Fondest Greetings To You All
Good afternoon everyone! I have been searching long and hard to find a site like this, and I believe I found a true gem in the massive amount of content that is the internet. My name is Emily and I write to you from Phoenix, Arizona. I have a desire and passion to write and share stories with people, friends, and hope that while I'm here... I'll find that and make many new friendships. A brief history for you, I have a college degree in art (Graphic Design) but I truly love writing and creating fantastic stories of all kinds. I have had a poem published, nothing too special but something I am proud of nonetheless. I am in the middle of a complete career change and even though I am thirty years old, I live with my parents, my boyfriend of four years, and our dog Skye (named for beautiful isles of Scotland)
Please feel free to contact me, I would love to get to know you and embark on new and exciting adventures in writing and design. Have a wonderful day!

Welcome to FoG, Daandai!
I'm glad you think so highly of FoG. It really is a great place. Lately, we've been getting a lot of younger members, so it's nice to know that FoG still appeals to those a little older, too.
I think it's great that you have a published poem. I would ask what it's called, but I don't want to seem stalker-y.
Do you like living in Phoenix? I was born there, but I moved away when I was six until I was thirteen. I moved away again at fourteen, but the experience opened my eyes. I hated it there, but I lived in a poor area, so I'm sure that didn't help.
It's no so bad that you're living with your parents at thirty. My mom and her husband lived with my grandma for a while until they could get back onto their own feet, and my lover's best friend who is twenty-nine is currently living with his wife's parents until they can get their own place.
I hope you enjoy your stay. ^^_^^

Hermes, you ninja! Here I was thinking I was going to beat you to the welcoming, but in the time it took me to retrieve the link for the welcome image, you posted! [Sulks.]
Oh well, I can still do this!:
Welcome to Footsteps of Ghosts, Emily! It's good to have you on board. We've become quite the little hive of literary prowess lately, and bolstering our ranks with another writer of considerable talent is always a blessing. I look forward to seeing your work, both writing and art should we be so lucky as to witness the latter!
It's great that you've found a happy place in life. Hopefully that will allow you the focus and motivation to crank out some great writing here on the boards! Feel free to peruse the existing roleplays, roll through the General Discussion boards or check out the IRC chat room by clicking the link in the navigation bar at the top of the page! Either of those should give you a decent look into how we do things around here and can provide you with a chance to meet and greet with some of the old ghosties!
Have fun!

Re: Fondest Greetings To You All
Thank you for the kind welcoming. Kathryn, I will have to find the publisher and title for you... but it was a poem more or less about "love". It was a small collection of poetry that was assembled by many contributing writers and chosen for that specific publication...but I always found it interesting that my poem was published and there was once a well named poet with the exact same name: Emily Ann Lawless.
As for Phoenix, I love the hustle and bustle of the city. I have been here 29 of my 30 years, the other was spent in Rolla, Missouri to be with my boyfriend while he attended school. Much too cold for me during the winter. I'm a typical "desert rat", gifted with the tolerance of our summer temperatures.

Re: Fondest Greetings To You All
I've actually never heard of Emily Ann Lawless the "famous" poet. Then again, I'm far better with prose than with poetry, so it's not too much of a surprise though I'd love to read the poem that you wrote.
I live in Iowa, and while I hate cold winters and I hate the muggy heat of summer, I love the springs and autumns here. I like that Arizona only has dry heat, but dry air isn't all that great for my skin anyway ((due to eczema)).
There was always a lot to do in Phoenix, but I had bad experiences with men trying to get me into their cars, and one particularly smelly, drunk homeless man hugged me and invited me to a drug party... It wasn't fun, and I wouldn't want to raise kids there if I ever have them. Not that I really want kids... but my biological clock may start ticking eventually...

Re: Fondest Greetings To You All
Well, I'm in the same house/neighborhood that I was born in, and though all my childhood friends have moved on, there is still a bit of charm to it. We're right off the 51, not far from Central Phoenix, a hop/skip/jump from malls, shops, nice places to eat and of course there's always... downtown.
Tomorrow I plan to see Alice in Wonderland with my family at the 3D IMAX. I loved the book when I was a child, I'm a big Disney fan so I loved the movie, but this is more of a... new adventure in Wonderland and not the same representation we might remember.

Re: Fondest Greetings To You All
I don't really remember where I lived. I just know it wasn't too far from Edupreneurship Phoenix which is where I went to school for the year that I lived there as a teen... That school was such a load of crap, and I learned very little, but there were good people there.
I've never really read the books even though I have both, but I've seen the Disney movie version. I'm excited for Tim Burton's even if it doesn't seem to have a lot of praise as far as the story itself goes.

Re: Fondest Greetings To You All
Tim Burton is a bizarre mastermind, and many say this who have worked for him for many years. This was sort of tender territory as it is Alice's coming-of-age, a desire to understand who she is in a world that is so corrupt of sense that it'd be difficult for anyone to realize who they truly are. Her friends need her help and she is brought back to the world she experienced as a child. It's pretty intriguing when you think about it. We shall see...
Re: Fondest Greetings To You All
Welcome to FoG! If you are looking for a place to practice writing then you have come to the right spot. We have a lot of good writers running around here and soon you will fit right in. I usually hang around the goof off section (Forum games) which is a neat place to get to know your fellow FoGers. Anyway I hope to see you around.

Re: Fondest Greetings To You All
Yes, I know this is even more belated than Kalon's welcome. No, it does not mean that I will skip you.
Welcome to FoG, Daandae! I'm sure you've had enough time to adjust to this site by now, so I'll spare you from the usual "I'm sure you'll fit in fine" and just say that I hope you're enjoying your stay with us thus far and that you continue to do so in the future!
Oh, and I would love to see pictures of your dog Skye! We have a thread for pet pictures in the General Discussion Forum if you were ever interested in posting a few up, or even if you were simply wanting to check out our own pets. Unless you've already done so... in that case, great!
