability is to freeze things by touch. In order for the process of a freeze to begin Joe must touch the object with his bare hands. It must be his hands and no other.
Once Joe touches the object, in this case person, that person will start feeling a vague sense of cold that will multiply very fast into a very uncomfortable coldness until it becomes pain and the flesh starts to freeze, blood-vessels burst and so on. The frost will then spread if Joe’s hand is left unchecked to the rest of the body and eventually kill the person, completely freezing the object in the process.
Due to the inconveniences that his power may pose, Joe is always wearing two white gloves. Another thing that must be noted is his small yet sturdy cane that he uses more out of fun than necessity. Joe has learned how to fight with his cane with relative ease and agility and has been able to somehow modify his cane to do something quite useful.
Somehow, Joe is able to extend the freezing power of his hand to the white tip of his cane. The result is obvious: a deadlier Joe.
Side:Evil
Bio:
Joe has always been good at two things and two things only: freezing the hell out of stuff... and being creepy... on soo many levels. Joe started his little story exactly 74 years ago when he was born to a family of doctors. Needless to say, he seriously injured and eventually killed his mother when she gave birth to him because of his ‘gift’ and took on the hatred of his father and rest of his family. It’s not like he cared, though; Joe killed them all before his twentieth birthday.
Now, this rather tumultuous childhood led to serious... difficulties mentally.
Joe suffered irreparable mental trauma since birth through family trouble. To add into the fray, being naturally socially awkward, Joe developed a large group of imaginary friends since he had none of the real kind. His ‘friends’ all possessed a very dark sense of humor that some would rather call pure sadistic tendencies, but Joe loved it. More than that, he found them marvelously funny. In reality, these dark ‘comedians’ all whispered to Joe to use his ‘gift’ to kill, torture and rape. Joe finally did.
At the age of seventeen, he had accomplished his first TRK, as he would call them (Torture, rape and kill). The only evidence that could be traced to him was the fact that the victims normally were dead of frostbite and various cold-related afflictions and his loud, eerie, psychopath laughter that resembles that of a crazed clown only higher-pitched and screamy. Ever since his first kills and the many that have followed, Joe has been a notorious predator and has been miraculously able to stray from the clutches of the authorities.
Until this day, Joe is still the scourge of the weak and helpless. He has always wondered how another ‘special’ or ‘meta’-human like himself would feel like...
Appearance:
Candy Cane by Inerio
- Spoiler:
- Name: Candy Cane formerly Ricky Cruz
Age: 24
Ability: Nerve Control- Candy's power lies in her power to control her sense of touch. She can manipulate so as to feel burning hot in the artic, or incredibly ticklish from an axe wound. Her control lies in the all nerves in her body, and can be passed on to other's through touch. This, however, means that whomever she is touching only feels what she's manipulating in the area she's come into contact with(hands, arm, leg, etc). In order to gain more control over someone she would need to create more contact however, overall body manipulation would be impossible. In addition, the effect Candy has over someone all depends on how hard she's touching them, meaning if she's lightly tapping them the pain won't be more than a pin prick as opposed to if she's squeezing with all her might. The effect she has also varies on the person, seeing as she'd probably have better luck taking down your average John Doe than she would a hulking brick wall of a person.
Side: Evil
Bio: Raised in a single parent household, Ricky grew up in a relatively normal atmosphere considering being raised in the slums with her mother and sister. Her power was discovered at a young age, but considering that her mother hadn't quite thought on the more destructive side of the power never really kept tabs on her child's gift.
Ricky began to go bad around her sophomore year of highschool, where she had begun to experiment with various different types of drugs. Upon graduating with barely there grades Ricky had already gained several charges of assault and three reports of suspected rape. Eventually inability to pay for her drugs caused her to steal from her mother, who in turn sent the seventeen year old to rehab.
Lying her way out of rehab, Ricky made it a point not to return home and instead ran off to Empire city where she became a prostitute, adopting the name Candy Cane, to further support her drug habit. Getting caught up in the more sadistic side of her personality, torturing her clients before dumping them off in a back alley somewhere, Candy had neglected to pay off her drug debts. This, of course, didn't make the drug lords she owed money to all too happy with her.
So, the nineteen year old sought the help of Charlie Lango. Realizing the girl had powers of her own, the man took her under his wing. For the past couple of years Candy has been doing what she calls "outsourcing" in which she goes after people who have left Empire City in attempt to escape Lango on the man's behalf. She also makes business deals, but let's face it, that's no where near as interesting. It wasn't until recently that Candy was called back into Empire City, but not even she knows what for yet.
Appearance:
Candy stands at five foot five, being rather average in height at least. Her hair is long and nearly pin straight, black is her natural color but it isn't uncommon to find Candy with various multicolored streaks or even an entirely new shade of hair. Candy's eyes are a hazel color and slightly upturned with a pair of large lips under a narrow nose. Candy's only constant distinguishable trait is the sparrow tattooed on the inside of her wrist.
