This roleplay will likely begin as our characters are just waking up from stasis. They’re all in one relatively small section of the Cryogenics Zone; The one grid that didn’t completely malfunction. From there, I guess we’ll see where it goes!
Anyway, I suppose it’s just a matter of waiting for character bios now. I’ll continue work on mine, and await your own! Ideas and suggestions, as always, are more than welcome.

The Story

- The A23-Beta has been adrift in space for 15 years, slowly moving towards its target; a new world known only as Planet-B66. Most of the crew has been asleep since departure, cryogenically frozen in time while they await arrival on PB66, but as their destination comes into sight they’re aroused and slowly defrosted. By the time the crew is conscious, they’re already orbiting around the new world.
Cryogenics are not what they were first thought to be though, and the majority of them die quick, painful deaths. They’re killed off by a mixture of seizures, brain death, and heart attacks. The majority of them never even woke up. The four or five who survive, the lucky ones, are left handicapped, mentally or physically, and are vastly ignorant of how to pilot the A23-Beta. Communication with earth is slow, some say it’ll take weeks for their S.O.S. to reach their home world, others say months, the fewest, the pessimists, say it’ll take a year. Regardless, one is sent and now they’re alone. However long it takes for their message to reach someone, it’ll take double the time for them to get something back.
This was no passenger ship though, and while the crew may be ignorant of how to get themselves home, they’re not ignorant. This crew was made up of some of the world’s top Chemists, Physicists, Earth/Life scientists, Medics, and budding GIs. In addition to these more ‘refined’ hands, the A23 also employed, among others, a number of cooks, janitorial staff, and mechanics. In all, their ship was designed to house just over a twohundred people, with a little elbow room. Now that they’re gone, how will those that survive live on?
Will they remain on the ship for up to or over two years, simply orbiting Planet-B66 while they await reply? They probably have the resources for that. After all, the ship was built to be home to over a hundred people. There’s got to be food somewhere on the ship and the water recycling system will provide them with all the H2O they could possibly need. But, with the cryogenics out of wack, there’s no telling what else might’ve gone wrong. The food could be spoiled or the cattle that was supposed to be suspended in time for the last fifteen years could’ve been consuming it all the while. Other things are going wrong too, the oxygen supply, the ship's hull, everything that keeps them alive is in constant jeopardy. On the bright side, there’s likely still a source of fresh vegetables, assuming the Botanists hydraulics system held up. There’s a lot going wrong on the A23Beta, but it must be preferable to anything down there…
But maybe it’s not. Maybe you just want to do what you came here to do, gather some samples, run some tests, unravel the mysteries of this amazing new world. If that’s the case, you’re going to need someone with the expertise to get you down there and to allow you to survive once you’re on the surface. Chances are, this place doesn’t run on oxygen and CO2 like Earth does, despite the apparent abundance of flora, but that won’t be as much of a problem as you might think. Years ago, someone on earth invented the Oxyator, a small face mask capable of converting almost any gas into a breathable source of oxygen. (Just make sure you clean out your tank every three hours, all matter of nasty chemicals can build up in that thing.) That, combined with your standard issue Space Fleet jumpsuit, should keep you safe from any dangerous pathogens… Assuming they work like that here. Who knows, this could be the adventure of a lifetime- of anyone’s lifetime- if you can get the right people to come along.
Of course, it’s possible that not everyone will agree. Fortunately though, you’re in space, this doesn’t have to be a democracy. If the others don’t want to follow you, you’re perfectly capable of battling it out by yourself… Aren’t you? Well, even if you’re not, there’re some pretty powerful weapons on board, I’m sure you can find a way to persuade them otherwise. Besides, with the A23 Beta slowly falling apart, you’ll need to go down their eventually. Unless you think you can fix it, you might as well get a head start, right?
Well, here you are. Five survivors, each a little more lost then they were before and each with something new to deal with. They’ll need to learn how to conquer their bodies, their minds, and their surroundings if they’re planning on living to receive a response from Earth. It’s up to you to chose who they are and what they do from here.
Maybe, together, they'll find their place in space.
Setting
The A23 Beta:

