So you like Parties?
“Just cards right?” You question yourself as you pull a white envelope from the mail box. There was no return address and instead of throwing it out you decided to open it. A card fell to the ground and a piece of paper; hesitantly you bend down and lift both of them. You turn the card once maybe twice in your hands trying to grasp what the meaning behind it is. Your eyes peer at the letter and you hastily shove the card back into the envelope. You open the letter nearly ripping it in your negligence.

To whom received this invitation,
Who am I? That is a normal question to ask, yet my name is not valid at this moment. You may call me The Mistress in Black if it will appease your mind. Welcome to my game. The card you hold in your hand is a replica of your personality and the way you treat others. Hence why I invited you. There is a manor not too far from where you are, the Hollenswell mannor. Yes, yes you are correct. This invitation is for a get together I am holding there; bring the card and please remember that when you reach the doors that card is you. Hope to see you there.
The Mistress in Black
The Plot Simplified
- Spoiler:
You receive a tarot card in the mail with a letter inviting you to a party. The Mistress in Black, a figureless name told you once you enter the doors the card is you. Meaning you completely lost who you are and assume the card’s identity. What you don’t know is it’s a race against the clock to regain your own identity or become prey for the Mistress in her cards.
At the start of the party when you start referring to yourselves as the cards you start being unable to recall information about yourself. Soon everything but the description of the card is forgotten. At that point the race against the clock starts. The mistress will give you 48 hours to either regain your memory or become one of her cards; though memory increase will gradually happen, not over a matter of minutes if it happens at all. Beware though there are creatures that roam the halls of the manor and various rooms run off your fears. Stay on your toes.