Heroes
Mirrorsshard by Raptorman
- Spoiler:
- Name: "Mirrorshard" Elizabeth or Elly Richards
Age: 18
Ability: She has the ability to control and generate diamond. This comes from her and is subject to her will, which allows it to be controlled by her. She uses it for many things, one of them is to cover herself in a suit of it. She can project it as a shield or encase people in it to trap them. She can also throw shards of it at things. For her the diamond while it is still a solid behaves much like a liquid and can alter as she manipulates it. However any projection of it beyond herself is extremely draining and tiring and so can exhaust her very quickly. So she tries to not have to use the power beyond the covering herself in it. For her to do something like a Mr. Freeze stunt and imprison someone in it totally would leave her dizzy and exhausted for several minutes at the least.
She also has little real fighting skill and so her fighting strategy pretty much consists of wild flailing that is typically not too difficult to avoid. Though if she connects the suit of solid/liquid diamond does lend more damage to her wild attempts at subduing people. In addition she is really new to the whole hero thing and so isn't good at it at all yet.
Side: Hero
Bio: Elly was born and raised in a pretty much ordinary family and has lived in Century city her entire life. She had two siblings both younger than she was. She was much loved by her family and for the most part led a fairly unassuming life in school. She was the sort of person who people tended to not look at twice and who preferred to go home and do read or write rather than having an active social life like most high school girls. Also a little differently from most girls she liked comic books and such, and enjoyed reading them, even if she never thought she would have any sort of super power. And so she went on about her life, never really doing much.
It wasn't until actually a few months ago that she learned that she had a power. Of course she had never been put in a dangerous situation before that. One night a robber broke into her house and happened to do it at the same time she was going downstairs to get herself a drink. The rest of her family was sleeping at the time. The robber saw her and pulled out a gun before panicking and shooting at her. In shock and fear her power had come to the fore and she had unconsciously covered herself in a layer of the diamond she could manipulate. As such the bullet hit her and knocked her down but didn't break through and seriously hurt her. The robber after shooting her assumed her dead and ran.
It was that incident that lead to her discovering that she did indeed have a power. Through some awkward and spur of the moment lying she hid her newfound power from her family. They suspected she was hiding something about what had happened with the break in but being caring people they didn't press her about it. She waited until she had finished high-school and moved out to her own apartment on the other side of the city before attempting to follow the heroic path she now felt herself destined to proceed upon.
Appearance: Elly is a fairly tall woman standing at about 5 foot 8 inches. She has very fair skin of the sort that sunburns easily and it is clear she hasn't been outside too much in the past from her slightly pallid coloring that just isn't natural. Her face is delicate and almost elfin in appearance. In that she has prominent cheekbones and such. Her eyes are light blue and typically considered nice to look at. She has brown hair that is slightly wavy and reaches down to slightly below her shoulders. Her body is nothing special to look at though people tend to acknowledge her face is her best feature. She is thin and not particularly well muscled as until recently she was not a person who did much strenuous exercise
Hope by Ragter
- Spoiler:
- Name: Hope
Age: 20
Ability: Bone Manipulation - Hope's major ability is rather unique, to say the least. This power consists of her being capable of manipulating her own bones. From making them much stronger to using them for attack, she can do it all. She can create new bones as well, and manipulate bones outside of the body. So, for example, a bunch of bones could be on the ground, and she could easily manipulate them for either attack, defense, or something else.
As for how much stronger she can make bones, she can make them about two to three times stronger, and at least three times thicker than usual. She is unable to manipulate any bones at all if she doesn't have a line of sight of them, and when making bones appear, it can take around three seconds for them to do so, and during that time, she is vulnerable to attack.
Enhanced Strength and Intelligence - Another ability of hers, although a rather small one. As the name of it might suggest, she has increased strength in comparison to normal humans, as well as increased intelligence. Her strength makes her capable of fight off at least five people at once, while her intelligence puts her in the genius category. There is one rather large issue with her having both enhanced strength and intelligence though; her speed is lower than normal.
Side: Hero
Bio: Hope was a bit of a late bloomer when it came to obtaining her power; it developed soon after the incident that caused her to go to the streets. You see, Hope and her family were rather rich, she leading a rather pampered life. She was a rather snobby girl then and didn't appreciate the finer things in life; her parents were nice, to her at least, though to other people they weren't as nice. One night, a team of robbers broke into her family's mansion and when they were caught in the act, they resorted to violent means.
