Distant Journey Character Vault [Profiles Only] MakiProcopy

Name: Maki Arnan Tulsva

Age: 16 years old

Sex: Male

Height: 5'8

Weight: 135lbs

Race: Human; as for what is known.

Eye Color: Golden yellow, and red with a fiery look to them.

Hair: Crimson red hair that extends a little above his waist line. It is usually twisted and tied to keep it from going all over the place.

Skin: Smooth and naturally tanned to dark toned skin.
.
Body Type: Slender with an athletic build-slightly muscular, which makes him seem

Distinctive Markings/Accessories (tattoos, scars, etc): A scar on his right eye; mostly scar tissue that has sealed that eye shut. It was from a childhood accident which has left him blind in that eye.

Blood Type: R; It is a new form of blood types-as people have adapted over the years, because there has been some crossbreeding between various humanoid (i.e. Alien, and non-animal beings)
-----------------------------------------
Personality: Maki is usually the friendly type, and at times over zealous in his efforts. He enjoys being talkative; it's what makes him feel alive. Then there is his high amount of energy that could keep him awake for days, but he does have a calm and assertive attitude-along with his honesty which makes him seem to be more of a gentleman. The one that could be his downfall is how hungry he can get, but it's also because of his high metabolism. Aside from all of that, he can be a very kind and giving person.

Likes/Dislikes: Loves to tinker and build various inventions; it's his favorite thing to do along with fishing, and thoughts of him flying. //// He dislikes it when people won't listen to him, or hear what he has to say. But the thing that bothers him the most is getting in an argument with his grandfather-it's always over trivial things. One of the other and minor things that irks him, close to being apart of one of his most hated; Is perhaps when someone tries to discourage him from anything he comes up with, and this links to his grandfather (who can do that sometimes).

Favorite Food/Least favorite: He could eat just about anything if given the opportunity, but he doesn't have the option in being picky. That is of course at times he hates certain vegetables such as asparagus.

Special Abilities (Doesn't have to be special powers, could also be a talent): Since he was a small child he always had a knack for making things, when his toys grew boring he would modify or create new ones to how he liked it. The only way he was able to learn how to do things was by watching and learning from his grandfather.

Location/Place of origin (Describe in long or short detail): Ruolsted, a vast country side with a small town and a few villages spread out. A lot of farmers live here, and it is one of the lowest income areas, and the most steam reliant- compared to Wenz (pronounced Venz) which is the capital. Wenz is the inner city of Ruolsted, comprised of high dollar architecture. The technology is more advanced there since they have the money to build better things, and it's where they mass produce the steam powered air ships for travel, and military use. The city was founded after a man named Altruis Wenz-who founded Wenz Industries for the production of air ships and other supplies. There is a lot of stigma between outer and inner Ruolsted since a lot of the big shots live in Wenz, and since they are the richest and well respected they have a lot of say in how things are run-even on the outside.

-Steam is the prime resource for anything around inner and outer Ruolsted (many years before; it replaced gasoline fuel-due to its pollution rates, and the cost). To help keep things going, there are a few plants that were designed to help maintain the pressure throughout the inner and outer city-country.

Family (If any list them or put none): [b]
-Lind Tulsva (Grandfather)
-Barren (Pronounced 'Bahr-ren') Tulsva (Father, absent)
-Marinka (Muh-reen-kuh) (Mother, absent)

[b]Background story of character:
|Story of his Origin| It all started when a star had fallen from the sky, but it did not look like a start-someone was falling from the sky. Barren was out that night sitting on the roof with his telescope, he was always fascinated with the stars and the moon; it was something he always admired. It was when he saw the star, at first he had the biggest smile on his face, but quickly it changed into shock when he had zoomed in and saw that it was someone-a girl-that was falling out of the sky. Quickly he jumped down from the roof and made a mad dash towards where he had seen her fall, it didn't take him long; despite tripping and tumbling a few times to get there. Once he neared the site he saw that she had landed in the frog pond, he quickly ran and scooped her up into his arms and pulled her to dry land. She was passed out cold, and her skin felt cool to the touch which was strange since she was falling at full speed. Barren decided it was best that he took her back to his home, he couldn't wake his father knowing how his father would be if he saw him bring a girl home. Picking her up into his arms he walked with her, and as he walked he couldn't help but stare down into her face...she was such a beauty. Her hair was the color of the sea, and the moon complimented her skin with an impressive glow. The gown she was wearing was soaked through, and she looked like she was from somewhere beyond, she had to be. Once he was at the house he knew he had to go around the back, and that he did-of course quietly while not trying to wake up his father. The girl seemed to be waking up, and it was when he got her to his room and laid her down; she opened her eyes and looked at him for a brief second before drifting off back to sleep.