The Cards
- Spoiler:
The Fool:How cool would it be not to worry about what other people think about you? The fool is the one person who doesn’t get upset by life. He seen it all and done it all in his past lives, and knows deep down nothing really matters. He might look like the idiot, the joker, the one person who doesn’t take anything seriously, but his job is to show that there’s more than one way of looking at things, and that things aren’t as serious as you sometimes think they are. Take another look at the Fool in your life and see what he has to offer you.
The Magician: Ruled by Mercury. The magician marks the impulse of creativity, the spark that creates the fire. A card of huge energy, the choices he offers are up to you to make. Look at the four different suits he’s juggling: you could choose the material path of the pentacle, the emotional path of the cup, and the intellectual opportunities of the sword represents or the creativity of the wand The magician is your guide to life, giving you flashes of inspiration along the way, but he will never take responsibility for your choices. They are yours and yours alone.
The High Priestess: Ruled by Venus. You’ve probably met the high priestess and wondered what this girl has got. She seems to have an air of wisdom and authority about her and, although she doesn’t do anything to make herself the center of attention, she always is. She’s the one who already seems to have sorted out just what’s important to her and what’s not. She’s probably had more past lives than all of us put together and learnt her lessons well. It’s worth remembering that nobody, even the high priestess, wants to be alone. She represents relationships between two people, but also earthly issues and the spiritual. She is the feminine side of the magician, offering you flashes of insight into your own potential.
The Empress: Ruled by the moon. The empress is all woman. She’s the symbol of the mysteries of femininity. She’s cosmically creative, highly emotional and astonishingly selfless. But just as she represents beauty and support, girly emotions can also include jealously and spite. As a young woman you’ll explore them all, but keep the ugly ones in check or you’ll find that being a woman isn’t such fun after all. Her symbolic number is three, which if you’re religious, can represent Christ, God, and the Holy Ghost, or the more Pagan meaning of the relationship between the sun, the moon, and the earth. The empress is about security and contentment. She’s made her nest and now she can get on with what she needs to do.
The Emperor: Ruled by Aries. The Emperor is the father, the undisputed head of the gang with wisdom and compassion, logic, and social skills needed for such a job. If the Empress is the power of the natural world, The Emperor rules the mind; they need each other for balance and harmony. His symbolic number is four, and he represents the four elements that make the universe tick; earth, fire, water, and air. But his male energy can also be macho and aggressive and his potential coldness, cruelty, and boisterousness are something to watch out for.
The Hierophant: Ruled by Taurus. A Hierophant interprets spiritual knowledge and has a compassion and wisdom beyond his years. He’s the High Priest to The High Priestess, and represents the spiritual side of man. He’s the old philosopher sitting in his rocking chair, happy to watch the world go by and pass on his wisdom to whoever comes his way. But The Hierophant’s skill is only in talking about an issue. He won’t sort out your problem for you, although a chat could set you free. His symbolic number is five, the five pointed star representing the greatest capabilities and he suggests that you use them for yourself. The Lovers:Ruled by Gemini. Love is a partnership between two people, the balancing of power to make the most of each other. But this card is also about the balance in your own personality. Remember the old Chinese theory Yin and Yang? Yin (Female) is the cool, watery energy that comes to the boil with enough Yang (Male) energy. If one is a little too energetic or powerful, it can be a nightmare; just as too much heat can make water boil over, too much water can put out a fire. This is also the card of choice and commitment. Making a decision isn’t just about plumping for one of the options without giving it some serious thought. If you’re choosing one person over another, there’s going to be some fallout. Have a think about how you’re going to deal with that before you make your decision.
The Chariot: Ruled by Cancer. The Chariot is about speed and energy, struggle and triumph. It’s about winning the race, but with confidence and a mix of luck, intuition and good planning. It takes a skilled driver to ride the Chariot that wins. Two horses, one black, one white, that are pulling the chariot, represent the heart and the head, and it calls for intelligence, discipline and clarity of thought to keep them both in check. And remember that a chariot without a skilled driver can run out of control. The symbolic number for this card is the lucky number seven.
Strength: Ruled by Leo. This card is not so much about physical strength as the strength of will. The Chinese say that even the tallest bamboo cannot be toppled by the wind because the strength of its roots is unshakeable. Similarly, this is about the relationship between the sunny and shadow-sides of ourselves, the spiritual and the more earthly parts of souls. Remember the story of Beauty and the Beast in which the purity of Belle’s spirit tamed the wild anger of the beast? Their relationship was only a success because both spirits found a way to work together.
The Hermit: Ruled by Virgo. Remember the story of Jesus going off into the wilderness? He didn’t go there to lose himself but to find himself, and The Hermit card suggests you take some time out in a similar way. Some of the wisest people in the world choose to retreat from the world: look at the zen monks, the sadhus, the artists who hide in their attics and emerge with a masterpiece. The Hermit is the seeker and custodian of wisdom. ‘Seek and you shall find’ in his mantra.
Wheel of Fortune: Ruled by Jupiter. Many religions around the world believe in the constant cycle of birth, death and rebirth that spins you through your many lives enlightenment. The idea is to learn your lessons well so that with each lifetime you can make a more valuable contribution to the way the world turns. Nobody knows what spins the wheel, and nobody knows their fate or their destiny. The big lesson is to trust the universe, to know that we have control over what we do but little control over what the world does to us, and that everything that happens is for a reason.