They had her mother captive, and forced her father to open the safe; soon after he did, the both of them were shot. Hope, hearing the gunshots, soon headed downstairs and was spotted quickly; at the same time she was spotted, she spotted her parents' fresh corpses. When she looked back at the robbers, one had pointed a gun at her; he shot, and she felt no pain, for a wall of bones had arose in front of her. Unsure of what was going on, the girl simply thought about making the robbers go away; soon after she did that, the wall of bones rushed towards the robbers, who fled at the sight.
Soon after the police showed up, and she simply stated that the robbers hadn't wanted to kill a little girl, so had just taken the stuff then left. She didn't want them to learn about what she had done in fear of what they might do or say; she soon started to get shipped off to foster home after foster home. At each one, she usually had problems with the foster home and often ran away from them; one time when she ran way, they didn't come searching for her. She wandered around and found herself in the city. She wasn't able to find her way back to the foster home, and soon took to wandering the streets.
Eventually, after living on the streets for a while, she met the animal that would provide her with the friend she has to this day. She met a cat that was close to giving birth and felt pity for the creature, even though her parents had always told her to leave such mangy creatures alone. She found the creature endearing and soon began to help feed it and give it water, both of which she often stole. Often, she would only manage to steal the cat's food and water before she was discovered and chased off, so she went days at a time without food or water. Eventually, the day came for the cat to give birth, and give birth it did, with some assistance from Hope; unfortunately, after it had birthed its babies, it ended up dying.
Knowing she would be unable to take care of so many kittens, the young girl began to give them away to families that would take them despite them being on the streets; soon, she came to the last one, and decided to keep it for herself. At the time the cat had given birth, she had been eighteen, and had been training her powers for a while. She soon decided to leave the city that she had been wandering the streets of for a while and move to a new city, Century City, where she soon revealed her powers. After she revealed her powers, she soon took up the role of a hero, defeating criminals, mostly in the hope that she would find the ones who had killed her parents.
Appearance: Due to the fact that she spent years on the street, she looks a bit malnourished. She never got her assets to any large size in the slightest, and her face still shows signs of what she endured on the street. Before she had obtained her super strength and intelligence ability, she had gotten in quite a few fights, which explain the numerous cuts on her right cheek, near her ear. She is only 5'2" and weighs in at 130 lbs, which she believes to be the average for her height. She usually looks rather friendly and approachable, unlike her earlier self before her parents' deaths. She allows her pitch black hair to hang rather low, since it ends near the bottom of her back. She has blue eyes in her possession, and also has rather pale skin. The clothes she wears are usually different from day to day, though she never wears what one would consider a stereotypical superhero costume; she usually wears normal clothes. The one constant she does have, however, is a bag strapped around her shoulder, the bag itself hanging at the side opposite of the strap the shoulder is on; inside of the bag is her cat, Muse.
Anthony Elazegui (Twist) By Buzzwulf
- Spoiler:
- Name: Anthony Elazegui (Twist)
Age: 35
Ability: Spatial-Inertial Conservation: Anthony possesses the ability to make “strings” with his mind. These strings are completely invisible and intangible. However, they are also almost unbreakable. Only with extreme applications of force can the strings be broken, and even then it’s generally whatever they’re attached to that breaks. He can create these strings attached to any point he can see from any point on his body, though is he wishes to attach them to something else, he must touch that thing first. The strings cannot expand or contract in any way (they are not tensile, but more like rods) and so two attached items cannot get closer or farther apart from each other until they are no longer attached. They can, however, still move on an axis. Any strings the he creates fade within a few minutes.
There are several important caveats to this ability. First, Anthony can only attach strings to whatever he can see. Second, a fast-moving target can make it difficult for him to draw a bead on it. Finally, anyone with psionic abilities can snap a string as if it was nothing. Though this may appear to be telekinesis at first (and Anthony takes great pains to make it appear that way), his ability is in many ways more helpful and in others more hurtful than that more common ability.
Side: Hero
Bio: Born in Chicago in 2005, Anthony grew up on the rough size of town, learning to dodge cops as a survival skill. With three brothers, he learned to do things fast: he ate before others stole his food, ran before anyone could kick his ass, and thought before jumping into stupid arguments. He also quickly developed the vocabulary of a sailor with two missing legs and a mouthful of rotten teeth. It was a slow road for him when he first discovered he had powers, and he tried to keep it as quiet as he possibly could. Instead of embracing his abilities, he hid them for years before he acknowledged their presence.
