Get to know your fellow FoGer! - Page 31 Empty Re: Get to know your fellow FoGer!

You know the first episode of the DMC anime where Dante hits his desk to make the phone fly into his hand...That's the one, I want to learn how he did that cause I've been trying forever to figure out how to do it. So far all I've got to show for my efforts is three busted desks and two broken phones.

Same Question.

I'd live during the Silmarillion, during a time where deeds were grand and an individual could shape the world to come.

How do you like to sleep? (Side, stomach, back, pillow over head, etc)

Do you mean what my world is like when I sleep or literally the world I would love most to live in. As to the first I don't know, haven't had a dream in years...at least not one I can remember. The second is easy, I happen to like the world as it is, if for nothing else because it is our world. And we can change if we all get together, we could creat paradise if we all weren't so bloody....well human to be honest.

What is your MO when it comes to Chinese food? i.e what do you order and all that good stuff.

I honestly prefer Tai over Chinese and the two are very similar. When it comes to Chinese though I pretty much order Chao Main and Orange Chicken. I've experimented with other Chinese food, but I really didn't like most of it. Their seafood is pretty great though.

I really don't think I have a technique to stay awake, I just do. I usually have to force myself to sleep to be honest as I have never felt exhausted enough to just fall asleep.

What do you find most enjoyable, what recharges your spiritual batteries so to speak?

Oddly enough sleep. Well sometimes I'll have days where I do nothing because I start to overwork myself and usually I just watch movies or something, but the same time if I do nothing for too long I start to get crabby and pissy. I've had many days where I was just angry and then I go and draw or write something and the day is instantly better.... So I guess depending on the day and how I feel....everything recharges my batteries.

Same question.

In the end as you Skitz. Everything charges the batteries. But I would say music and working out charge them better than others. With good ol manual labor being behind those two. People seem to not appreciate the burning sensation of muscles pushed to and beyond the limit as much as they should.

Driving my Evo VIII MR fast and hard is what recharges my batteries. There is nothing like the almost out of control feeling of drifting to make me feel alive. Right behind that is a good sparring session, especially if my partner is good.

Black keyboards as well, same reason pretty much. I'll also toss in that white ones get dirty much easier (or at least seem much dirtier). So yeah, black.

My personal greatest achievement, well I think it's my 71 Charger R/Ts. This thing is a work of art that has taken me many years to get right. I started building it when I was 15 and my dad was still alive. After his funeral though it stayed in storage till I was 20. Then I brought it out and got to work on it. 3 years and a shit load of work and parts later it is 1400 hp of barely controlled fury. I am JDM to the core but American muscle was what my dad preferred. So I like to think of this car as my tribute to his memory, it rules the drag strip, also my dad's preferred arena. Every time I drive it I like to think he's beside me smiling.

My personal, greatest achievement? Learning to love....I suppose. I did not want what I have, probably because I was afraid of it. I am still not sure what I saw (other than a pretty face, obviously), but instead of turning tail and running as fast as I could... I jumped into it feet first.

Who is your greatest inspiration for what not to be?

This may sound pretentious but .... everyone. I pretty much hate and have a problem with everyone I come in contact with and I strive not to do the little things they do that make me dislike them. Hell even people I like have issues I'd rather be without so.... yeah..... everyone.

Your right Skitzo that did sound pretentious, you should never judge a book until your at least halfway through it.

I really don't have an answer to that though, I don't even remember any dreams let alone one that inspired me. I either don't dream at all or just don't plain remember them.

Get to know your fellow FoGer! - Page 31 Empty Re: Get to know your fellow FoGer!

Post by Blackrock Thu Apr 21, 2011 2:54 am

Forgiving, without a doubt. I'm firmly set in my beliefs and headstrong, something which has caused me problems more times than I can count, yet I'd never go without this trait of mine. At any rate, once I've stepped on someone's toes thanks to that quality, I never look back and even people who were outright "no fuck you, you're wrong" come back to ME, not the other way around. Then I'm usually faced with either giving them the finger (so to speak) or being a nice guy and shaking hands. Most of the time I usually forgive such people, for the sake of the company we're in (it sucks to be out somewhere and having two people who can't stay in the same room with each other), but I loathe myself every time I do so.

I never forget though, as cliched as that sounds, once a person has lost their trust in my eyes...it's pretty much over. I may talk to them and act friendly even, again for the sake of society and its crappy morals, but I'd rather not have anything to do with such people.

Same question, as I think it's pretty interesting: What is the thing you least like to do but do it any way. Either for formalities sake or because your just tired of auguring with people.