Justice: Ruled by Libra. When we concentrate too much on the wrong things in life- what we appear to be, what we look like, how much money we have- the scales of justice sink out of balance as we dip into selfishness and ego. By being honest, kind and thoughtful, presenting ourselves well to the outside world as well as to ourselves and always making sure that we don’t let people take advantage of us, the scales will float back into balance, and we’ll get more of what we deserve. Remember the old adage: ‘As you sow, so shall you reap.’The Hanged Man:Ruled by water. This is a card of sacrifice. A man is suspended from a rose briar, unable to free himself, yet he doesn’t try to struggle. The thorns may hold him but they don’t draw blood. His hair and sash are flowing in the wind and his eyes are closed in meditation. The Hanged Man is not a victim of anything and asks no-one to save him; he has chosen to sacrifice himself in order to gain more insight about his place in the world through meditation. Upside down, he can see things as they really are; sometimes it takes such a radical act to get things into perspective. The question here is are you ready to do it?
Death: Riled by Scorpio. Death is the end, although not always of a life. A powerful card of transition, this could be about the birth of a new way of being, the butterfly emerging from the chrysalis. What comes to an end makes way for the beginning of something deeper, fresher. It could be a new love that could only happen if the old one has finished, or it could be the end of a part of your childhood that’s got to make way for the next stage of growing up, the explosion of your psychic powers and spiritual growth. Whatever it is, this is no time for mourning.Temperance:Ruled by Sagittarius. Temperance is an old fashioned idea, but the wise always learn from the past. It symbolizes the action of purifying, turning something bad into something much better. Look at the way the figure on the card pours from one chalice to another; she seems to offer the substance to the universe, allowing it to oversee the sparkling transformation. For most of us, temperance is more about the art of self control, of pouring the most base desires into the chalice and seeing what they turn into. Blending, sieving, sorting the wheat from the chaff of our emotions, this is about finding the recipe for moderation. Sagittarius is the archer who sets his sights clearly, holds steady and then lets his arrow fly directly to its target.
The Devil: Ruled by Capricorn. Do you ever find yourself doing things that you know will ruin your chances with someone, eating food that you know will make you fat, making yourself late when you know you need to be on time? The Devil is about sabotage and the temptation to be wicked. He whispers in your ear to try to tempt you, but this is the extent of his power over you. Eve had every opportunity to refuse the apple, and so do you. This is about the power to see what’s really stopping you getting the best out of your life. Once you realize you are the power behind the throne, you can rule your life.
The Tower: Ruled by Mars. Take care what you build your dreams on; build on sand and however fantastic the sand castle may be, it can’t last. This card reminds you if the need to be clear about your intentions, to prepare for failure and to be brave enough to watch that sand castle come tumbling down if you built it in the wrong place. Sometimes The Tower will bring destruction, a real hurricane of a story which rips away the seams of everything that you thought you understood. Don’t worry- The Tower comes with the inspiration to recognize catastrophe as a new opportunity.
The Star: Ruled by Aquarius. The Star is about hope, about reaching out to something beyond which you can touch and feel. But the person who draws The Star is not a dreamer; hope for you is not about ‘perhaps’ or ‘maybe’- it’s about ‘what if’ and ‘when’. Picking this card means that you’ve reached beyond your own limits and risen above the crowd. It’s about real achievement and real star quality.Ruled by Pisces. The Moon is the mirror of the heart and is about your dreams, instincts and primal drives. In astrology, it’s your sun sign that normally gets the most attention because it describes what you are like on the outside. But it’s where the moon was at the time of your birth that is often most telling because it gives an insight on what you’re really like on the inside. Similarly, The Moon card looks to the confusion or worries inside you and reminds you that even when the night seems dark, the moon is always shining, showing us the way. It says that it’s just a question of letting our eyes refocus and then look again.
The Moon:
The Sun: Ruled by the Sun. Without the sun, nothing would live. This is about the bright side of life, the energy and hope that can fill our lives. It’s about sunny characters who see the positive in everything. Think about how you feel when the sun is shining- particularly after a rainy spell-and bask in that energy. Nobody has it all the time, so enjoy it while it’s shining on you.
Judgment: Ruled by Fire. Judgment Day is, according to the Bible, the day when God looks back on your life and decides whether to send you up or down. It’s a story of Father Christmas, The Tooth Fairy and the Golden Time grid all rolled into one- the bottom line on whether you’ve been good…or not. But the Judgment card reminds you that your judgment day hasn’t yet arrived, and that you’ve (hopefully) got plenty of time before you meet your maker. Decided what you need to do to stay in the right queue. Judgment requires perspective and asks you to pay attention to what you need to learn in order to move on.
The World: Ruled by Saturn. This is the last of the Major Arcana cards, and yet the beginning of your spiritual journey. The world is what you can have if your heart and mind is in harmony, and this card says that you’re ready for the next chapter. The World is at the opposite end of the tarot deck from The Fool, a reminder that the story is never over, that it just gets more interesting the deeper you look into the mysteries of the world. Like those mythical Greek heroes, you’ll need faith, courage, and determination to find the keys.

