Hay Everyone!
Hay y'all!
I'm Casey Jewels, best friends with Shadow Moonseye and Plaguewalker.
I've been writing for about eight years now, and RPing for three. I love fantasy, though I do dabble in other genres. I plan on writing for a living, and have the first draft of a fantasy novel finished.
I've participated in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) for three years, and have reached the goal of 50,000 words on the last day for each year. NaNoWriMo got me through the first half on my finished first draft.
I love werewolves (not the shapeshifters in Twilight), and thus two of my favorite OCs of mine are werewolves. My favorite OC of mine, though, is the character who shares my username--Casey Jewels. She's a hotheaded teen who is constantly getting herself into trouble.
When not working on novels, I tend to write short stories, many of which are what I call 'RP shorts'. I've only been in one RP that has finished, and so I'm often left with unanswered questions dealing with my characters, which then inspires the RP shorts.
And... I think I've rambled on long enough.
I am a college student, so I'm not sure how active I'm going to be yet. My homework load is heavier than my first semester.
Oh, and you can find me on dA: http://caseyjewels.deviantart.com/

SALLY.
I COME FOR YOUR SOUL!
But in all seriousness(although I totally dibs your soul) Welcome to Fog! You finally bit the bucket! S'about time...should have nagged you about it more. -.-
Should go on chat sometime. It's the best way to get to know people, well at least those who frequent it. Sometimes it's alittle dead, but if you stick around in it, you'll see some crazy stuff! And some not so pleasent stuff...*shudders*
Anywho, enjoy your stay, and get in some RPs! Now!
-Plaguewalker
PS - Why aren't you in any RPs yet?! It's been 0.3 seconds since I told you!

CASEY!
*pounces*
You finally joined! *coughs* Well now, I think I'll get onto the official welcome now.
Welcome to FOG!
I'm sure Hermes will be around here anytime to drop you some helpful links and such, so I won't steal her spotlight. However! I shall give you some suggestions!
Our OOC boards are a great place to get to know your fellow foggers. Play some forum games, show a picture of yourself, show off your awesome writings and graphics; you can even start your own blog!
Take a look in the interest checks to see if there are any rps you might possibly be joining, and if you feel up to it, maybe even pitch an idea or two of your own.
And the chat. Check out the chat, as its fun and lively at times. It's a silly place talk to your fellow foggers in real time!
So...I'll stop blathering. Welcome again! I hope you enjoy your stay here in the swirling mists!

Re: Hay Everyone!
You're doing it wrong, you guys. I mean, really? I'm supposed to chew on the soul a bit first, and THEN you all can steal it. Come on, you all know better; let's be efficient about this. ^^ Before you get to SoulEating, you have to steal it first, obviously, I grant you that, but you can't break procedure; not fair to everyone else. SoulScaring comes first -- a long process that can take months, then SoulBiting -- which is where I come in, then SoulSucking, which leads to SoulStealing, which soul is then delivered for the SoulEating. See? We set all this up beforehand for a reason. Get it right. >)
...oh uh, hello there, little lost soul. We weren't, uh, talking about you just now.
WELCOME!

Re: Hay Everyone!
Welcome to FoG, Casey.
Judging by your icon, we already have something in common. I'm a complete Avatard... even more than I'm a Trekkie... I'm quite obsessed with Avatar: The Last Airbender, and I like to think I have a lot of knowledge pertaining to the show, even things that weren't really expressed in the show.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy your stay. ^^_^^

I look forward to seeing you around FOG.
Oh, and you don't have to worry about me stealing your soul. I'll just corrupt it.

Re: Hay Everyone!
Once again, thanks everyone for all the welcomes!
And, as it's already been pointed out, I am an Avatar fan (not the blue people), and am super excited for the movie coming out in July.
I also love Oban: Star Racers, Last Exile (or what I've seen so far), Naruto, and Digimon (Seaon 2, because Ken is amazing). If you haven't guessed from all that, I love anime.
I love fantasy, and my favorite authors are Brian Jacques, Anne McCaffery, David Eddings, and John Flanagan.
My favorite genre of music is country (born and raised on it), but I also love gothic metal, such as Within Temptation. I'm pretty open to all types of music, except rap and screamo.
And... I love rats. My last rat got sick and died, though, and I can't get a new one until I'm done with college, because animals aren't allowed here and it doesn't make sense to get a new pet when only 1/3 of my year is spent at home... My dog gets depressed enough with me being gone.
I think that pretty well sums up my interests.

Re: Hay Everyone!
Oooh, Withing Temptation is great. I just made a new play list with them the other day.
I also like a lot of anime and manga mainly: Ouran High School Host Club, Black Lagoon, Chobits, Love Hina, Fruits Basket and manga - Alice 19th. Well I love a lot more animes and mangas, but those where the ones that came to mind now.
Ah David Eddings and Leigh Eddings (since he and his wife actually wrote it together)! My favorite is the Redemption of Althalus. And the Elenium comes second. I read a lot of different fantasy authors: Terry Goodkind, Tamora Pierce, Christopher Paolini, Robert Jordan and Jim Butcher. Urban fantasy: Patricia Briggs, Kelley Armstrong and Jennifer Rardin. And many more.
So errmmm sorry for the ramble of my interest, but I saw we had similar ones!