Anthony also discovered early in his life that he had a protective nature. He refused to allow his mother to put their family cat to sleep, helped victims of bullying on the schoolyard, and helped out his brothers when they got into fights. He got something of a reputation as a protector, and kids would go to him if they needed help, though he just professed to do what he could. It was no surprise to anyone when he enlisted in the Chicago Police Department after two years of college, and became a senior investigator within four years. In those crucial years, he learned how to handle a gun, how to tell combatants from non-combatants, and how to investigate a case.
It was a surprise, however, when Anthony enlisted in the FBI. The Federal Bureau welcomed the up-and-coming investigator with open hands, and Anthony found himself with more cases than he knew what to do with. He was quickly re-assigned to the Boston branch of the FBI, and given more leeway to pursue his own investigations with his new partner. In the next five years, Anthony met and fell in love with his wife, Helen Grange, and had a daughter, who they named Melissa. Only to her did he profess his powers, and they both agreed that for the sake of a normal life, he should conceal them.
However, this became impossible when his partner’s life was threatened by a super-powered criminal. In an effort to save his life, Anthony finally used his powers to subdue the dangerous assailant. His partner still lost his left hand, however, but promised to keep Anthony’s secret to the grave. It didn’t matter. The next day, Anthony was contacted by a government agency, calling themselves the “judges”.
The Judges promised Anthony that they would not force him to join the organization, but that he had a unique opportunity to join a group of people pledged to policing to super-powered humans the normal police forces couldn’t touch. Though Anthony was wary at first, the promise of protection lured him around to the Judges way of thinking eventually, and he agreed to work to them. This began a strenuous regimen of testing and training Anthony’s powers and pulling him to his physical peak. Soon after, he was given the callsign “Twist”.
After the training had been completed, the Judge command told him that he would be the first operative in a dangerous, mostly untested environment: Century city. That was two years ago. Melissa is 10 now, and Anthony and Helen are living happily in the suburbs of Century with another baby on the way.
Appearance:
Though Anthony has aged well, He’s never lost some of his rougher temperaments. Outside of his house, he still swears like a sailor, and he never quite manages to shave completely. However, he’s picked up a couple of habits from his FBI days: he’s never without a shoulder-slung sidearm and a belt tazer, and he really likes a well-fit suit, though under it he always wears a light bullet-proof vest. Additionally, he usually wears an earpiece, keeping in contact with the rest of the Judge program, and his standard-issue pair of FBI sunglasses is anything but standard. They have a constant video-feed uplink to the rest of the judge program, and a variety of programs embedded within them allow him to run everything from a head-up-display to a facial recognition system.
Danny Russell (Sundown) by Lyonesse
- Spoiler:
- Name: Danny Russell (Sundown)
Age: 29
Ability: Solar radiation absorption and expulsion. This means that he absorbs ultraviolet electromagnetic radiation primarily from sunlight (although he can supplement it some with black lights) through his skin, which he can store for short periods of time and expel it, usually through his hands, as blasts of heat that can turn into flame if he makes them hot enough to combust things. He can usually keep enough control to keep his clothes or other objects he's touching from being affected, which keeps him from winding up naked after every battle, although accidents have been known to happen. His powers also have the effect of causing his body to glow whenever he uses them, fluorescing beneath his skin and producing an effect similar to when someone shines a flashlight through their hand. As a result of his powers, he's also immune to most radiation, high temperatures and never gets a sunburn. However, his powers drain very quickly, which means he almost constantly needs to renew them or he'll be left defenseless. This means he usually has to spend at least a few hours outside absorbing sunlight, even more if it's cloudy.
Side: Heroes
Bio: Danny was raised in a trailer park in southern Arizona, right on the border of the Sonoran Desert by his father, who was a drunk and a smalltime drug dealer, but he always treated Danny all right. However, when his father began to move on to turning their kitchen into a meth lab, the two of them started to fight more and more often until one day when Danny's father shoved him into some equipment that fell over and started a fire. Although the flames hit Danny straight in the face, he stumbled back unharmed while everything around him began to burn, including his father. Terrified and confused beyond belief, Danny ran off into the desert, his powers activating instinctively and surrounding him in a wide aura of flames and heat the turned the sand around to glass and scorched everything else to ash. The next day he stumbled back into town naked and confused beyond belief. After a neighbor helped him get back on his feet, Danny took off, hitchhiking and working odd jobs across the country before settling in Century City. He started working as a bartender and a bouncer and fell in love.
