Gone again.
But only for a little while! My twin is back in town; I'll be drivin' North tomorrow morning, and odds are, will being staying a night or two up there. Not quite sure how long I'll be. Don't miss me too much ^_^ And I'll make an effort to keep an eye on posts and things, so you lovely folk don't have to wait up on me. But, until then....Toodles!

Sounds like you'll be having lots more fun! I'm envious! Have a good time, Shades, and we'll be here once you get back!
Re: Gone again.
So it's been a rather... interesting visit thus far. Not nearly as good and fun filled as I would have liked. Actually, there was something of a crisis that I ended up getting myself stuck in, and hopefully, walk through as healthy as I started.
Story time!::
I get to town early. The drive up North is usually about 3 hours with traffic; luckily I timed it all right, arrived just half over one, and met up with my mom. We great and all that good stuff, she's headin' off to work, and I get cozy with the joy of a good beverage, a better book, and the perfect sunny weather that Washington gets in the early summer. Twenty minutes later; I get a call. Turns out everyone at my mom's bar is sick. With the Swine Flu (Sorry... It's the CDC H1N1 Virus... forgive me pigs) And she can't possibly work a Thursday night, by herself... Being the gracious daughter I am, I put my book dog, chug the drink, and head over to the bar to act as bartender/hostess/waitress... I made some money, and I know all the patrons, so really it wasn't hard, and it's a nice break from cleaning blood off of the streets. (For new readers: I'm an EMT)
Several hours later, a few minor burns and bruises that just blossom at random, we close up, have a drink ourselves to relax from the night, and my cell phone rings yet again. Officer Jason Mack Maddson, a good friend of mine, and one of the officers I often work with, was diagnosed with lung cancer several months ago. The call was from his son, letting me know that he had passed away that evening.
He was a close friend of mine, and I have to say this is hitting me rather hard. While I knew it was coming, and while I may face these things often enough, it's never easy to deal with. I'm going to be gone for a little while longer; the funural is tomorrow afternoon, and this month I'll be working 48/hr shifts. It will be... interesting. Sorry for the lull, if there is one for the next little while, but life comes first, as you all know.
Toodles until later.

Re: Gone again.
Oh, Shades, I am so terribly sorry... You have my condolences and sympathies. That was firstly rather scary that the bartenders at the bar your mom works at got swine flu, and then to have gotten that call from the officer's son. That's really heartbreaking.
Of course life comes first, as it should. We all understand, and I wish you better days in the weeks to comes. 48 hour shifts are just mind-blowing to me, but best of luck with them. We will always be here for you whenever you have the time.
I know that you applied to be a Global Moderator, Shades of Gray, but would you prefer it if you were no longer being considered, since you have so much going on? I would feel guilty if FOG was keeping you from what's important right now. Obviously though, if you have no problem handling something like that and would still like to be considered, that's definitely fine too.