- At the time of departure, 15 years ago, the A23 was a technological wonder. The ship consists of four floors, each about equal to or twice the size of an American football field, and was built as a squarish ring. At the center is whatever fantastic contraption supplies the A23 Beta with gravity. The A23 is harshly lit and built almost entirely from a single, bluish gray metal.
First Floor: The bottom floor is dedicated to the more technical aspects of the A23, such as the Oxygen Suppliers, Water Systems, and Recycling Center. Storage rooms and the Cattling Living Area (Where live stock and several other animals were supposed to have been kept in stasis to use as live test subjects later on in the voyage.) are also found here, along with the docking bay. This is the only way on or off the A23 Beta and contains four ExplorerCrafts capable to descending to and traveling across Planet B66’s surface. Finally, there’s the Cryogenics Zone. This is where the crew will wake up, permanently altered, surrounded by their dead or dying colleagues, and fifteen years from home. All in all, this is the largest floor.
Second Floor: The second floor of the A23 is completely dedicated to the sciences. It contains several labs, a wide range of research tools, and a functioning greenhouse (For study, leisure, and CO2 reduction). Other points of interest are the Clinic, a decent sized area that was originally to be staffed by several highly trained physicians, and the Computerized Sciences Library. Here, almost any research paper, text book, or study man has ever written (up until fifteen years ago) can be accessed through several flat screen computers. This floor is also home to a quarantine zone, a small, sterile room to be used in the case of otherworldly disease. It locks from the outside though, so I’m sure you’ll be able to come up with at least one other thing to do with it…
Third Floor: Second in size only to the first floor, the third is an entire community packed into a relatively small space. It includes a gym, a box-like cafeteria, and a combination common room/library. The latter area, unlike the computerized selection on the second floor, consists entirely of hard copies of current and past literature. The dormitories, of which there are twenty-five, are fairly large (10ft by 10ft), but only because they’re designed to hold eight people each. Though these areas are a bit more hospitable than other parts of the ship, they were still built to last. Blue-grey metal abounds, bolts and screws dot the walls, and large overhead lights wash entire rooms in unforgiving white light for most of the ‘day’.
Fourth Floor(Controls): Despite being the smallest, this floor contains the very heart of the ship; the control center. This is where all piloting, navigation, and outside communication occurs (Or, would’ve occurred). The pilots and other top officials’ private quarter can be found here, along with the only spot on board where you can see the stars. The viewing deck, a small glass room that branches off and above the third floor.
Planet B66

- From what’s been gathered by scientists of earth, the ships onboard computer, and our characters own naked eye observations, B66 consists of a mixture of dense to open jungle and dry desert. Because of the foliage, or what appears to be foliage, it is assumed that a source of water will also be found on PB. If the plants even work that way.
As mentioned, the terrain is mainly jungle and desert but, mixed among this, are many small, black pits. No one has been able to identify these thus far, though they appear too deep to be craters like the ones on the moon or mars, and no one has really been able to determine how they might’ve been made.
PB has no moons and a relatively simple weather pattern. During the day, which lasts only five hours, PB’s climate is blisteringly hot to humid. At night, the seventeen hours spent in near complete darkness, soulless storms are intermingled with short moments of clear skies and apparent calm. The four remaining hours are split into two nearly instantaneous transitions between the hot and stormy periods.
At this point, it’s impossible to know much else about B66. Most anything on it could be dangerous; or harmless. Of course, the only real way to find out is to go down there and take a look for yourself. If the risk is worth the knowledge that is.

Can I still claim a spot, or will you need my completed sheet first? =) I've got name, age, and description entirely written out already; profession and education, I have outlined but just need to put in a coherent form. I just need to work through history and personality.
Edit: Everything except history and personality is written. I'm just having huge issues writing both remaining sections; history, because I've included so much of it in other parts of the profile, and personality, because I always have a hard time writing it all out in sheet form.