He was perfectly happy living a quiet life under the radar until drug related crime started picking up in his neighborhood and his girlfriend, Kate, was threatened by them and a young boy was killed in a shootout between two dealers. Pushed to his breaking point and haunted by what had happened in his own life because of drugs, Danny put together a makeshift costume and started burning the dealers out of the neighborhood. His actions, and his powers, scared the crap out of Kate for a while, but she stuck with Danny and even started to encourage him to grow as a hero.
Appearance:
Neutrals
- Spoiler:
- Name: (The Variable) Penny Wilkons
Age: 23
Ability: Penny Wilkons, otherwise known as The Variable, is a shapeshifter. She can take on the (fully clothed) appearance of anyone she’s seen, whether it be in person, in a picture, or even on television. Her abilities are finicky though. While it might be thought that she completely becomes this person, she really only takes on the external, physical characteristics and, even then, only those that she’s actually seen. For example, if she were to take on the form of a hero with telekinesis and super strength, she would look like that person, sound like them, but she would only have super strength. She wouldn’t be able to do anything special with her mind because, as she hasn’t seen their brain, she wouldn’t be able to copy it. This applies to other characteristics as well. If she takes on the form of the telekinetic-super-strength hero but has never seen him use his enhanced strength, she would simply appear as a guy in tights. Additionally, if she’s only seen a guy in tights and a face mask, she can’t appear as ‘John the family man’, his alter-ego, because she hasn’t actually seen his face.
Every time The Variable shapeshifts, she heals completely. Penny also has natural stealth. She’s good at hiding in the shadows, stalking people, and generally sneaking around.
Side: Neutral
Bio: Once a quiet girl, she stuttered and often had moments when she couldn’t force herself to speak at all, Penny served as a doormat for the larger personalities around her. Lost and desperate for companionship, Penny could easily be coerced into doing the frivolous biddings of her childhood horror, Darcy May. Stealing, blackmailing, she did it all because… Because Darcy told her to, and she often took the head of the blame when no one else could be found.
Her life went on that way for years, the aimless wanderings of a follower, until, one day, Penny discovered something. She didn’t need to be pulled around, some kind of living marionette… But she could pull the strings. “No.” She’d finally told Darcy, pushing her back into the line of middle school lockers. “I won’t do it. I’ll tell everyone what you really do in the bathroom if you make me.” Penny had never felt a euphoria quite like the one that washed through her as, eyes wide, Darcy herself stuttered, threw promises at her feet. “Just don’t tell them my secret.” The tables were turned, and Penny never went back. All this time she’d been trying to be their friend when, really, all she’d wanted was control. Throughout high school, and the remainder of primary school, Penny learned how to induce guilt, fear, and pity in those around her. Skilled also at negotiation and charm, she soon had a constant circle of ‘friends’ around her, people she could delude into doing almost anything in the name of ‘friendship’ and past dues. Penny used these people to extract vengeance on any and all who had wronged her, had harassed her, performing a sort of good in her own eyes. But there were always those who didn’t quite understand, who thought themselves too good to be a part of it… Penny knew they all had a price though, something they couldn’t stand to lose, a secret they couldn't bear be made known. She would get them on her side eventually…
And perhaps she would’ve, if she’d had the time, if she hadn’t been so damn hard to catch in the act. But she had been, she always left someone else to blame, a handful of them even, and most adults of any kind of authority couldn’t be bothered to pursue a simple case of ‘teenage drama’ long enough to stumble upon her. Those victimized at her hands, her former persecuters, were more henpecked and desperate than she had ever been. A simple prank, they decided, fireworks in a shed, or something stupid like that. So they lured her there. All hell broke loose. As the fireworks rocketed about, popped and snapping, the shed caught on fire. Penny took several to the face. By the end of the night, the tiny wood shack was ashes on the ground and Penny Wilkons was nowhere in sight. She'd fled town and was assumed dead.
In the depths of that night, her face now a web of burns and scars, Penny discovered something else about herself. Not only had she once been able to control the people around her, in some strange twilight life that now barley seemed to be her own, but she could control herself. Her body. That night, without meaning to, she took on the form of a beautiful passerby. She saw then that, perhaps, she had overdone it. Taken things a thousand steps too far. How else would she have been brought down to this, to stealing someone's face? But how was that possible? She'd asked herself. When I tried to get along with people, I was miserable... Or maybe they were just the wrong people. The people on top, the cruel hearted and righteous. Like I've been... From that moment on, she was no long Penny Wilkons, the former Queen of Century City High. She was The Variable, not good or bad (as both had failed her), but fighting for the underdog no matter what the outcome. She just wished it'd happened sooner, although that's not to say she doesn't still enjoy another's wince of pain...
Appearance:
Penny’s true form is scarred and burnt, but this is how she prefers to appear out of combat. She doesn’t worry about keeping her identity a ‘secret’, all she needs to do is change bodies.
Rebecca DeVries by Lady Despair
- Spoiler:
- Name: Rebecca DeVries
Age: 31
