Notices:
I've updated the character sheet and geography section. Everyone who has images and/or their information post prepared has been taken care of. If the maps of West/East Arcona still look bare, it is because photobucket is taking its time registering the new images.
THERE ARE TONS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T POSTED THEIR CHARACTER IN THE INFORMATION THREAD.

THERE ARE TONS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T POSTED THEIR CHARACTER IN THE INFORMATION THREAD.
- Raptorman: You have not updated your existing post. It still has the Morgarath info. Please change that.
- Plaguewalker,Dax: Your vatienne soldiers don't have links. Either post them in the info thread with a new link or in your existing post, or in your character archive thread. Somewhere organized where I can easily find it and link it to your banners.
Fleusopp: If you don't want to post in the info thread, that is fine. I linked your character archive already.Lady_Despair, The_End, Crazy_Hobo, Chainlinc: Please post your character/worldspace info in the information thread. One post per character per person, please.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
I was merely waiting for my character banner.
I will post now.
edit: Oh, you meant the world space? Nah. It can be added, of course, to the general information posts if you or Silvone wishes to do so for clarity's sake, but I don't feel the need to post it again. It just clutters up the thread.
And with so long posts, it's better to have a separate thread for them. I plan to add a history for them as well, and that's another post, so it would just be too much scrolling, and too hard to keep track of everything.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
Okay I'll get on that. I can make another character and stick him/her in the same post as my other character, correct?

