Prologue will explain some of it.
But basically Vampyres are in hiding, Vampanese rule the night. X amount of unlucky students (the initial players) stumble upon Drake (Dracula)'s tomb and free him. He hunts each of them and makes them join his army of the night, to lead the Vampyres back to their rightful place as stalkers of the night.