Description: Leanne is tall yet skinny, standing around 5'8" and weighing in (last she checked; she's so forgetful about these things sometimes) around 125 pounds. Keeping her frame shaped enough to be able to bend and twist into the strangest places (required of her by her job, especially back when she was still apprenticing) is, thankfully, not so difficult due to a fast metabolism (and the occasional moment of forgetfulness when she's fixing something).
Leanne's clothing style is one that leans on the tighter side (because she doesn't want baggy clothing catching on anything while she's working), yet still remains as comfortable as she can make it. Her legs are usually covered by jeans (which are in turn covered in at least one belt filled with various tools), but her arms sometimes remain out in the open when she rolls up the sleeves of whatever t-shirt she decides to throw on. Her hands usually sport a pair of industrial working gloves, which hang off one of her belts whenever she isn't wearing them, clipped securely on (she goes nowhere without them). One of the few personal touches to her outfit is a slightly worn bandanna, which more often than not ends up around her neck rather than on top of her fiery red hair.
Leanne has made several attempts at keeping her hair orderly, one of the most recent including cutting its length to where the longest bits barely skim the top of her shoulders. What can reach is sometimes put up into a ponytail, but the un-layered nature of her hair tends to make it stick out in all sorts of directions, so she leaves that as a last resort. No matter how badly she tries to keep it in line, however, a few sections often end up hanging in front of her face, especially while she's working. It also isn't uncommon to see her tucking said sections back behind her ear in a vain attempt to keep them out of the way.
To go along with the red hair, Leanne's eyes are a bright shade of emerald. Her pale skin is yet another tribute to her Scottish heritage, and the same goes for the faint dash of freckles across the bridge of her nose.
Profession and Education/Training(if any): Leanne graduated school at 18 with a high school diploma and a degree in self-taught tinkering. Rather than bother with college, she managed to get accepted into an internship, or apprenticeship as she liked to think of it, with a middle-class repair team. After a year and a half of running errands and scouring messy workshops for specific tools, she was finally initiated as a member of the crew, and she lasted at that level until she turned 21. It was then that she heard of a higher-classed team who was looking for another crew member. She threw out a few investigative lines and received a bite a couple of weeks later, to her delight. She was with that team for two years, until the irresistible temptation of the A23 Beta.
History: The burst of joy that comes from every job well done. The look of happiness on her mother’s face whenever she comes to visit. …The feeling of sadness that came from the times when her brother, at his most stressed, would jerk his arm away and walk off. The utter despair that she fell into when her father passed away.
Leanne threw herself even harder into her work after her father died, at first refusing to talk about the reasons behind his death or acknowledging anyone when they tried to make her feel better. Over time, she dealt with her grief in her own way and returned to normal, but she still doesn’t like to talk about it. Her mother’s illness was another kick in the gut of her emotions when it first began to show that it was more than a simple disease, but rather than spiral back down into the sea of emotions she felt with her father’s passing, she threw on a smile and acted as though everything was normal, though she once again worked even harder. One of the main reasons Leanne chose to join the crew of the A23 was to help pay for her mother’s treatment – before boarding, she had worked out a deal with the people in charge to send all of the money home to her family. The other reason? The idea of working on the advanced technology that the A23 had to offer.
Personality: Doesn’t enjoy long lengths of “unnecessary” group interaction. Dislikes idle gossip and chatter, though often rambles when others are around while she’s working or when nervous. When alone while working, she often ends up humming or whistling without realizing it.
Doesn’t care much about “prettying herself up”, especially since she’ll just get dirty again later when she has to fix something. Tends to throw herself into her work, wanting to do the best job possible so that everyone, herself included, is satisfied with the end result. Often forgetful when it comes to things like eating and sleeping while trying to fix something. Enjoys long showers after the day is done, and uses them as a way of relaxing.
Considers herself to have a great logical mind, and deals with problems with a “how can I fix this?” attitude. Doesn’t often cry, at least not in public, and while she’s willing to talk about her past if the conversation comes up, likely won’t mention that part of the reason she tried so hard for a position on the A23 is because her mother is ill and needs the money for treatment. Rarely talks about her family at all, in fact, and often attempts to change the subject if the topic does come up and questions are directed her way.
Is a good listener when you can catch her not working or heading off to fix something. Is very good with even the smallest of details, and if she gives you her attention, she’s not likely to miss much of what you’ve said.
Fears, weaknesses, and other traits to be addressed if and when they come up, but at the very least, Leanne is not afraid of standard things such as cramped spaces or spiders thanks to the nature of her work.
Who They Left Behind: Mother (51) and older brother (27). Leanne has always been very close to her mother, and has grown even more so since her mother was diagnosed with what looked to be a high-strung type of cancer. That same diagnosis put a bit of a strain on her relationship with her older brother, if only because his workload doubled as he attempted to work enough to pay for their mother’s visits to the hospital.
Handicap(If not included above): A mechanic’s nightmare, Leanne wakes up to find that her right arm, from the shoulder to the tips of her fingers, is completely paralyzed. If not for the fact that she could see it, she would hardly be able to believe it was still attached to her body.