Ability: Rebecca's ability is that of control. Her ability is rather simple. She can direct someone to do what she wants them to do for 30 seconds. If she touches a person she can give them a command and they are forced to do as she commanded them to do. The command must be balanced between simple and precise. For example a one word command such as "run" is simple but leaves up to the person given the command which way they will run. A command to "Fight" would again leave it up to the person touched who they fought. The more descriptive she makes the command the more effective it is but the 30 seconds of command time starts from the second Rebecca first starts giving the command. If she gives a command like "Shoot the man standing on top of the building to the left" the actual act of giving the command can take half of the time she actually has control for if not more.
Once Rebecca has given someone a command she cannot alter it or give the person another command till the 30 seconds are done. Rebecca must be touching to give a command at all. Her commands also cannot cause someone to do something that will result in their certain death. She can't order someone to "stop the very fast car by jumping in front of it" if that would cause the person in question to die. However a command to fight someone will work even if the odds are uneven because death is not something inevitable in that situation. As soon as the 30 seconds are up the person she gave the command too returns to normal and completely regains control of himself/herself.
Side: Neutral
Bio: Rebecca has led a largely normal life despite having an ability that some people would have thought made them a god among man. She had this ability from the time she was little. When she was younger she had used it frivolously getting what she wanted when she wanted it from her parents who were not the smartest of people. They never did figure out that she was taking advantage of them. They just thought they were doing what parents were supposed to do.
She herself also saw nothing wrong with what she was doing. Rebecca used her power for her own gain up until she was midway through high-school. It was during her time at high-school that she made a mistake. What happened wasn't really her fault and was completely unknown as a possibility as her abilities built in control kill prevention didn't take effect. A person she had given a command to had the misfortune to be crossing the street to get her something at the same time a drunk driver ran a red light and crashed into the boy killing him. Though she wasn't really to blame she blamed herself for the boy's death and swore off using her power unless it was needed to save her life.
Rebecca finished school and attended college. During the 10 years immediately after the incident that caused the boy's death she only used her power once. She was attacked by someone who attempted to rape her. She used her power then to allow herself to escape the man. After she had finished college she became a psychologist because although she had sworn off using her ability for anything other than saving herself she was interested in how people's minds worked. And up until a year ago she was content with her life. But enough time has passed for her to begin to wonder if she made the right choice. She remembers how much she enjoyed her life when she made people do what she wanted and help her out all the time. And she has become nostalgic for it.
Appearance:
Parker Moore by Shadow Moonseye
- Spoiler:
- Name: Parker Moore
Age: 27
Ability: Necrosis: Parker has the ability to induce decomposition in inanimate objects. Usually physical contact is needed for the decomposition process to begin, The further along the rotting the longer contact must be maintained. However, during times of extreme stress a “field” of sorts can be projected; anything coming within the decomposes at a rapid rate. Projecting the field is very draining though and will quickly exhaust him if it is maintained for longer than a minute. He can also reverse the decomposition, though doing so requires significantly more effort than causing decomposition.
Parker has a theory that he can also cause necrosis on living tissue; believing that it was locked behind a mental barrier during his stay in Ward 13 of the Merriweather Psychiatric Institute. There is no evidence to support this theory; on a faint memory and the ravings of a psychotic mind.
Side: Neutral
Bio: Parker Moore has never been the most…stable person. Even as a child he had violent fits and episodes; lashing out at other children and destroying mirrors and any reflective surfaces, plagued by horrors that only he could fathom. His parents tried their best to raise him right in those early years, but he showed no signs of improvement.
As the years went on, he discovered his power. It fascinated him. To be able to cause the destruction of things, to hold power over how quickly they rotted, to turn back the tides of time and bring something back to perfection. He thrilled in it, and began to use it to get what he wanted. He grew more and more violent, threatening even his own family members. The last straw came when he grievously wounded his young cousin during a family visit. After much debate it was decided that 15 year old would be sent to the Merriweather Psychiatric Institute; there he would receive professional help and hopefully have a chance of some recovery.
He spent five years there, and showed little signs of recovery. When he turned 20, he went into a fit that was far worse than any that had been witnessed previously. He killed his attendants, and using his powers escaped, the building rotting and collapsing from within. He fled, leaving behind a mess that would take weeks to clean up and even longer for it to be discovered that he was missing.
Two years ago he found his way to Century city, and has been roaming the streets ever since, a trail of havoc left in his wake.

