Salut Toujour
Hello, all. My name is Whitney, but, out of preference, you can call me Whit. Or Yen, if that's easier.
Aside from my own forum, I'm trying to find a new roleplaying home, since it's going to take awhile before my own forum gets anywhere. I've been roleplaying for quite some time. I'm 18 now, and I've been roleplaying since I was 12. So, I consider myself anything but a beginner. I'm quite flexible when it comes to genres and situations, so if you're in need of another roleplayer, feel free to ask.
I hope I can get a bit more involved here than I have on other boards, and I hope to become friends with at least a few of you. Hope to roleplay with you soon.

Re: Salut Toujour
Welcome to FoG, Whit.
FoG is a really good role play board for veterans like us ((I've been role playing since I was eleven, so I have nine years under my belt.)). This is also a good place for people who want to improve their skills as role players or for those who just generally want to have fun.
I hope you find some good role plays to join or to create, and I hope you enjoy your stay.

Merci :3
Forgive me if I'm a bit hesitant for a bit about joining roleplays myself. I may make one or two that I double on my own site, but it'll take me a bit to start joining them, since I know not a soul here.

Re: Salut Toujour
Actually, one of the good things about FoG is that we don't only role play with people we know. We don't form cliques and such. We try to maintain an open community where everyone has the opportunity to role play with and to get to know everyone else in time.
Honestly, the majority of people with whom I've role played aren't people with whom I've played before that point.
Of course, if you want to take the time to get to know people in the OoC and make your own game to have others join, that's all well and good, too. Everyone's different. ^^_^^

That's good. That seems fine and dandy, then. I'll try my best to get involved. Introductions always seem so odd when it comes to new forums :/

Yeah. I know what you mean. I'm glad that I got settled into this one when it was still nice and new, so I've been able to try to make it seem less awkward for newcomers. I don't know that I do such a great job, but I do what I can. heheh

Well, you've done a fine job so far. Hell, I'm glad I got a welcome at all. The last few forums I've tried I had to practically force myself known. It's an immediate turn off.

Re: Salut Toujour
Well, I think after a few days, you'll have more welcomes. I'm not the only person who rides on FoG's welcome wagon. I have this forum added to my email notifications, so I tend to know right away when there are new people. heheh
Anyway, you won't have to worry about forcing your way into the community. Just feel free to join any role plays that seem interesting, and place your opinions and insight and general thoughts in the OoC threads. There are also art and writing forums if you want to show us your stuff. ^^_^^

Thank you, very much. I just may, once I get my hands on a working scanner. I think I'm going to enjoy myself here.

*Does a double take at the location.*
Oklahoma? I'm actually in my last semester at Oklahoma State University. How did you like this snow storm we got hit with?

Re: Salut Toujour
Well how do you like that?
I for one, do not like snow. It means I'm stuck in the house. And it's cold. I don't get along with cold. I miss the summer already.
Honestly, all this snow we've been getting is fairly strange. You'd think we're too far south for so much of it. It's normally just ice.

I'm originally from Ohio, and I must admit, I loved it. At least once the ice portion passed. That and anything that gets me out of two days of classes can't be all bad in my book.
From the past couple of years I've spent in the state, I am confident that it can't make up it's mind as far as geography is concerned. If there is one thing that is consistant about Oklahoma weather is that it is always inconsistant.

Bah... I live in Iowa, and I definitely agree that snow is made of fail.
I was born in Arizona, and while I don't particularly enjoy one hundred degree summers, the sixty degree winters there are awesome. Also, the fact that the heat there is dry as opposed to the moist heat here makes it preferable.
I haven't liked snow since I was too big to really make a decent sized ice fort. ._.

Re: Salut Toujour
Like the fact it was in the 60s on Wednesday? I know. I've lived her my entire life. Which is one reason all this snow is so odd. I've gotten used to the fact it's bitter cold here in the winter, and that there's normally ice, but rarely snow. I haven't seen a blizzard like the one we recently had, in years, and it's happened twice this season.
Now I'm just waiting for the weeks of rain we'll get, followed by drought. That's Oklahoma.
My mother lived in Phoenix for awhile. I went to visit her one year, in November. We went swimming.
I honestly like the moist heat over dry heat, just because I like moisture in the air, strange as it is.

Re: Salut Toujour
Ugh... I loathe Phoenix. It's dirty and disgusting... I lived there when I was fourteen, and I will never live there again. If I ever move back to Arizona, it's likely to be somewhere like Flagstaff. It's a lot prettier there, and it seems cleaner and safer.
I like some moisture in the air because I have dry skin issues, but in Iowa... when it's hot and humid all at once, it's really crappy. I'm just glad I don't live somewhere like Utah that has salt in the air.

Re: Salut Toujour
Thank you. I do believe I'm going to like it here... once I can think of a good roleplay to start up.
My grammar is a bit of a habit. It bothers me to misspell, have wrong punctuation, or any of that sort. And if I can't remember how to spell a word, I think of synonym I can spell :/
~~
As for Phoenix, I liked the Camel Back Mountains. We went hiking out there and it was really nice. However, the tap water bleached the carpet. I think it's good place to only spend a day or two, as long as you stay in the suburbs, and only visit the city.

Re: Salut Toujour
I think part of the reason why I hated Phoenix so much was that I wasn't rich and living there. We were dirt poor, and while we didn't live in a particularly bad neighborhood, I still had to travel all over bad parts to get to places I wanted to be like school or my best friend's house or the mall. I've had creepers try to get me into their cars, and I've had a drunken, smelly, homeless man hug me. :: shudders ::
Anyway, I know exactly how you feel about misspelling things and using improper grammar. I'm always really glad to have someone correct me, so I'm not as likely to make that same mistake in the future.
I rely on Firefox's and Word's spellchecker a lot, but if I'm having an instant message conversation, I usually do the synonym thing. Of course, it helps that I have both a dictionary and a thesaurus ((both well used)) on my desk. ^^_^^

Well, that's about all of my french vocabulary that I could utilize on the spot. Do you really speak french, or is that just a phrase you know and enjoy?

Eh, je sav un pue de francais. J'etudie pour deux ans.
It's also been awhile since I've really done some french writing. I used to be able to write like a native French speaker... if I had my dictionary. My spelling in French can be the worst, though. That is one of my favored phrases, though. And one of the first I learned.

Welcome to FoG! I hope your stay here is filled with awesome RPs and a great overall experience.
On a side note I have to say that no place can compare to Michigan's weather. It will be 12 degrees one week and then melt all the snow the next week and it's January! Then we get all kinds of blizzards from the lake effect because Lake Michigan is just that big. Or it will snow in the first week of October and then not snow at all during November. Being a weatherman in Michigan must be great because I can't think of a job where you are wrong most of the time and don't get fired.

That's like Oklahoma :3 It's snows, and ices over one day, then a couple days later it's in the 70s.
There was one day last year that was really strange..
7 a.m. - Fog, 60 degrees
9:15 a.m - light rain, still 60s
11:30 a.m. - 85 degrees, bright, sunny.
12:30 p.m. - Heavy rain - 60 degrees
1:00 p.m. - Hail, light snow
3:00 p.m. - Bright and sunny, 70 degrees.

Re: Salut Toujour
This is quite a few days late, so please excuse me, but here is a very belated 'welcome to FoG' for you!
I really do hope to see more of you around. I know how difficult it is to get involved on certain forums but if you just keep adding to different areas of the site you'll start to feel like you've contributed in some way and others will see it too.
Everyone here is usually pretty friendly - as you can see - so I'm sure you'll fit right in!