@Fluesopp: thats fine, just link your other thread to the one in the info thread, which I believe you already have.
@Crazy Hobo: yes, you can make another character and stick him/her in the same thread. I'd like to try and limit the playable characters as much as possible though, for Kalon's sake if nothing else. Secondary characters for the most part were created to fulfill plotlines that needed to be fulfilled. So basically you should worry about getting your first dude settled in before you think about making another.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
I would go ahead and put it all in there, so that everyone else has the ability to access it. When/if Silvone finishes the Information thread revision(which is a long time coming) our character sheets can be reduced to a more simple set up.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
Username: The Reaperman
Character Name: Azazul
Species/Race: Nerstil
Physical Description: Azazul is one of the Nerstil Lords and as such a being possesses twin forms. In his almost human form he looks to be an abnormally tall man standing at approximately 7 feet in height. He wears an ornate suit of armor that is blood red in color and is made from steel. It is clear that a great deal of work went into the fashioning of the armor as it seems to be almost as much for decoration as for combat. Azazul's face is strong in appearance and exudes an aura of refined power and confidence more than anything else. His eyes are an unusual orange in color.
Azazul's real form so to speak is far more terrifying. He stands a monstrous 13 feet in height and his armor apparently is capable of changing with him so as to continue to fit. Azazul is massively muscled and the claws on each hand stretch to nearly a foot beyond the ends of his digits. The wings that petrude from his back are massive as well in proportion to his body, and are capable of sustained flight. His skin is hard and a dark burgundy color like that of dried blood where it is visible. Azazul's head is similar in most respects to that of a greater demon save for being proportionally larger and having three large horn like spines that emerge from the top of it.
Character Bio: Azazul is old by the general standard by which Nerstil age would be judged, however by the standards of the Nerstil Lords he is a relative newcomer. While not the most junior amongst them there are several who can claim easy seniority and power over his. Like all Nerstil Azazul began existence as a mere slive, a worthless weakling amongst beings far stronger. However like all Nerstil who would become more than the slives Azazul fought well and ferociously. More important than that though was the key advantage Azazul had over many other slives and Lesser Nerstil, Azazul was possessed of a greater intellect then the norm for a Nerstil at that stage.
Through the successful battles and feasting upon enemies and craftiness in his attempts to ascend Azazul managed to consume enough to become one of the Greater Nerstil. The nature of Nerstil society is such that eventually those who rise will be destroyed if they do not destroy those above them to advance. Azazul had risen to a position of great power, second only to one of the Nerstil Lords. This however nearly proved his undoing. To attract the attention of a Demon Lord oft means to die but fate was to intervene. In one of the first battles in which the Veloran unleashed potent magic for the first time the Lord who was above Azazul was grievously wounded. Later Azazul slew his wounded commander and as he consumed the massive store of life energy he began to change and mature into a Nerstil Lord himself. Many years have passed since his ascension and in that time life has simply gone on.
Age: 2084
Gender: Male
Occupation: One of the Rulers of the Nerstil Horde
Skills: Combat mastery Azazul is highly skilled in the use of a great mace and in fighting with the natural weapons of a Lord of the Nerstil. He is also skilled at diplomacy, ruling.
World-space: Pragara as the Nerstil Homeland is called is a savage place that few would visit and few who do visit survive. It is comprised primarily of a vast almost arid expanse of shrub land punctuated here and there by the occasional mountain and canyons river valleys worn down by the constant rushing of water through them. Despite the apparently barren nature of Pragara it teams with life, mostly that of the Nerstil themselves who in their young forms and in times when there is no other food to be found prey on each other till they become strong enough to join the Horde itself. There are countless spawning pits in which the Nerstil breed and from which an almost endless stream of young pour out both to hunt and prey upon each other and to in turn be feasted upon by those greater then them. There is scarce animal life upon the great plain of the Pragara that is not of the Nerstil.
Racial information: The Nerstil are a race known far more widely across glorious expanses of Arcona as the demons. The Nerstil as a race are divided by state of maturity, and there are 4 main states of maturity and power that are commonly used as classification. I shall endeavor to detail these thoroughly below.
The first classification of Nerstil is that of the Slive. The Slives are the weakest and resemble humans more than any save the demon lords. Slives appear humanoid save for their thick leathery skin, pointed and serrated teeth, and sharp claws that tip their various digits. The Slives also are in possession of more primal faces than those of humans, there is a faint animal like taint to their faces. They vary in height within the range of 6 to 6 1/2 feet and are uniformly thin and wiry in appearance. While the slives are the weakest among Nerstil their physical abilities match and oft surpass those of ordinary humans.
The second classification of Nerstil is that of the Lesser Nerstil. The Lesser Nerstil greatly resemble their weaker brothers of the Slive but are possessed of several differences. Their claws have grown longer and sharper in truth. The Lesser Nerstil's heads have also changed becoming elongated with a distinct snout in which rows of curved teeth have become visible. The head looks much as if a small crocodile's head was blended into a human's. The Lesser Nerstil also stand nearly a foot taller than those who are merely Slives. In physical strength a Lesser Nerstil could be estimated as twice that of a human. The Lesser Nerstil also have almost vestigial wings that are beginning to grow from their backs.
The third classification of Nerstil is that of the Greater Nerstil also known as the Greater Demons. The Greater Nerstil are radically changed from their younger weaker brethren. While the Lesser Nerstil and Slives are thin and wiry the Greater Nerstil look as massively powerful as they are. The Greater Nerstil possess significantly longer claws then their brethren and are visibly massively muscled. Their wings are nearly fully developed and capable of short distance flight. The Greater Nerstils' heads tend to resemble nothing so much as a bastardized draconic and crocodilian combination. Greater Nerstil typically stand to a height of about 9 feet and possess the physical strength roughly four times that of a human male.
The final classification of Nerstil is that of The Nerstil Lords or as they are more widely known Demon Lords. On the surface level they appear to be almost human, disturbingly so. The Demon lords seem to be human and rather handsome or beautiful depending on wether the Demon Lord is male or female itself. However there are some distinguishing features to allow for the identification of a Demon lord, they possess short claws at the tips of their fingers and their teeth are slightly pointed.
The true form of a Demon Lord however is significantly more frightening. They all stand at least 12 feet in height and all possess massive claws and teeth as well. The Demon Lords do have a large degree of variation outside of those traits. Some demon lords possess wings whereas others lost the wings as they grew into their final stage. However regardless of their particular appearance all Demon Lords are terrifying to behold and possess incredible physical power.
Abilities: The Nerstil do not possess the capacity to use any form of magic save two purely instinctive abilities. The Nerstil Lords have the ability to shift between 2 forms and to alter the weapons and armor they wear to accommodate them in either form. And that when the Nerstil kill and devour an organism they consume its life force which fuels their growth and allows them to heal quickly while feeding. They are possessed of great physical strength which is a natural aspect to them.
Population note: The Nerstil Lords and Greater Nerstil are both relatively uncommon. There are a mere 10 Nerstil lords in existence and a few thousand Greater Nerstil at the most given the Nerstil obsession with killing off those most able to threaten themselves even within their own kind. Furthermore the streams of nerstil young mentioned above are not even what would be called slives, those youngsters function as food save for the few rutheless, cunning, and powerful enough to survive and grow stronger.
Allies: N/A
Enemies: The Veloran.
Religion/Deity(s): The Nerstil do not think of higher powers. They believe themselves to be higher powers on the rare occasions they think of such things.
Governing Body: Basically Nerstil society works in a simple fashion. If one is older and more powerful then one rules over those who are less old and powerful. As the Nerstil Lords are the most powerful they rule over all the others.

