The Forever Unit OOC
America has discovered the secrets to resurrection and eternal life, and both come for the very low price of 100 million dollars.
The bodies are revived by using one of PSI Research's Forever Resuscitation Units (FRU), which was invented just two years ago. When a person is brought back to life, they remember only what happened to them up to the point when they died, and the time they spent dead seems like no time at all. For this reason, recently revived people are often extremely confused and panicked, especially if their death was especially painful.
If they manage to calm their minds and settle into the situation, they are faced with living in their new body: a decayed husk with a slight resemblance of their former selves (though many opt for lengthy cosmetic surgery to try and look more human). They have no sense of taste, smell, and only a rudimentary sense of touch. However, they can feel pain quite acutely, and are constantly submersed in a great deal of it. To try and get their mind off the pain, zombies, as they are commonly referred to as, typically enter into dangerous activities such as extreme fighting or skydiving. Militaries all over the world are also experimenting with using zombies as foot soldiers and pilots, as they often have no regard for their lives or the lives of others.
The FRU is implanted inside of their chest, behind their ribcage, and is constantly with its zombie. It also requires recharging every 12 hours (a charge takes about 30 minutes to complete, and the zombie need only sit on the recharging pad). When the FRU begins to run out of battery, the zombie has a much greater difficulty moving his or her body, and gradually loses control all together until finally perishing. They can of course be revived again by simply charging the battery. There is no easy way to truly kill a zombie. One may shoot a zombie repeatedly in the chest, and if the gun is powerful enough the FRU unit may be destroyed, but unless the body is mangled completely beyond repair, another FRU unit can be installed and the zombie will return to life.
People have risen up in protest of the FRU from every country, and some countries have already banned the use and manufacture of the device (also effectively barring zombies from entering the country). China, Japan, Iran, and Israel are among those that have already banned the device. The United States is very divided on the issue. President Fredrick Sullivan supports the device, whereas the attorney general Rob Dolbec wants the device banned, and the PSI Research company to be dismantled.
John Briggs is a 34 year old man living alone in a cheap one-bedroom apartment in San Francisco, California. He's a former Navy SEAL working as a gun-for-hire, and he has just finished his biggest job without a hitch. He's killed the Attorney General, Rob Dolbec, for the sum of 100 million dollars. So far it seems like he's gotten away with it, and he's already been given his payment in the form of one Forever Resuscitation Unit. He plans to use to to bring back his wife, April, who has been dead for 6 years. She died from a gunshot wound to the heart.
