Touchdown from foreign soil
Hey everyone,
Looks like I am here to invade your boards with yet another introduction from a newbie recruited to FOG. Although I would like to hope, in a desperate attempt at being that tad more different and that little twist odder, that I am your first and only poster to hail from France.
So, me, myself and I?
Well, feel free to call me Stephen (all who spell this with a "v" will be disembowelled from this point on ) I am 18 and I come from the city of Toulouse in the South of France, though I am soon to be returning to my native country of the UK to study History & International Relations at university.
So what the bloody hell am I doing here?
Aside from being encouraged constantly (nudged hard with foot?) to join by Klixx, who I know from Roliana (The ever present thorn in my Role-playing sides with an all too un-settling talent for taking role-plays and turning them into devious chess-matches). I find myself all too often role-plays which, whilst brilliant conceptually, lack interest or commitment on many other sites, and so I have decided to join somewhere a little more "hardcore" where good stories have a chance at living past thier 1 month birthdays.
I am a versatile RPer, with a taste for anything which offers me a chance to Roleplay, I love to be thrown outside my comfort zone with writing characters who would be people who I would both hate and be disgusted by in real-life (such as a power-crazed, human puppeteer of a priest in one of my previous RPs), so I will pretty much join anything with a strong-storyline which grabs my interest.
I hope to find some interesting RPs to join here, feel free to invite me to have a look at some owned by any of you (Super-villain / Heroes and general fantasy settings are particularly welcome!) and possibly set up my own RP in the future once I am based in the UK in about 20 - 30 days time (I'm thinking of "The art of self-destruction" as a working title).
See you all around,
LDOF.

Bwahahahah! We're hardcore? XDDDD I guess we are when it comes to actual talent... but I never would have thought to describe this place as hardcore.
Anyway, I think you are the first from France of whom I'm aware, but we do have many who hail from the U.K.
I think you'll fit into this place just fine. Inerio- you'll undoubtedly meet her soon- also enjoys characters that aren't quite... normal if you will, but I do believe she loves them, so there's a bit of a difference.
I also have an account on Roliana. Whatever possessed me to join is something of which I'm a bit uncertain, but I am in one role play there, and I quite enjoyed the Summer Event they just had... if only they would announce the contest winners... ._.
Anyway, it's good to see another new face. ^^_^^
{EDIT}
I would just like to add that I shouldn't have any trouble spelling your name properly because that used to be my older brother's name with the same spelling. Strangely enough... his nicknames were spelled using the letter 'v' ((Steve, Stevie, Steve-O)).
Believe me when I tell you I know just how you feel about people misspelling your name. There are probably ten different spellings of the name "Kathryn," and people always try to add an extra syllable to my name. It's annoying.

Well, since you're asking us to pimp our RP's a bit, I'll be happy to. I have one that's sort of having problems due to some people kind of dropping off, but is still alive and kicking and isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
I never actually turn down people that want to jump in or close recruitment so I can grab people like you who just joined and are looking for something. It's modern/fantasy, not superheroes stuff, but rooted in the current modern world as we generally know it.
Anyhoo, there it is: Here.
Welcome aboard, incidentally.

Hello, and salutations, LDOF! Lol I enjoy your username.
It's odd that you say that your name is Stephen with a 'ph,' as I was just recently thinking about the name and the 2 variations of it only yesterday (while considering names for a character)! I'm sure it does get annoying after awhile of people spelling it the wrong way though.
As far as I know, you are the only person here that is currently living in France. I am rather envious of you for that, actually. How do you like it there? You said you're originally from the UK, which, to me, is just as awesome. I'd love to go visit those western European countries someday. I got to go to Germany and Luxembourg as a child, but I really can't remember any of it. ):
I hadn't heard of Roliana before, but after checking it out, it reminds me a lot of Gaia, which I'm guessing it's based off of? In any case, I do hope that you will have better luck here in regards to not only being involved in enticing role-plays, but also having your RPs last longer, and - God forbid - reach the point of completion. Your possible future role-play sounds intriguing.
Well, enjoy yourself here, and let me know if you have any questions!