I fear I'm like you, Blackrock, only for me, it's admitting I'm wrong. I just cannot say I'm sorry.

But for the sake of this debate, I'd say going out with my friends when I KNOW they'll have their kids along. I'm not a fan of children and uncontrolled children even less. So I tend to avoid social situations more often than not with them and that makes me mad. Selfish as it sounds, I didn't have the children, why should I be penalized?

Lets turn that around; what thing do you love doing but avoid for the sake of social convention or plain politeness?

(Amusingly this was my answer to the question before.... but Digi beat me to it.)

Stating my opinion/Debating. Despite my desire to be open with everyone and correct someone I think is wrong, I'm rarely in the mood for a full on debate or the anger that will follow the conversation once I voice my opinion. Oddly enough though I learn a lot easier through a proper debate more than I do any other form of learning.

A good example would be Sunday when my dad had the "You need to go back to church" lecture. He said a lot of things I had a problem with most of them involving the "Going to church a certain # of times = a stronger relationship with God." Which is something I easily disagree with, but for the sake of the fact that it was morning and I was tired and didn't want to deal with the 'OMG she's going to hell' looks and the anger I just smiled and nodded through the conversation. I hate the fact that he went away feeling he made a good point to me, but really I just didn't want to deal with the effort.

When you read a book, watch a movie/tv show, or play a video game in terms of the story alone what do in the creation process is the most important thing to you and why? (ie. characters, setting, plot, etc.)

I am really more of a bigger picture kinda of guy. It all has to work and work well, the settings have to suit the characters, the plot has to be believable. If it all does not work in harmony then it does not work, for it is all important.

Get to know your fellow FoGer! - Page 31 Empty Re: Get to know your fellow FoGer!

Post by Blackrock Sat Apr 23, 2011 3:10 am

It really depends on what idea the author is trying to pass (most important in books, obviously), that is usually the deciding factor for me. As as original as a plot may look, let's face it - someone, somewhere has already done it. The "7 basic plots" theory expands on this further and I'm pretty much inclined to agree. However, for the sake of discussion I'll go with characters.

As I said above, plot isn't unique (in a broad sense of course) and the settings are, likewise, mostly the same. So what better way than characters to tie it all together and make something new? And, vice versa, doesn't it suck when even the most suspense-filled plot gets screwed by poorly written/played characters?

So yeah, I firmly go with characters on this. Not to mention that, in books especially, characters really are unique. Each author pours a part of their own personality in there, whether the more obvious traits or those deeply suppressed in the recesses of their mind. So even a cliched plot can be viewed and experienced differently, after it's been refracted through the character's own view-point.

Without going into too much detail (if you so wish), what is your greatest mistake up to this point in your life?

Please don't tell me that liking the suicide girl look is your 'dark desire'. Even I'll admit those girls are rather hot. Hell used one for a character sheet actually. Anyway, I guess my dark desire.... would be more so a wish to torture people without consequence. Granted they'd have to deserve it but believe me there are a great deal of people in this world I would love to torture in hopes that they'd learn a lesson. I guess that would be the inner dominatrix in me though.... though gimps like that kind of torture. >.>

My dark desire isn't the suicide girl look Skitzo, it's the hedonistic sadism I so cherish. Although really who doesn't fall into that category at least once in their life.

But back to the matter at hand. I suppose not really all that often, I like the way it was organized when I moved in( the house came fully furnished).

What is the single thing you cherish the most?

Get to know your fellow FoGer! - Page 31 Empty Re: Get to know your fellow FoGer!

Post by The Calamity Mon May 09, 2011 5:56 pm

If I could change/have one thing in the World other than the aforementioned restricted things I would have to say that I would want to have all the strength and abilities bestowed on Dragonball Z's Goku by the end of Season 9. Why is this? Because then perhaps something positive could come out of this terrible World we live in.

"Hey, Pakistan! Stop harboring terrorists!"

"Hey, America! Stop producing children that find Justin Beiber and Jersey Shore acceptable!"

Then, when they fail to comply. I would get crazy and find the television cameras with my Kamekame Wave in hand. Or something like that...I'm don't know what. I've always wanted to be like a Saiyan or something crazy.

Now, I was cleaning off my deck today and stumbled upon a walking stick I have had for probably decade now. A sturdy little tree that I had skinned, apparently burned and stabbed over the years. I picked it up and instantly felt a feeling of nostalgia as the remnants of memories past spent LARPing before I knew what LARPing even was.

The question I pose to the next poster is this, is there an object of some sort, regardless of how strange that upon contact instills a sense of creativity in your mind? Perhaps a mental or in my case, a nostalgic focus of some sort..._