Hey there!
I was part of the old RP and I was wondering if I could join this one up again. I had soo much fun playing my crazy, pedophile, old freak man-thing that I simply must continue! Hopefully there is still room in the villains section?

Dax my old friend. Your creep man may very well be allowed in. I will discuss this with Plague. If you like to make any changes to the character then by all means PM a revised CS.

Squall, just so you know, you misspelled my name; the last a you put in there is supposed to be an e.
Also, this isn't a shameless bump since I'm on topic. >>

Re: We Are One OOC
Oops Sorry Rag. It is fixed. Also I am expecting the last CS in this week end. So we should be getting started this as early as tonight to as late as Monday morning. If anyone involved here has any ideas as to plot twists or endings to this chapter please feel free to pm me or Plague or find us in the chat.
Yes we have already started on the story and yes we already have a few twists in store but we are always looking for others ideas.

Re: We Are One OOC
I will be posting the IC tonight or tomorrow. Before you do post however I must ask for every one to send me a pm or to meet up at the FOG chat to speak with me about their intro post. As well as the storyline as a whole, I would love every ones thoughts on it (excluding big twists of course. Those stay secret) and what they would like their own characters roles to be in it. But remember we may as you to do something else. If it doesn't meet you approval feel free to talk to me or plague. Remember though this is the first chapter. We hope to have 3 parts to this story.
P.S. if for any reason you have to be gone for several days. PLEASE pm me or plague and let us know so we can skip or drag your character along for a few days.