Re: Touchdown from foreign soil
Kathryn, Thanks for the welcome (wrote this earlier, but I think I closed the tab before I clicked "post") and thanks for mentioning Inerio is on here, we RPed a lot together on Roliana, in the same RP of mine as the guy who introduced me to this place (klixx). I Totally get you on the spelling of your name, I know two Kathryns, both spelt differently to you and they both get amazingly pissed off when someone gets their name wrong too.
Diodri, you do indeed sound trés hardcore and no one noticed the rope. Thanks for the Welcome.
Heyseuss, your RP sounds really interesting, I will give it some thought, though I am not too sure yet as in two / three weeks time I will be inactive for up to 10 days given moving to the UK. The story has very intriguing issues in it though, so I'm tempted to write and send in a character application regardless, I’ll sit on the idea for a day or two.
Fate Fortold, interesting co-incidence on the name.
When it comes to living in France, given I have lived here 13 years and am now 18, I don't really think about the fact I live in France, it's second nature to me now as well as where I would call my true "home". So far, In Europe, I have been to Spain (innumerable times as I live 2 hours away from the national border), Norway (most fabulous place in the world in my opinion), Portugal and obviously the UK (though never London oddly enough).
As for Roliana, it is essentially gaia, but a far smaller and more close-knit community (gaia without the ass-holes!) and it’s a little better for RPing.
*eyes glaze over* You mean some RPs actually have an ending? That's a really exiting idea as in the 3 / 4 years I have RPed all I have done have died bar the first season of my own RP (second I had to close for a number of issues). No questions so far, but I would like to say this place seems kick-ass so far and I cannot wait to start up my blog in the Blogs & Journals section (I enjoy blogging on Music, historical events and gay / human rights). Thanks for the welcome.
Ragter, sorry, some of us are just born to love something a little less hardcore (like industrial metal, rock on!). And hopefully with some time here on FOG I can toughen up into the hard-core man you expect all us RPers to be.
Again, thanks to all for the welcome.
And now for bed.
Bonne nuit à tous, je vous souhaite des beaux rêves.

Re: Touchdown from foreign soil
I sense a kindred spirit....
Welcome to the FOG! Let's Dance On Fire.
Role-plays do end, I am told. I have yet to see it with my own eyes, but... maybe someday... *stares off into space*
Actually, I am making progress toward realizing that goal. As of last month I have been hosting a role-play that has been going strong for 1 year. ONE COMPLETE YEAR! So I think maybe, juuust mebbeh... IT... COULD... WORK...!
*pant-gasp*
*pant-gasp*
*long sigh*
That RP isn't here at FOG, but you might enjoy taking a look at the role-play I do have here. It's still on the first page. But you might not enjoy it unless you're really into literate role-plays with extraordinarily deep settings.
If you're interested, I'd love to have you in Sephiris: The Price of Peace.

Totally cool if you want to put one in and it can sit there until you get back to dear old Blighty and then start off. Or play, take off and come back. It's up to you, I don't bother with strict regulation of players. So long as people aren't hanging on waiting for a response, it's all kosher from my perspective.

Re: Touchdown from foreign soil
It'd be wonderful to have a new character come in any time Stephen, and best wishes on your upcoming move. (Have one coming soon myelf XD )
But most importantly, welcome to FOG - whenever you can get to posting on a more regular basis. I remember just enough French from my college days to read what you wrote without a problem, though I wouldn't dare try to make a reply - it'd only be gibberish. ><
And I know what you mean - I'm also currently participating in an RP that's been going on for about a year now too, on a seperate board. I've actually made several friends during the course of it - the best part of the whole experience, if you ask me *sage nod* - and it's been a wonderful time. I pray you'll find that here, too. : )
