The Unbeatables - a gambling RP
So, while I am waiting for my other interest check to garner some attention, being bored as I am, I thought I might post up my other RP idea just to see how much attention it attracts in this forum.
Plot Synopsis:
18 years ago, King of Deception, Theodosius Fury, set his eyes on Coral Island - an undeveloped empty island - for his future casino landmark. Through an underhand method, Theodosius acquired the rights of the island and made 'Coral Isle' (as he renamed it) a land of wealth for gamblers everywhere.
However, Theodosius has offended many throughout his 18 years of investment in Coral Isle, using despicable methods to gain the upper-hand in either chasing away shady business investors interested in gaining a piece of the land, or claiming a previously unearned title in gambling, mostly using cheating to win a game. If all else fails, Theodosius could always count on his armed men to... 'do the job.' But whatever occasion rise up to him, he simply followed one principle - the heart must be hardened, and no mercy must be given or considered otherwise.
Today, 18 years later, you, one of the arch rivalries of Theodosius, will seek to bring him down... for whatever reasons or grudges you might have against him.
One (but not the only) way to bring him down is to gamble your way through, but, could you get pass his cheats? Will you be able to strip the King of Deception of his veil of lies and reign supreme? Or will you have to pay up? Not only with your money, my friend. Theodosius has a very... twisted way of thinking when it comes to the stakes. It could be your finger, one of your eyes... or it could even be your life. But, if you succeed, hey, maybe you could earn yourself the title of the "King/Queen of Gambler" (or 'Deception' if you want to follow in this wretched man's path).
Of course, you could always storm your way through Coral Isle against his whole army of bodyguards occupying the entire land of 2.5 Square Miles. Even if you do get to the main man himself, don't forget, he is the King of Deception. You might be able to get a bullet through his body, but that only matters if you could get your bullet landed on the person himself.
Otherwise, you could just be enjoying yourself. Why the vengeful spirit? Enjoy yourself. It's Coral Isle, where wealth and fortune awaits you... if you are lucky, of course.
In the sign-up sheet, there is a field labeled "Style of Gambling". Basically, this is the fashion your character prefers to gamble in.
There are three styles of gambling:
The Art of Gambling - The standard, honest gambling involving listening to dices, sharply looking at decks as they are flipped or shuffled (within less than a second), rolling dices to the exact number you want without playing dirty, etc. This require skills and acute senses and is not necessarily a weaker Style than the following one, though it's much more difficult to beat one with tricks up his sleeves using this Style.
The Art of Deception - Basically... cheat. But, it's not as easy as it sounds. You'll have to convince your opponent of your bluff, switch a card into a different one using mental concentration (some psychic energies involved), master trickery in the game (hiding a card under your sleeve, for example), and lots more other tricks you could come up with and surprise/destroy your enemies with. Not necessarily more powerful than the former Gambling Style. If mastered well, one could easily beat Deception using the good ol' Art of Gambling itself.
Hybrid - Theodosius managed to master this one in his 18 years of ruling. This involves both trickery and the gambling skills. Takes a heck of a long time to master, but once you do, you are almost unbeatable.
So, what do you think? As with my previous interest check, constructive but polite criticism are welcomed.