Re: So you like Parties?
Name: Amure "Wulfie" Wolfgang
Age: 19
Sex: Female
Sexual Preference: Lesbian
Card: The Moon
Nationality: German
Appearance:
Fears:
Hierophobia- Fear of priests or sacred things
Pyrophobia- Fear of fire
Gerascophobia- Fear of growing old
Strengths: Outgoing, flirtatious, young-at-heart.
Weaknesses: Easily startled or scared, falls easily in love.
Personality: Wulfie can't seem to help flirting with every woman she meets. But, this is not necessarily a vice, as Wulfie usually comes across as joking or childish. Her comments can be quite blunt, yet piercingly accurate. Like a cat, she is easily distracted, but when focused, astoundingly bright. She tends to wild day-dream.
Bio: Born as the only child of a wealthy man, Amure is sole heir to the Wolfgang estate. A highly religious clan, the Wolfgangs are prominent in the funding of many Protestant churches. Needless to say, Wulfie's father didn't take it lightly when he discovers her kissing a local Catholic girl for two rather large reasons. Wulfie takes the first chance she can to escape her father's harping and that comes, like magic, in the form of a daunting invitation.

Re: So you like Parties?
Name: Clara Rose Estali
Age: 21
Sex: Female
Sexual Preference: Straight
Card: The Hanged Man
Nationality: Half British Half French
Appearance:
Fears: Aichmophobia- Fear of needles or pointed objects.
Arachnophobia- Fear of spiders.
Coimetrophobia- Fear of cemeteries.
Pediophobia- Fear of dolls.
Strengths: Clara's strengths are her selfless heart, her giving nature, her willingness to do what needs to be done, even in the face of her own fears, and her clear, insightful mind.
Weaknesses: Clara tends to be to self-sacrificing and ends up hurting herself. She is also every bad at hiding her own fears and working with technology, even though she loves it.
Personality: Clara is a very encouraging, understanding person. She has a deep insight to others feelings and is always trying to help others, no matter what the cost. She is a very loyal friend and lover and would never do anything to betray her friends. She is also very trusting, believing that all humans are inherently good.
Even though she works hard at making others happy, she seems to have a very good head on her shoulders and doesn't neglect herself. She will give up anything to help those she believes are in need, but she has always been very organized and good at achieving her goals. While some times she can be absentminded she does seem to have a strong confidence and like she has some higher knowledge of the world than those around her.
Clara loves to have fun and spend time with others, rarely spending her time alone. She is easy to get along with, but some find her sacrificing nature to be annoying while others take advantage of it. Clara can tell when someone is tricking her and, while she will still help them, she won't continue to associate with them.
Bio: Clara grew up in Britain with her father and mother. Her mother was a very beautiful French woman who taught her how to be elegant and refined. Her father was an upper-middle class business man who had a very authoritative nature and a soft spot for the women in his life. An only child, it was amazing how she turned out. She was always a very giving, helpful child and that followed her up into her adult life. She was a good student and rarely ever got into trouble.
After high school, Clara refused to let her parents pay for her college. She had gotten a scholarship and a job to pay for her tuition and apartment. She is currently studying at West Thames College in Isleworth. Her life was fairly slow pace at the time, until she received a letter in the mail.

Re: So you like Parties?
Name: Number ten
Type of creature: Humaniod
Powers: Persuasion, not mind control, but a lesser form and has to be touching her target. Despair, she is able to instill the greatest despair into those she touches, though for only a short amount of time. Hidden, she is able to completely mask herself for a short period of about less than a minute.
Abilities: Flexibility, she is able to contort her body and go into spaces many wouldn't be able to. Trust, she has a knack for gaining people's trust. Silent Kill, she is able to kill a person with one stab from a sharp needle in over fifty places on the body.
Appearance:
Bio: Number ten came into Mistress Black's care shortly after she lost her mind. She didn't really lose it though, simply became psychotic. She was a battered, bruised, crazy mess who had a severe case of amnesia. She could remember how to walk and talk, but everything else was a mystery. She was a perfect mold for the Mistresses game and does everything she is told.
Ten has become a sort of spy for her Mistress, mostly because she is such an up beat person. Of course she is also good at instilling terror and despair into those around her. Her crazy side provides that. It is easy to tell when she has gone into her other mode, the way she walks, talks and acts changes, though she is the same person.
Okay, let me know what you think. I'm not sure if this is okay, or what you wanted at all and if not I'll just change it. :3

Her crazy side provides that. It is easy to tell when she has gone into her other mode, the way she walks, talks and acts changes, though she is the same person.
Okay, let me know what you think. I'm not sure if this is okay, or what you wanted at all and if not I'll just change it. :3

