Mystic Dragon's Nimble Hands
Alright, so this is an art form to me... To others, it's more of something to scoff at. This is a project that I've been working on for quite some time... Probably too long actually. I incorporated my drawing and my abilities as a seamstress to create something that years ago I would have never thought of doing. I free-handed a character of mine onto fabric and I attacked it with a needle and thread.
So, what do you think? Be brutal.

Wow, that is a really, really cool idea!
I'm interested in seeing it in its completed form!
I don't really see anything I can criticize yet, so... I guess you're good. ^^
It'd be awesome if you could find a way to do more shading, but I imagine that would be extREMEly difficult.
Did you do the thing with the throat on purpose? 'Cause that's A++

Thank you! I'll update as I continue. I too, am curious how it will turn out. This is something new to me, and honestly, I didn't think it would work... I surprised myself.
I want to do shading with various blacks for her hair, but I don't know how to shade, at all, and I'm afraid I'll screw it up. I'm getting someone to teach me to shade in drawings though, so that I may use what I learn to complete this.
Yes, the stitching on her throat was purposely done that way. It was a pain, along with her collar bone and nose. I thought those would be my main problem, second to the hair, of course. When actually her shirt, the white one, is what is giving me hell. I wanted her to have a 'knit' effect on it, so.. crosshatching with a needle and thread... Fun >_>

I don't think anyone with a modicum of brains would laugh at something like this, as anything less than another form of art. *nodnod* It's lovely, Dragon - and embroidery is something only a very few people can even begin to do anymore, much less with something approaching this form of artistry - so I applaud you for taking that step!
My sister is actually a wonderful seamstress, and she is always cross-stitching/embroidering/sewing SOMETHING or other. If you'd like, I could ask her for a good resource that might point you in the right direction for "shading techniques" for your work?

MysticD, I've told you once, and I'll tell you again, you're very talented! I can't wait to see when you've finished it!