I will post when I post. Which is a funny little statement, because it's really almost written. I need to go to school today, tho (le gasp!), but that's because I have a temporary job as a janitor! (le gasp again!) So yeah, I'll probably post in either my down time during that, or after I get home.

For the sake of not confusing everyone I would say so. But by all means write your own post and have it ready to go when he posts.
Sounds good Buzz and Raptor.

Re: We Are One OOC
So there is a little idea being passed around tonight. And that is to let you all know that I can usually be found in the chat from 4 til 9. If you have any questions, need advice, have a complaint, anything else about the story you can find me there. Make it kind of like a unofficial WAO meeting on the chat room. But fear not I will always send PMs out at major plot points when your character is involved. Till then have fun with the sub plots and don't be afraid of PMing each other with how your characters can meet.

Re: We Are One OOC
Finally got my darn computer... took longer than expected... but I am not getting off this thing until I am finished with my post!
Edit: Posted! Lady, if you find anything you would for me to change, please say so. I also decided to put off Joe's arrival at Charlies for an extra post. I hope you don't mind, Squall.
Edit Edit: I will be gone till next Saturday, so I dont think I will be able to post till then... so I am sorry about my small absence, but I will be back soon!

who's up to post? does anyone mind if I get in a quick post before we languish too much more? I think I could do something on Ragter's warehouse explosion.

If you do, Buzzwolf I could possibly build off of it and maybe even bring our two characters into contact, if only for a little while.

I am terribly sorry I haven't posted. It completely slipped my mind.
I will get it up tomorrow or friday. I would guarantee to get it done tomorrow if I didn't have the driving class plus a practical driving session that will leave me only 2 or 3 hours at home all day.

I know how that is
Post when you get the chance, raptor. I'm not really in a hurry now that I don't have a lot of internet access, and I'm waiting for something from Squalleh anyway.
I'll type up my stuff as quickly as I can in the meantime.

Re: We Are One OOC
Just wanted to say glad to see everyone taking a pro active role in this RP. I should have mentioned that until a major plot point is about to occur that everyone is free to interact with each other. I will post on here or PM everyone when a plot point is coming up and people need to move to a certain area. As of right now I myself am waiting for Dax to post. But I'm confident he'll have a post up soon.
EDIT: PS I sent you that a reply Buzz check your inbox. :-p

Got my post up. It is relatively the same post I put up last IC thread, but I re-did it because I thought it is essential to Joe's character development and showing how... crazy and wierd this guy really is!

Re: We Are One OOC
Looks like a good post buzz; like the details you added to it, which I wasn't able to pt since Hope knew nothing about the guy except what he was doing.
If the blast didn't obliterate her fingerprints, it's likely you'll be able to discover Hope's fingerprints, and from there, find where she's living.
Of course, I have to wait for Raptor before I post.

Re: We Are One OOC
I'm not sure if Raptor was going to post this or not later. But I was just given word that he would be gone for 5 days as well as miss Lady Despair. I have been working quite extensively this week but I should have my own post up later. I do trust Raptor to have a post up as soon as he returns.

I got bored and wanted to post so I made something up for a little action. Anyone can feel free to play off of the fire situation if they'd like, if not, no big deal and I'll wrap it up on my own, but if nothing else, it should serve to put Sundown on Charlie's radar.

Re: We Are One OOC
I might just take you up on that fire offer, if I can think of a convincing enough reason to leave the warehouse. obviously, it's right down the street from the fire in progress...
I might think of something. And Rag, I probably will pursue the fingerprint thing, though it might seem a little bit stretched. in the mean time, I'll get my ducks in a row and wait patiently for Raptor.