Queeestion... Did you scrap the magic resistance you mentioned in the IRC? Because, while I admit I only skimmed, I didn't see it in there.

I need to go over this with Kalon, but the age of your character may need to be changed. We have a sort of timeline that your age of choice, 2084, might not fit. I'll get back to you on the conclusion.
-edit: I haven't read through it all the way, this is just the first thing I've found.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
May I ask why being over 2000 conflicts with the timeline, because I have some history stuff that I did with Daxy that takes place in the Second Illuria(or whatever it is called) War which he told me was 2000 plus years ago.

It might not be, but to have something with such a long lifespan deserves particular attention, especially if his character was officially alive during a time when none other were, save the NPC dark lord.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
Please do not get annoyed at me for arguing with anything but I would like to say that I know that quite a few of Kalon's thendari were alive for longer than 2000 years so I think having one of the few members of Reaper's race that live a long time having been around since then would be fine. Kalon's whole race is of the long long lived after all.

I also in examining the information thread have noticed that the average lifespan of the Quende elves is 2,500 years which is also older than the Reaperman's character.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
But, forgive me if I'm not correct,Elves do not grow more powerful when they consume other beings. There's a smidgen of a difference there, granted that's more of a power deal, but in regards to time line, I see the issue.
He could possibly screw up histories when expanding upon his character's long life. While Kalon's and Kathryn's can and have members older...we aren't exactly going into all their lives, and Kalon has been around since the beginning, and thus has a better gathered view of our massive mishmash of history.

Histories can be over 2000 years, thats not the same thing as the age of a playable character though. I haven't said no yet guys. I'm going to talk it over with Kalon and then Reaperman, like I've been saying all along.

Umm... if there's any changes that need to be made, could I be kept in the loop as well? Seeing as the Fae are quasi-immortal (at least as far as old age is concerned), many of them are pretty damn old, and I'd like to know if there's anything I need to do.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
It's OK to have Fae that are ancient. The reasoning is the low numbers of your race, as well as other weaknesses that we have asked you to implement...Not to mention the nature of your beings.
I am in the process of going over a similar strategy with Reaperman via PM. We will see the outcome.
We know that Emoria is an ancient place. The key is to make sure that we all agree on what was and wasn't around 2000 years ago, 3000 years ago, whatever it is. Collaboration is key!

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
This has been edited with several important changes that make it easier to understand and reveal the actual power in relation to other races already present as well as explaining the weaknesses and issues of the nerstil more clearly.

