Complaint:

So the four newborn pug puppies my grandmother was nursing died. At least, we thought so. The first two to died (from pneumonia seeing as how when we got them, they were wet and cold) and my grandmother took them out, wrapped them, and put the bodies in a plastic bag. When the second two stopped crying, she asked me, at about four this morning, to take them out and wrap and bag them, because her nerves were tore up.

The first puppy was near the gate of the carrier, he was black and beautiful, a little chunk. These puppies, might I add, were only two or three days old. We got them within five hours of their birth. Anyways. The black pug pup was sitting near the gate, so it was easy to get him. I noticed the other pup was all the way in the back, so I didn't bother yet. I took the black pup and wrapped him up in paper towels, neatly might I add, then bagged him with the others. Then I reached back with my paper towels, and wrapped my fingers around the chest of the beige and black puppy in the back.

And he lifted his head.

I drew him out of the carrier, and grandma give me a towel to wrap him in. He was barely holding on, which was amazing seeing as he was one of the first ones to get sick. He was beautiful, with a flat face and black nose and chin, and mostly black body with a beige head and neck. I held him against my chest, and let him press his ever-so-tiny paw against my thumb as he wheezed and whined very quietly, his tongue beginning to dry. He was on the verge of death, but had not yet passed. Finally, his wheezing stopped. He stilled. I combed my thumb over his head, as I had been doing, and rubbed at his throat so lightly, and he drew his last breath, pushing his paw to my thumb once more. I waited...

Overall, ever since having taken him out, almost forty-five minutes has passed. I feel bad now. That poor puppy, it tore up my nerves to watch him die. At least I was able to keep him warm and comfy by holding him.

I'm so sorry that you've lost all the puppies. It's terrible that they all had to get sick. Holding the last one too must have been so painful. It's such a shame that they had to lose their lives last night. *holds you* I'm so sorry.

No, you see. We were the vet for them, kind of. The man is a dog breeder, and he brought us the puppies as soon as they were born because my grandmother works for the Humane society and bottle-feeds baby animals. And they did fine for a while, but because the man didn't clean them after birth, and didn't keep them warm in the process of bringing them to us, they very quickly caught pneumonia.

And a puppy that's only days old with pneumonia has no chance really. They can't eat or they'll drown, and really the only thing they can do is just die, because taking them to a vet would only leave the option of putting them down, which would've been nice but it was early in the morning and gramma and I don't have a car.

I'm sick of being treated like a charity case.

I knew when I made the decision to tell the police that my family would find out. But, I never expected how it would change. To the untrained eye, everything is as it was before. My family tries not to treat me different, but that's also because like me they're pretending that the event never happened. Still, just behind their eyes I can see the look of pity, and the regret, and the shame. I'm sick of them wondering if I'm okay. I'm sick of the flashbacks. I'm sick of being dependent on therapy. I'm sick of the PTSD. I hate it, I don't want them to feel bad for me. I don't want people to get hurt because of my mistakes.

While he isn't in jail, I think I can manage. I can't complain, and then not take action towards what I'm complaining about. So, today I'm going to make the transition from charity case to success story. I'm going to stop being a victim and start being a survivor.

AH. I just got home, and I have SO MUCH homework! *pulls hair out* I'm so stressed, and it's only the first day, but that's part of the reason why I'm stressed! I have two more classes tomorrow, and I'm sure I'll get just as big of a workload from them as well! Omg, this is insane.