Barren was beginning to wonder if it were a dream, there was no way a girl could fall from the sky-not even from the stars, or maybe it could be real? He had taken a seat in his chair and decided he would try and stay awake, but found it difficult as he was drifting off to sleep...but he managed to fight it and would look at here and there before succumbing. Many days had followed and his father did in fact find out by the second day about her, but he didn't have a harsh approach towards the situation. The girl was lost, and seemed to be uneasy with where she was, and the people were different than where she was from. Word got around to everyone about the new girl, and they would come by here and there to try and make her feel welcome. As more time progressed, she grew comfortable and started to blend in more with the crowd. Marinka was well known for her smile, and her very giving and helpful personality, and this of course caused Barren to slowly fall in love with her. At first Lind was against it, because of her nature, and that he felt that the relationship would not work out. Of course this caused stigma between him and his father, which resulted in the two eloping far away to get married. They lived far from his father for another two years before returning, and of course when they returned his father noticed they were expecting. It wasn't easy for Barren to explain to his father how much he did love Marinka, and how he wanted nothing more for him to accept them the way they were. Lind could at times be stubborn as a mule, but he managed to break through and accept things the way they were.

One evening when Barren was out working on construction of a bridge, Marinka was home trying to prepare dinner for the two men. She was several months along with her pregnancy by now, and it hadn't occurred to her that over doing things could cause some dire consequences. Lind was outside working on some finishing touches for a crib he was making for the new baby, he figured he would try and surprise Marinka. Just as he finished laying on a layer of paint, it was when he heard the scream, so he dropped what he was doing and ran inside to check. To his shock he saw Marinka holding her stomach while sobbing; he noticed the fluid on the floor and knew that she was going into labor. There was no time to call for help, so he proceeded to help her deliver the baby. Someone heard the scream, and came by to see if everything was alright. Lind instructed them to get his son Barren. When the baby was born, it was when Barren arrived to see his grandfather holding the crying newborn. Marinka was exhausted from it, and had fallen asleep afterwards. The baby was a healthy baby boy, with red hair just like his father, but it was hard to tell what his eyes were since they were shut. Barren wanted to hold him, but not until they took care of Marinka first since she had done all the work-he felt she should hold him first.

Everything seemed perfect as Marinka laid in bed nursing the baby; he was small, and full of personality. Barren was so excited to be a father, and naming him wasn't as easy, but he wanted the child to have a name that reminded him of his wife somehow. Marinka wasn't all for it at first, but it grew on her when she spoke the name to the baby. Maki was the boy's name. The two would remain there for hours admiring the baby, and Lind surprised them with the crib he had built for them as an apology for giving them a hard time. It was mostly caused by him missing Barren's mother, as she had passed away while giving birth to him.

Unfortunately what seemed to be celebration turned to depression as Marinka was beginning to lose interest in the baby. This sparked concern from Barren who noticed it when she didn't really want to hold him for too long, or she wouldn't pick him up when he was crying. It was as if she wasn't there mentally, and the Marinka he knew was somewhere else. The doctor was called to come by and check her, and told them it was something that would pass and that they should allow her room, and try not to force the child on her. It wasn't easy, and Barren had done what the doctor had told him to do. No one knew the turmoil she was dealing with, she was suffering, and there was nothing she could do to get out of it. It was late that night and Barren was gone to the world, the baby slept just like his father so it was easy to not wake the both of them up. She got herself dressed, wrote a note, and then laid it next to her husband before climbing out the window and running off into the night. The morning that came was filled with sorrow as Barren sat on the edge of his bed with the letter clenched in his hand, he couldn't believe that she would leave him...wasn't she happy? Two years had passed, and it was the week after the child's birthday when his father had taken leave as well. It was confusing for him as he remembers standing next to his grandfather's leg watching his father walk away, he didn't cry since he thought he would come home later. When his father didn't, he would stand at the open front door looking out for him. Every night he would do this till tears rained down his cheek, he realized then that his father wasn't coming back.

Dreams: (What are your character's hopes and dreams?)What better dream could quench the thirst to fly? From when he was read stories to, about finding treasures from across the many worlds, and most of all having one's own ship to get there. From when he was a small boy he would always watch the air ships take off into the sunlight, and he always wished that he could one day do the same. It was his dream, to have his own ship, and to go on a huge adventure to find his treasure waiting for him.