The Nerstil once they have reached the level of a Nerstil lord lose the ability to gain in power and grow stronger from the life energy they consume, there is a definitive limit to their growth.
Weaknesses: The Nerstil have no capacity to work magic in the way that other races are capable of using it. They also lack the magical defenses that races that are experienced with the use of magic possess. The Nerstil lords while beings of great power would if given the opportunity leap at the chance to kill each other if there was a possibility for advancing from the event. While they may be allies of convenience in battle they would not hesitate to strike against each other.
Allies: N/A
Enemies: The Veloran.
Additional notes- The Slives and Lesser Nerstil are both weaker than the beings known as the tynir while the greater nerstil only equal them in strength. The Nerstil lords are the only 10 beings amongst the nerstil who surpass the Tynir and their physical strength could best be compared to that of meyul.
The wings that petrude from his back are massive as well in proportion to his body, and are incapable of sustained flight, however he can glide a fair distance given height to use at the beginning.
The Pragara is also the sole place in which the Nerstil can breed successfully. The process of breeding for the Nerstil involves the land itself and so can not take place outside of it.
Racial information: The Nerstil are a race known far more widely across glorious expanses of Arcona as the demons. The Nerstil as a race are divided by state of maturity, and there are 4 main states of maturity and power that are commonly used as classification. I shall endeavor to detail these thoroughly below.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
The problem isn't so much the strength, though it's a good thing they can't do magic. Giving them small numbers also helps, and it makes sense because of all the infighting.
The problem is the origin of this species. Maybe I missed something, but I'm currently in the dark about it. If this guy is over 2,000 years old and considered a newcomer, these creatures are probably too long-lived for Emoria. Are they immortal? Where did they come from? Just how long CAN they live?
Remember that two thousand years is a long, long time. If they're so intent on killing each other for power, why are the strongest still living, and how have they lived not 2,000 years, but enough longer than that to consider a 2,000-year-old a newcomer?
This race seems quite strong. Indeed, it must be said, the word 'godmode' comes easily to mind. One would think, if there are so few and they just kill each other for power, then the smarter ones would branch off and go conquer the world to keep from being killed by their power-hungry brethren. You have a race of killing machines stupidly killing each other when it is in their best interests to take over the world and eat everyone else instead of each other.
This leads me to my real concern.
All my role-playing experience tells me to be extremely cautious with ambitious newcomers. These two posts in this thread are Reaperman's ONLY two posts on FOG so far. I assume, based on some comments, that he's at least introduced himself in our chat room. Nevertheless, overall, we don't know this person. I can see he has a lot of writing up there, but that's about it. Having a big sword is different from wielding it effectively and, more important, properly.
Right now, Reaperman has little-to-no personal investment in FOG or Emoria. This means, unfortunately, that he can easily walk away after starting or mess with the existing structure of this project. This is not good. The less we are connected with him, the greater the chances that he might abandon the project if he tires of it. This would be upsetting in any RP; an upset of this sort would be many times as severe in a project like Emoria, with so many dedicated participants already pouring in significant time and effort.
What we need to know from Reaperman is whether he can proceed in Emoria with Commitment, Dedication, Fellowship, Collaboration, Respect, and Honor.
Commitment, because this is a very large project that involves a lot of people. Dedication, because this is a very long project that could even continue indefinitely. Fellowship, because for each of us involved this is a personal endeavor and labor of enjoyment and creativity involving creatures and races dear to each of us--and none of us want to spoil anyone's work, least of all our own. Collaboration, because if a participant cannot collaborate well, then they will drag everyone down. Respect, both for the leadership, for the process, and for fellow players, because that's the only way debates can be held civilly and this project can flow smoothly with all these ideas bumping around. Honor, to hold oneself to the high standard set by the GM's--Silvone and Ryona--and to always go through proper channels.
So, Reaperman, I mean no disrespect to you whatsoever; it's just that I don't know you. I don't know what you're like. I don't know WHAT you like. I don't know what experiences you've had, specifically in regards to role-playing. And I don't feel comfortable with someone I know nothing about being allowed to waltz in and ask to play a powerful race in a project involving this many people who have already put so much into the world and the story.
I would like to know more about you. Once you're friends with all of us, the potential to harm this project will naturally, dramatically decrease. I have a feeling you've already read a lot of the role-play so far, and that speaks well on your behalf, but it's not enough for my peace of mind. I need more than that. A good way for you to begin this process might be to introduce yourself in FOG's Introductions section. I don't know how everyone else feels, but that's where I'm at.
I hope to get to know you better very soon, and I look forward to seeing what you'll bring to this project besides a powerful race.

I have on Ryona's behest explained more thoroughly within the reason why they do not simply branch off and take over the world. They are incapable of doing such a thing which is evident in my most recent post. The Nerstil can only breed within the confines of the Pragara, their homeland. And so it is impossible for groups of them to split off and set themselves up elsewhere as they would wither away.
I am currently endeavoring to work with Silvone to come up with an acceptable solution to this slightly problematic situation through a weakening to what people may consider more reasonable. I confess to not seeing the enormous issue with them being stronger than humans but weaker then the strongest physical race but as I am the soul of coorperation I am willing to make changes.