Re: Hay Everyone!
Casey, I'm really excited - and nervous - about the new movie. My best friend and I are dragging our lovers to it on a double date. XD Of course, we were going to see the midnight showing if they have one, but I have to grab my boyfriend from the airport around that time, so it wouldn't work.
I've never seen any of the anime series you've listed, but I'm sure I'll see them eventually. My lover is a big anime fan, and he's been steadily getting me into more series. The last one I saw was Ouran High School Host Club, and I thought it was hilarious. =3
I've never read anything by any of those authors, but I love to read. Are there any books by them that are either stand-alones or have four or less books to a series?
I love all kinds of music, too, and I have found a few rap songs I've liked. I haven't found any tolerable screamo, but I'm always open to all kinds of music for enjoyment. I also like Within Temptation, but I've only heard what's on their Silent Force CD because my boyfriend bought me that CD, and that's how I got into them. =3
I'm sure if The Melancholy Spirit sees that you like them, he'll introduce you to a whole host of other bands of the same or similar genres. He's given me links to a bunch of really great songs, and he's even introduced me to new genres. He's basically FoG's resident music brain.

On the nature of souls since I saw it mentioned. I will make deals and sell nearly anything. Of course afterwards I eat your soul and then you after 30 years or death, whichever comes first.

Re: Hay Everyone!
All right, I saw that you listed Anne McCaffery as a favorite author, Casey. I have only read the first "trilogy" of her Dragonriders of Pern books, but they are some of my favorites.
Also, we dislike the same genres of music, ha I was also raised listening to Country music, but I have to be honest and say that I dislike most of the stuff that airs anymore. A lot of the newer artists just don't impress me, and I get sick of listening to the same two or three dozen songs every time the radio is on. I'm exaggerating, of course, but it just doesn't seem like there is any variety.
Anyways, welcome to FOG!

Re: Hay Everyone!
@Miss Dagger
I've only really started watching anime in the past few years, and my mom doesn't really like it (and this is with her only seeing really, really mild stuff. She'd flip if she ever saw Naruto or anything like that). I've seen Oban: Star-Racers, Naruto, some of Naruto: Shippunden, Full Metal Alchemist, Death Note, Inuysasha (including The Final Act), and I'm working my way through Last Exile right now (and I've discovered with that one that I like steampunk). Oh, and I did watch Pokemon and Digimon when I was younger, and I want to get back into them again, rewatch what I've seen and watch the newer stuff.
With David Eddings (and his wife), I've read their Belgariad and Malloreon series, as well as Belgarath the Sorcerer (my favorite) and Polgara the Sorceress (my least favorite).
@Kathryn Lacey
Yeah, I'm slightly nervous about how the movie will turn out as well, because of various things, but I can't wait to see it. Why boycott a movie when you don't know if it will be good or not, just because it's not exactly how you want it to be?
I haven't seen Ouran High School Host Club, as can be seen from it not appearing in my list above. It's on my list of animes to check out. Oban: Star-Racers is actually my favorite anime ever and was on the Disney channel about the same time Avatar showed up on Nickolodeon (at least, that's about the time I noticed them both). The ending does slightly bother me, but not enough to spoil the show. They easily could have done a second season, if they had wanted to take things that direction. It's a French/Japanese anime.
Brian Jacques has two series, Redwall, and Castaways of the Flying Dutchman. You can pick up any Redwall book, read it, and have it make perfect sense. Castaways can be read separately too, I believe, but they were made to read in order (there's three of them, at the moment). I think that Anne McCaffery has some standalones, but I'm not really sure. I just know that she has a ton of books. With David Eddings and John Flanagan, all I've read from them are series or attached to a series.
I've find some bands similar to Within Temptation, like Nightwish and Plumb, but I'm always open to suggestions.
@SpaceWheeler
I've read probably a third of her Dragon Riders of Pern series, and the majority of her Acorna series (which I like better).
And I know what you mean about the music. Country music isn't country music anymore. In fact, Alan Jackson, George Strait, and Jimmy Buffet sang a song called 'Murder on Music Row' a few years back, all about how country music was being "murdered".

Re: Hay Everyone!
Casey, I'm actually encouraging as many people as possible to see it. I like Shyamalan's other movies, I'm mostly worried because this is a children's movie, and his last attempt at that demographic failed - even though I unexpectedly enjoyed that movie, but it wasn't a children's movie...
Anyway, I hope that even if I dislike it that he's able to get the funding to create the next two because I would hate to see something so promising go unfinished.
I'll have to check out those books. I will probably feel the need to read them in order even if they would make sense separately. Often, even in such books, there are references to previous ones that though small, would bother me if I didn't understand them. =3

Re: Hay Everyone!
David And Leigh Eddings only have quartets or smaller, although the same world can have two series or so in it. Redemption of Althalus is a stand alone and Elenium is a thrilogy. There is a seond series in the Elenium world, but it wasn't as good and I haven't reread it yet so I don't remember much of it.
Funny. I really liked Polgara the Sorceress while I thought Belgarath was too long and winding. But then opinions differ.
I've read like 7 books of Death Note, it's good. I read more manga than I watch anime. I've always been more of reader than watcher. I have actually watch most of Fullmetal Alchemist, but I'm going to watch again when they are finished with the one that actually follow the manga, since my friends says it's better.
Have you seen Rurouni Kenshin (might have misspelled it)? It's really good.