Re: So you like Parties?
Name: Shai Mijan
Age: 29
Sex: Male
Sexual Preference: Straight
Card: The Fool
Nationality: Dutch
Appearance:
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Personality: Shai is a very straight forward man who doesn't care about being liked or not. Neither does he care about what someone else thinks about him, unless you're very close to his heart. He's seen enough of life to know there's always more than what just meets the eye, and therefore he cares most about what he himself thinks about everything in life. Still, he's very curious and he always wants to know every possible side of a story. Also, he's very intelligent and he's impatient with people he considers dumb and he can be very dominating. But once he takes a liking on you, it would take you forever to make him mistrust you. Once in his heart, he'd do anything for you. He can also be very pragmatic, that's why he hardly ever choses a side to be on. He cares a great deal for justice and being righteous.
Bio: Being adopted by a Dutch family, Shai has been raised in The Netherlands. He never met his biological parents and to this day he does not particulary wish to meet them as he understands they most likely had no other choice than to give him up for adoption. That's also why he doesn't hold a grudge against them. Shai knows that his adoptive parents would always support him if he were ever to choose to meet his biological parents, and though he does not particulary wishes to, the curiousity as to what they look like and all of that grows stronger every day.
His adoptive parents made sure that he understood what they call 'The Principles of Life' which are: never lie, always stay true to yourself, always know that there's more to a story than just one side and never let anyone get you down. These lessons have turned Shai into a very strong willed man, which also causes him to be very stubborn at times.
Ever since he was a little boy he had the feeling he looked to things in a different way and when he became older, he understood that he was one of the very few people who did not choose his own side to a story over someone else's side. Shai has respect for every aspect of every story and though he also stays true to himself, he never proclaimed to have the key to the truth. When growing up he started to understand that every human being creates his own truth and that for every human being that truth is the most logical one.
He grew up in a very strong and supportive family and when he decided to go to America to finish his study there, his parents could only cheer him on. He's residing in America for 6 months now and is preparing to write his final thesis. Going to America with nothing more than just a backpack with the most important stuff he needed, he received a chance to build a new life with new people. His parents stayed behind in The Netherlands, but he speaks to them on a regular basis. Now, after being 6 months in America, he has new friends, an apartment and a part time job as a junior researcher.
Age: 29

Sexual Preference: Straight
Card: The Fool

- Losing his sanity
- To be forgotten

- Independence
- Intelligence
- Physical strength
- Determination
- Self control
- Strong willed
Weaknesses:
- Impatient
- Careless
- Nonchalant
- His independence can also be a weakness, because he sometimes forgets it's good to ask someone to help him
- Can be very stubborn

This looks like an interesting roleplay (hmm, but which card to pick....). May I ask if plans for it is still in the works?

Re: So you like Parties?
Name: Nikolaus Schneider
Age: 27
Sex: Male
Sexual Preference: Straight
Card: Judgment
Nationality: German
Appearance:
Fears:
.: Insanity
.: Indecision
.: Divine punishment
.: Being ill-prepared
.: Worthlessness
Strengths:
.: Perception/Intuition
.: Memory (recalling, reflecting, reminiscing)
.: Ingenuity
.: Efficiency, especially with weapons
.: self-discipline
Weaknesses:
.: drinking (alcohol, that is), smoking (cigarettes only)
.: apathy/indifference
.: induced forgetfulness
.: self-deception
.: ingrained social conventions
Personality:
Stoic, quiet, and generally reserved, Nikolaus may appear cold and indifferent at first; however, he can be quite amiable and talkative with acquaintances (or heavily inebriated). With this man, it almost seems as if everything is all business--manners, efficiency, and professionalism. To the keen of perception, a heavy air seems to hang about him--a fog of torment, a mist of regret, haze of sober sorrow, all tinged with an edge not so unlike a knife's.
Bio:
Born to an average family that always strove to be upper class, Nikolaus was raised with the elite's etiquette ingrained in him almost more than the boys born with silver spoons in their mouths. Since he, however, had to work his way up, he doesn't take much for granted and credits his achievements to the few who've helped him along the way. Sacrificing family, friends, and identity, he ventured into mercenary work after finishing his education (and finding it highly boring). At some point, the government picked him up and signed him on board for them. Now, what he does is classified and...well, might not be suitable for table talk. Maybe that's why he smokes and drinks.
((How's that? ))

Re: So you like Parties?
Thus! Time does make sloths of us all,
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the hazy cast of forgetfulness,
And roleplays of great pitch and moment
With this regard their interests turn awry,
And lose the name of action.

Re: So you like Parties?
Ahhh I am totally going to join. I'm going to try and use The Wheel of Fortune or Justice before someone else capitalizes on it.
And now - for a character sheet!
And now - for a character sheet!
Re: So you like Parties?
I don't think this is going to start any time soon, if it's even going to start. The one who started the thread resides in Spain at the moment, as she's in the army and I doubt she has signed in to FOG in the past few months.

Re: So you like Parties?
Oh my. Good luck to her in the army!
Does anyone know how to contact her outside of FOG? Maybe we could ask permission to start it up while she's absent.

Yes, she's in my MSN contact list, I'll ask her about it once I get to talk to her again

Re: So you like Parties?
Sounds like a great plan.
Do you think it's okay to use a character I already have?
I really want to use him...

Re: So you like Parties?
Yeah, I think that's okay, if your char fits into the char sheet that you have to fill out, then sure