As a general statement, try to remember that not all members in Emoria are active on chat. Actually, very few are. So OOC interaction is much more successful in including all members. Speaking of all members, I just have a little thing to say to everyone. I don't want to sound angry, and I'm not. This is just my honest opinion regarding some issues that have been brought to light.
I, as the leader of this role play, have always tried to make everyone happy. But I also, having lead this role play for a long time now, have a set way of doing things. If you do not like me, or the way I run this role play, I suggest that this is not the role play for you. Please don't take these words lightly. Arguments that I am here for are how to implement these new worldspaces, not on who I speak to or what decisions I make regarding this role play. If you don't like it, I highly suggest you make your own role play, where you can be in full control.
The reason Emoria is successful is that, so far, all the members in it have listened to Silvone and I and worked together, as a close knit group. If you don't like this group of people, then this probably isn't the role play for you.
Edit: Also, while I have been very accessible the past week or so, with holidays coming up expect to have to wait a bit longer to get responses from me. Taeo and my birthday are this month, as well as halloween.
Edit 2: To make this more clear, I don't want anyone to leave. I like having the map full, and I love the new stuff coming in. I just want things to run as smoothly as they did before, and I recognize that not liking me or the people whom I ask advice from may be a dealbreaker.

I'm sorry, if this was directed at me. I certainly don't dislike you or anyone else in Emoria, I just question things a lot, usually with the intention to see if there really is a better way of doing it or not. I like the way Emoria is run, but just like anything in life it isn't perfect, and I didn't really mean to tick anyone off with how I acted at any point. Sorry, again.

Honestly, I meant it to everyone, so don't feel too bad. Questioning is always acceptable, I just wanted to be clear that some things aren't going to be changing so might not be worth questioning. If you ever need me to explain something, I'm more than willing.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
Sorry I wasn't around at all yesterday. I got a fever/headache thing; still getting over it.
Reaperman, thanks for pointing out the breeding grounds. Now that you mention it I recall reading it before--I guess I'd forgotten. That does solve a lot for me.
Still, there are those other questions I had, relating to the history.
As far as I can tell, unless I missed it again, that information isn't there.

Re: Emoria: World-Building OOC
I regret feeling compelled to bring this up, but my attempt at addressing it with Raptor privately has resulted in:
: So sue me
Raptorman currently estimates his fleet to be about 2000 in number, with ships the size of Chinese Treasure Ships, which were never intended as warships.
I think we can all agree that the Royal Navy was the largest historical navy on Earth, but yet it had a measly 533 ships in 1877, which was roughly the height of it's power. Also keep in mind that the two largest ships | produced by the Royal Navy (which are both far past where I understand the technology of Emoria to be) are dwarfed by the size of the Chinese Treasure Ships, which are claimed to be of such immense size that they are listed as "Unconfirmed or Mythological."
As I have written this, Raptor has argued:
: Look
: We all have to suspend disbelief a bit
What followed that statement was either a poorly worded comparison, an attempted bribe, or a threat; whatever it was, I didn't see it's relevance to the point I am making, so I am omitting it.
As Raptor wishes, I am willing to suspend disbelief to a degree. But when golems are the only advantage his people would have in producing his ships over people in real life, I have to question how such a fleet would be possible. Golems solve a man-power shortage, yes. That much is incontestable. But he has supposedly fielded a fleet of ships at least twice the size of any historically confirmed counterparts, and said fleet is four times as numerous as the most powerful navy ever in existence. Don't get me wrong; I like the idea of a large naval power, I even like the idea of these giant treasure ships. They both strike me as really, really cool. But 2000 is just not feasible, as far as I can see.
(If this argument has been made before, which my conversation with Raptor suggests it hasn't, I apologize for cluttering this thread. Also, all this research has been done in maybe a half-hour tops, so you probably shouldn't take my word as complete fact on all of it.)
Edit:
It has been mentioned that Raptor's fleet is divided between 20 viceroys. This doesn't help the case from my standpoint, however, because just as the Fae were hypothetically capable of nuking the world in the first draft, Raptor can still hypothetically field 2000 mega-ships at any time. He responded there by saying that his people engage in infighting and kill each other off regularly, but that raises another problem: If they are fighting so much, how can they maintain a navy quadruple (actually octuple when you account for size) the strength of the largest historical navy? Either they aren't sinking ships, or he's building them at a rate that could hardly be considered balanced for ships of that magnitude.
